That hole isn't anything compared to the crappy parking areas behind those two gas stations in Brundidge, Alabama by the Walmart DC. They're horrible and there are pieces of trucks all over the place from those potholes. Whatever truck stop up near Pasco, WA where Tyson is located is bad with lare potholes (more like sinkholes) too.
Its all in good fun to poke at this driver some, but I would rather see him back up 2 or 3 times to get into a crappy spot then sideswipe someones rig. Phil

@dieselducy Hi as a trucker in England i am curious to know if American Truckers have to Pay to Park at a trucstop overnight, Throughout the British isles we pay an average of £25 per night to park a truck overnight i would imagine this to be around the equivalent of $45 we can claim it back on exspenses but may have to wait a week or so to get the money back from the company, in effect we are being forced to give credit to the company, its unfair whats your view.

Yes, there are truckstops where we have to pay to park. But usualy if you go in the store and spend money in there and keep your receipt you will not have to pay.

@Toms994x4 companies also have policies in place for high valued loads and sometimes those areas are being scoped out. People may follow you for a set amount of miles and the policy is you don't stop for at least 200 miles and if you suspect you are being followed, then you call it in. Again I've never had an issue . Biggest mistake you can make is discussing your load with anyone and that is probably what kept me safe during the time I was on the road and for the record I also did Canada.
@Toms994x4 never needed to be armed during the entire time I was driving and probably went into some very shady areas. Nowadays if you are dumb enough to discuss your load, then you are a target. And to my understanding, professionals will go in through your cab late at night and just run ether and knock you out. You r lucky if you don't wind up dead somewhere. I know of truckers that have been armed in the worst parts of NYC area & it just took a flash of the firearm 2get others to back off

@chronik24 I've seen worse truck stops in the state of TX. One in particular that had an unpaved lot and holes big enough to get stuck in during a heavy rain storm especially if you're bob tailing. Had to help another fellow driver and pull him out with a chain. Oh the fun times of being a trucker. And yes it was a Swift driver LOL! Don't blame the driver, blame the shitty truck stop then again can't fault the truck stop for not having the money either then again....
@336kgf Texas doesn't surprise however the T/A one does LOL. Actually I've always been a fan of the Giant chain in Albuquerque. In Texas namely off I-35 in Robinson, there was a Williams turned Pilot and right across from there was a huge truck lot. Yeah you get your crappy truck stops and some of them don't even deserve to be affiliated with a chain. Then both those locations have clean facilities then they are okay in my book. Just don't fall into the Earth on your way into one.
@336kgf yeah I'll probably consider trucking as a second career after or I might take my CDL and see if road work positions are available. In about a few months I think I might have a few options and keeping my CDL current has probably greased the wheels for pursuing more money and get paid decently for a change vs. putting up with low wages in general freight. Since I"m use to maintaining a residence now I don't miss the road and I've been everywhere and then some. I'd go regional next time.
@shaithis80 I tried to get back in in '07. One of the Swift terminal mgrs DQ'd me on the spot and really didn't have a good reason to. They saw may app didn't list recent trucking experience etc etc. In short I was blackballed after going through their work well program, showing a current, physical, and passing a drug test. Funny thing is I was allowed to run the entire course of the drive test though it was felt I was a waste of resources for not doing better.
@336kgf I also tried Knight and they were just as disorganized in their application process so waited it out and built up my work xp elsewhere since I had a tech background and applied that to a different field. Today I'm in a much more stable job and I'm home every night though I maintain my CDL as a backup. They also made a big deal over my DAC however I maintained a clean MVR. You'd figure they'd work with someone that showed over 2+ years prior xp with company. Not the case.

this isn't the dumbest thing I've ever seen a Swift driver do by a long shot, but you do need to be aware of holes, especially with that big steel thing sticking up he should have seen it when he was setting up to back in.

Their moto is "pay as little as possible, treat drivers like shit, and if they quit then we will just bring more unsuspecting trucking students in to replace them". Most of their human resource / training / dispatch employees are under qualified trash off the local streets who love acting like they are doing YOU a favor. Yeah most drivers are all for themselves, and dont bother to help each other .That is what has allowed the CSA2010, DOT rules, fines, tickets, shit shipping rates, low pay, low miles and other things which screw drivers over on the daily to occur. They have no solidarity to fellow drivers doing what they do. If they actually stood in unity and said "FUCKING ENOUGH" and grind the country to a halt, things would change. They are too busy laughing at others to help the industry as a collective unit

That is why I got out of trucking. I did my one year with Schneider bought my own truck and did my thing. Too many Renegade truck drivers out on the road that can do no wrong. They are better than any other vehicle on the road. They are usually the ones crashed on the side of the road. Not everyone was born driving a truck out of their mothers womb.

@Toms994x4 companies also have policies in place for high valued loads and sometimes those areas are being scoped out. People may follow you for a set amount of miles and the policy is you don't stop for at least 200 miles and if you suspect you are being followed, then you call it in. Again I've never had an issue . Biggest mistake you can make is discussing your load with anyone and that is probably what kept me safe during the time I was on the road and for the record I also did Canada.

@Toms994x4 never needed to be armed during the entire time I was driving and probably went into some very shady areas. Nowadays if you are dumb enough to discuss your load, then you are a target. And to my understanding, professionals will go in through your cab late at night and just run ether and knock you out. You r lucky if you don't wind up dead somewhere. I know of truckers that have been armed in the worst parts of NYC area & it just took a flash of the firearm 2get others to back off

@chronik24 I've seen worse truck stops in the state of TX. One in particular that had an unpaved lot and holes big enough to get stuck in during a heavy rain storm especially if you're bob tailing. Had to help another fellow driver and pull him out with a chain. Oh the fun times of being a trucker. And yes it was a Swift driver LOL! Don't blame the driver, blame the shitty truck stop then again can't fault the truck stop for not having the money either then again....

@336kgf Texas doesn't surprise however the T/A one does LOL. Actually I've always been a fan of the Giant chain in Albuquerque. In Texas namely off I-35 in Robinson, there was a Williams turned Pilot and right across from there was a huge truck lot. Yeah you get your crappy truck stops and some of them don't even deserve to be affiliated with a chain. Then both those locations have clean facilities then they are okay in my book. Just don't fall into the Earth on your way into one.

@336kgf yeah I'll probably consider trucking as a second career after or I might take my CDL and see if road work positions are available. In about a few months I think I might have a few options and keeping my CDL current has probably greased the wheels for pursuing more money and get paid decently for a change vs. putting up with low wages in general freight. Since I"m use to maintaining a residence now I don't miss the road and I've been everywhere and then some. I'd go regional next time.

@shaithis80 I tried to get back in in '07. One of the Swift terminal mgrs DQ'd me on the spot and really didn't have a good reason to. They saw may app didn't list recent trucking experience etc etc. In short I was blackballed after going through their work well program, showing a current, physical, and passing a drug test. Funny thing is I was allowed to run the entire course of the drive test though it was felt I was a waste of resources for not doing better.

@336kgf I also tried Knight and they were just as disorganized in their application process so waited it out and built up my work xp elsewhere since I had a tech background and applied that to a different field. Today I'm in a much more stable job and I'm home every night though I maintain my CDL as a backup. They also made a big deal over my DAC however I maintained a clean MVR. You'd figure they'd work with someone that showed over 2+ years prior xp with company. Not the case.
