  • Wow...your garden(s) is (are) wonderful! Gives you a wonderful yield too! I'm envious of your tomatoes. I didn't get many last year. (Maybe because I am growing them in pots in the desert?? LOL) I planted them because I wanted to make fried green tomatoes. I never got enough to make them, nor were they big enough. I'm hoping for better luck this year. Yay...spring will be here soon and I get to try again...:-)

  • @GreatGig1 - Thanks! Dont give up...sometimes one year is the pits for growing stuff and the next is fantastic. For 3 years in a row my watermelons totally sucked. Well, last year you saw how that went! Try to research tomatoes that do well in the hot (and sometimes cold, too) conditions of a desert. And, check the handy, dandy elevation chart to see where your area is to determine what will be easy to grow. And, try square foot gardening (book available thru Amazon)-might help, too.

  • What kind of hops do you have?

  • those at 1:34 look like striped butternuts! im not entirely sure you call them Butternuts haha but thats what we call them, nice veggies!

  • The melon in the spokes was an AWESOME ending point for the video!

  • @TheIronAtheist - Thanks! I was sooo nervous at the begining of this video...you can see my wide-eyed deer in the headlights look. Very embarrassing...and look a little crazed. :I

Well, I think you did a great job. Excellent, actually, for this being your first video and all. It seemed to come pretty natural to you. Did you do it all in one take or did you have to start over a few times?

  • @TheIronAtheist - Actually, not on this one. Worked well on one take. I still havent learned how to do the cut and sew option yet for editing. My 13 year old daughter helps with all the techy stuff to get me online. She is a wiz and loves it. I am very grateful for her help.

Also have a video of my dogs eating watermelon right off the rind-seriously! Also, hoping to post soon the cool waterfall down the street from my house and the zombie walk we participated in last night.

  • @skeletonmom

Well, considering that you did this video in one take and didn't have to re-record anything, I think you did great. If you ever do start editing videos yourself though, I recommend just using Windows Movie Maker, it's about the most balanced editor I've tried in terms of simplicity of use and available effects. The draw back is that it crashes a lot until you get used to doing everything a particular way. Also, it's been several years since I've seen a dog eat watermelon.

  • How did I miss this video! LOL What a great garden. When I was a kid my step-father got the gardening bug. So he transformed our entire backyard into his personal farm. Can you imagine what that looked like in the middle of a ghetto Baltimore neighborhood? LOL He never grew anything the size of those melons though.

  • @rationalwarrior - perhaps I should let all my friends and subs know I FINALLY posted a video of my own. Guess I'm a bit shy since this is my first.

Your step father sounded like an interesting guy. Bet that garden was like magic growing in the middle of the city. Did you like hanging out there?

Usually I will water somewhat when things get dry. Otherwise, I let nature take its course. You are close to us-only 1 hour. Next time I bring you some produce, ok?

  • @skeletonmom Oh that would be great! And yeah I guess he was interesting. He said maybe a paragraph's worth of words to me the whole time I was a kid. It's funny cause now him and I are real cool. The neighborhood kids used to call him Farmer Wayne LOL.

  • Do not worry about your video. I made one one day about "how to drink wine the right way". I decided not to do such things again with my face online. It was stimulating ;-) Those watermelons are quiet big by the way. Each of us should know how to grow vegetables. This is real neat. Neat to mother nature. Neat for those who are eating it. Regards.

  • @unmedication - Thanks for the encouragement, Melter!

  • @skeletonmom You are most welcome Skelly. Your garden looks good.

I like the one who got grown near to the wheel. A rebel... An Halloween one.

  • @unmedication - Satanic Melon!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O

  • I love watermelon. Too bad they won't be in season by the time I'm up that way. Thanks for the tour. Looks like a nice place.

  • @CultOfDusty - If you want I can cut out the pulp and freeze it. Watermelon makes for wonderful smoothies-mix with ice, milk and perhaps some raw honey?

  • Wow that's a nice harvest! nice garden too...everywhere like mine ;)

  • @jihadacadien - thanks! Yep, the wilder, the better. Sometimes if you let nature do its thing, you get nice surprises.

  • Hey, great to see you! Love your place.

  • @SconeMason - Thanks, Scone! Miss you...when are you doing another video?

  • @skeletonmom I've got one in the works, been busy with the new house, etc.

  • @SconeMason - Congratulations. Keep us posted.
