I,ve been on this at the top of the incline the building you can look through a small window and you can see the motor and all the steel cables that move the cars.
I grew up in J-town in the 50s. I loved riding the incline.
The sky would light up red from the open-hearth steel furnaces. Now, downtown now is practically flattened.
I lived in Uniontown for a while recently & visited J-town almost every week. I still love Stackhouse Park & of course the Incline. But... lost my job like so many & had to move west. Luckily I have a job now.
Good luck, Johnstowners! I'm sure I'll be back again when I retire!
@IggyKoopa12 Cool screen name! I'm also a big fan of the old Mario games and especially the Koopa Kids (I used to write for Lemmy's Land from 2000-2002).
I love the inclined plane. Although I mostly just hang out at the top. A lot of people have actually seen the ghost miners off to the side of the base from the mine explosion that killed 115 in the early 1900's.
I'm originally from Johnstown. My godfather was supposed to take me on there, but unfortunately, he passed away before he got a chance. I moved away from Johnstown when I was six years old. I only got a chance to visit twice since I left there. Anybody remember the carnival that used to come to Johnstown?
Hey shyartist79---I had a couple stand-up gigs there five or six years ago. The town is BACKWARDS, in the dark ages, asleep at the wheel. I live in Vegas.
I have been on this incline a zillion times and this video is much more exciting than the actual experience. I think is was the music choice that made this video rock. HAHAHA
This song makes Johnstown City look like a hotspot. An upbeat 80s song makes it so hard to tell Johnstown is the slum that it is. It illuminates it for sure.

A box on a steep hill, a lack of employment, and a flood museum; that is the comedy that is Johnstown.
Hey, at least we'll always have something to joke about while we're here.
FalconDelta 3 years ago 3
The Lookout Mountain Incline in Chattanooga is actually steeper.
72.7% compared to 70.9% at Johnstown.

As this video by BNB shows, when you take the Johnstown Inclined Plane, the only thing wrong with the ride is that it has to end.
I also noticed that as you panned the camera in this video, several times you showed the secret hiding place we used as kids.

ctomkosky535 4 years ago
I am pretty sure that it looks at more of an angle. Thats my opinion.
NblracerN37 4 years ago
Nope, the official sign at the top says that the plane was built at a 35 degree angle. I used to think it was much steeper until I saw the sign.
MVillani1985 4 years ago
That inclined plane is at a 35 degree angle.
