@CoChicken1337 first of all some peopes idea of "alot of money" could be different than others. Just a good quality full exhaust system from the headers back can cost 1000 bucks...that's a lot of money to me. not everyone is rich. not to mention in a 98 they're slow factory and lucky to run high 14s, usually 15s around here. 3rd of all elevation has a lot to do with it. a 13 flat at 106 mph is pretty good in an n/a 98 2v. he's not granny shifting he just isn't powershifting...lighten up
@CoChicken1337 I'm assuming it's a GT....because a 98 cobra running those times would be bolt ons and exhaust, gears only....unless he's got 4.56 gears it's not a cobra...I had 4.10s in my 98 and it didn't tach that fast...so it's probably a GT...the reason it didn't tach fast with 4.10s is because they redline near 7k rpms factory and they love to rev to every bit of those rpms...it kills me seeing cobra vids on here and ppl shifting at 6k or so...take it to fuckin redline, the engines love it
Great video bro. That's one sick sounding stang. I just got a '94 Trans Am with an LT1 and 6 spd manual and I'm still trying to get the hang of how to drive stick. Your video does a great job of showing how to launch when racing. Thanks.
Sounds like hes using 4.10s at LEAST in this video. Its not like a 4 cylinder, all the power he needs for a good pull isnt at the top of the power band, its a good mix between hp and torque. Hes doin it right
That's impressive for an N/A Stang, especially considering it didn't seem like an insanely hard launch, or hard shifts! 4.6 I'm assuming, judging by the center console?
This swich is for the line lock. It keeps the front breaks from releasing. So I flip the switch then tap the breaks and the front breaks stay on and the back release. This makes it easy to heat up the tires in the burnout box.
that's the good thing bout ford's small engines, they go great at green but in the long run the chevy's 6.1L always goes all out in the long run. but ford has eatons to take care of that
"Switch On" does not allow the front breaks to release, but does allow you to apply the breaks and release the rear. "Switch Off" breaks work like normal.
I installed the switch. It is Not OEM. Your switch might be something else. Mine is a Hurst Roll Control Kit. Used primarily for drag racing to provide positive locking action to the front wheels of race cars, reducing the chance of ''Rolling the Lights'' and producing more effective burn outs for heating up the tires. Andi its fun 2 :)
i like your car, but like mine we get the cheep plastic crap around the shifter mines broken :( rattles like hell in mine to. You said you have light flywheel? what company, and what do you think about it? cuz im looking at a fidenza one, and i know it changes driving a bit, but not sure how much
I have the Hawks Racing Billet Aluminum Flywheel. With my combo (long duration cams) it creats low torque at low rpms. The light weight flywheel makes it very easy to bog the engine when you dump the clutch althougth the 4.30:1 rear end gears helped. I would buy the light weight flywheel again.
so other than having to be a little more awake, it drives pretty much the same on the street? ive heard of the bogging problem when launching, but also heard thats fixed by higher launch rpm, and a bit heavier foot just trying to figure out how annoying it is to daily life
Patriot 2V heads and cams. DSS stroker 4.6 block stroked to 5.0. BBK LTH. Magnaflow exahaust. SCT Dyno Custom tune. Light weight flywheel. Aluminum Drive shaft. 4.30:1 gears. and much more. But no power adder :(
the light weight flywheel is not a big problem for daily driving. The large cam long duration is a much bigger issue for daily driving. I must stay above 1800 rpms or have surge and bucking type problems.
My calculated shift points for best ET are 1st to 2nd @ 6,400 then 2nd to 3rd @ 6,200 then into 4th @ 5,800. But my transmission TKO-600 does not like to shift at high rpms > 6000. This run was shifing very close to calculated rpms but not power shifting.
dude your car sounds so damn good n agressive, GREAT JOB!!

First of all, what's with the camera cut at :30? Second, you spent a lot of money on it and it only runs 13's? That's sad.

$99 HURST ROLL-CONTROL (line-Loc) Kit P/N# HUR174-5000
You can install it with adapters to fit your size break lines/connectors

man your really short shifting it..
CobraFrank08 2 years ago
Optimal shift points are
6400rpm, 1st to 2nd
6200rpm 2nd to 3rd, and
5800rpm 3rd to 4th
I am short shifing going into 3rd as my tko-600 does not like to shift above 6000 grand in 3rd
