  • i was just wondering what you look for on avaida.com because i didnt see anything about cosmetic brushes

  • that's what shynthetic brushes sound like?? wow..just so you know the sound is diferent cause of the length of the hair. and foundation and concealer brushes are usually synthetic anyway and sound the same wheter they are real or fake hair...

  • looks like she WANTS to break them

  • your not supposed to wash the whole brush handle, it causes the glue to weaken making the hairs fall out. just the hairs

  • for all the money that is paid for a MAC brush, I would think one would have comfort in know that the Coastal brush could hold up to just about anything, yeah she is rough, how ever I did listen to what she said about "TESTING" or "See what it can really do"... I don't know I glad someone did a video like this.

  • Wait so you want to see how well your brushes hold up going through things you said you shouldn't even do to your brushes?

  • it was like watching a horror movie!! Oh my goodness!!!

  • Oh boy..she just roughed up the badger!! Now she's gone too far!!

  • It's synthetic bristles. How much damage can you really do to it by washing it?? Plus she is purposely trying to see how rough she can be with it. Maybe she likes it???

  • are synthetic brushes bad for setting powder, i mean i dnt use the 187 for because it's rcap - not sure to get synthetic or real here

  • lols shes ROUGH on them brushes :D

  • Your so rough with your brushes. You don't even care if your get water/soap on the ferrule or handle. You would so not do that to a MAC brush.

  • PLEASE Pleaaase notice to buy CRUELTY-FREE BRUSHES.

Many Makeup Brushes are from horribly killed animal fur.

Chinchilla, fox, mink, raccoon, horse, pony, camel or goat, and china's dogs and cats hair, are so many times out of trapped and horrible tortures.

Millions of animals are tortured and killed for their fur.

The type of hair that brushes are made from is rarely printed so it's difficult to know what a brush is made of. Please Make an effort to know. Please Buy SYNTHETIC. Thank u for this

  • I know this was just a test, but it still KILLED me watching you clean them like that! Hahahaha xD

  • Hi, thanks so much for the review, I was just wondering is the synthetic brushes softer than italian badger brushes?

  • HI, its Vanessa

So...like are the brushes good quality for me to buy?

because if there poor quality...then well..

    No.

But then again they really really look soft and comfortable...

  • plz subscribe to my channel n help me get motivated to do makeup tutorials . thnx=)

  • after cleaning my brushes, and squeezing them out I dip them in alcohol because, the alcohol will help them dry a bit faster and sanitize the bristles. =D Hope that helps a bit.

  • Doesn't it damage the bristles?

  • no because most of the cleaners you buy for your brushes have alcohol in them.

Alcohol will just sanitize it and help dry up the water in your brushes.

  • my mom told me they make brushes from the hair of a horse tail and they don't kill them

  • it's REALLY REALLY SHINY

    add ftw

  • Comment removed

  • O.O

    wow

    scary but then again informative

  • She said she doesn't recommend washing your brushes like she did, so what does it matter if she got the handle wet? It was a test! And she even said she didn't recommend doing it that way. Relax people!

  • @sorrysary agree

  • ahah koren said you are rough with brushes ahaha

  • she wouldn't DARE do that to her MAC brushes

  • I want to see her wash her mac brushes like that. I bet she wouldnt wash them that rough.

  • isn't it bad to get the wood/handle part of the brush wet?

  • Yes because you can cause the top of the brush to rust or water can seep in the top and pull apart from the brush.

  • thanks!

  • she shouldnt get da wood part (handle) get or w cleanser :( bad idea!!!

  • thanks for your review!, I'm allergic to the natural hair brushes

  • =o I'm really interesting in ordering from Coastal Scents! I was wondering if you knew how much it is for shipping to the UK?

  • Hi, I'm also interested in ordering those brushes... but I went to the website and the shipping to Canada was about 35 bucks... which was more than twice the price of the brushes I was interested in. Very disappointing! But I don't know for the uk.

  • i live in canada, and i'm just getting the USPS first class mail international, and with the 100$ worth of stuff I'm getting, the shipping is 17$ :)

  • Maybe I missed something then... does that mean that the more you buy, the less you pay for the shipping... or is it always the same price for whatever you buy?

  • well to be honest, all i did was scroll though all of the diffrent shipping opptions untill one had a cheaper opption :P

  • I went back on the website and your right... the shipping cost is much cheaper then I thought... I guess I just wasn't as bright as you are ;) ! Finally I can have good brushes without having to pay a fortune! Thanks!

  • haha no problem! :)

  • me 2 haha!

  • u think u can give me the names of the brushes

  • hey they dont havr the synthetic foundation brush?

  • hay dios mio no pongas las bruchas asi...yo tengo esa kabuki y ni muerta la lavo asi

  • I finally got my Coastal scents stuff YAY including stippling, eyeliner and Kabuki brushes, Black Gel liner, x2 88 palettes both shimmer and matt etc. I will do a vid review when i get my new camera :) Love mel :)

  • what are the ways to check if your brushes are natural? bcz i already know what the synthetic ones are like but im not sure abt the natural..are the natural ones usually dyed or something?

  • Thanks alot. In another video do you mind listing which popular MAC brushes are synthetic or natural. Some descriptions they say "of natural fibre"..others they just list what the handle is made of, hmmm

  • i love thatgame!!

  • it depends how much you use your makeup brushes

i do mine every 7 uses for face

but for my eyes brushes i clean them more often. every 2 uses or so but thats because i change colors also.

  • is a natural brush made of real fur?

