You know when I went to university for anthropology I decided my focus would be on physical anthropology rather than cultural anthropology simply because reading field studies on the impact of western colonialism on indigenous cultures made me feel horribly depressed in ways the extinction of the Neanderthals didn't. I remember asking one of my cultural anthropology profs after reading a very depressing book on the Dobe !Kung how it is one can become a cultural anthropologist...