  • goat hair.. or horse hair..or pony hair

  • or sable hair or squirrel hair....I do prefer cruelty free brushes :)

  • How often should makeup brushes be washed?

  • hey pursebuzz

iwant to know if it is good to wash foundation brush every day???? cause i use it to apply moisturizer on and i dont want it to collect bacteria.... by th way my brush is from estee lauder

    thanks

  • hey

iwant to know if it is good to wash foundation brush every day???? cause i use it to apply moisturizer on and i dont want it to collect bacteria.... by th way my brush is from estee lauder

    thanks

  • some people who use them alot I think get several brush sets or at least of the frequently used ones or have a really good set and a cheapie set

  • idk y but i like washing my brushes. i think it's fun....maybe i just get amused easily..idk.

  • I get those little pieces falling out when I wash that badger brush too.... It makes me paranoid when I use it, 'what if I'm leaving them on my face?'

  • thanks for reveiwing this ^^ umm i thought about buying the badger ones, but wich ones do you suggest? like this set or the badger? :)

  • Great VID!!

    Ur really pretty!!

  • That is exactly how i wash my brushes...=D

  • This is a FANTASTIC idea for a brush review.

  • i loved your review. it was really really informative. i think i'll be purchasing some costal scents brushes.

  • i like the first brush

but idk where to get it.

  • how much did you pay for shipping?

  • Hello: can the sintetic or natural brushes be washed with soap?

  • use some cheap shaving cream, like barbasol. works great! you can also clean with it;

    ozonebabyzz

    peace...

  • was wondering how are the brushes doing now? which are the brushes you would actually recommend? :)

  • my bare essentials had hairs that fell out and while I am putting makeup on too. They are horrible. Maybe I just got bad ones??? I should try these.

  • " Were gonna get real tough with it and see what it canm handle!"...Hahaha...I love you girl...Your "TIPS" ... are awsome!!!...i went to the pool and used to "Fake abs"...Video>>> It helped!!!

  • I watched all ur reviews on coastal scents brushes and i got the pink blush brush which was really big for my face and the italian badger kabuki which sheds so i was kinda disappointed =( one question: Is the kabuki brush suppose to be dense? cuz the one i got isn't packed in or anything and it smells =/

  • CO-OP! lol

  • Would you use the same technique when cleaning eye brushes?

  • sorry about my ignorance, but what's a kabuki brush for?

    can anyone answer me? =)

  • a kabuki brush is usually for mineral powders..

theres one in the bare minerals kit, and it's for a really full coverage on your makeup application.

you can also use it for blush or bronzer, but since it holds so much pigment, you may have to blend afterward.

  • teehee! that's so lovely.

  • Nice video! Im always following your tips :)

Im think about buying some CS brushes but I was needing some information about their quality. Unfortunatelly you didnt buy the 187 similar. I wanted so much to know how does it look or feel... :(

  • Pursebuzz what are the exact names of the 3 powder brushes you showed after the kabuki one in the beggining??

  • Brilliant. Thanks Pursebuzz. Love the brushes. Since I am vegetarian I actually prefer synthetic, but also good brushes. These seem to do a great job!

  • can u do a tutorial to how to revove hair onthe body or where we shouldnt removed hair

  • How are the real fur brushes made? Is there any cruelty involved? :(

  • well i heard people from MAC they say that no cruelty they just shave their hair off and what not lmao

  • well i heard people from MAC they say that no cruelty they just shave their hair off and what not lmao

  • Real fur brushes are commonly made of squirrel, mink, sable, horse (sometimes called pony or camel), or goat hair. Mink and sable brushes are products of the cruel fur industry. Horse hair is commonly obtained from horses who are slaughtered for their flesh. Squirrels are hunted or trapped, and goats are shorn like sheep. Workers are often paid by volume, so they shear the goats quickly, which can result in serious injuries.

  • Wow, glad I use synthetic then! Thanks

  • You're welcome. It's always nice to know that some people still care for those animals. :)

  • thats horrible!!!! i have never used fur brushes, but Im never going to. EVER. squirrels...it makes me cry..

  • yeah I know...It's really unbelievable how humans can become the most cruel creatures on earth.

  • Do you eat meat? do you wear leather? do you have suede shoes? Its the same thing. Do you eat chicken? Do you eat pork? Do you eat beef?

Do you eat soup with chicken stock in it?

Its all animals suffering... its not just make up brushes.

  • Where the hell did you hear that? That sounds completely illogical.

  • I have seen it with my own eyes because mygrandmother used to be very poor and she had 3 kids and she had to work there to kill animals for fur

And i have been searching around internet and all that.

My grandmother said you are suppose to kill them with electro thing thang but alot of people didn't it seems like people get joy from hurting them

And this is the truth alot of people does it instead of doing it quickly if you don't believe so, that's not my problem i just hope ya understand

  • oh thanks :) i thouth it was real fur i have to admit i have a cliniqe face brush i think its deer hair or badger im not sure but it fills like great :)

but im using fake hair for now on

  • Great review. I like CS bruhes a lot.

  • purse buzz ur so pretty how did u get ur eyes to have a thick line richt under ur eyelashes at the bottom of ur eyes? thats so pretty! it looks like ur never sleepy or tyred please tell me! its realy hard to keep looking like that for me

  • Is that how you clean the makeup brushes???

  • no, she actually noted that its not, she said she was just testing the dulability. hope this helped.

  • exactly what i was thinking lol

  • could you PLEASSSSSEEEEE do a video on eyeshadows that really suite blue / gray eyes, i find that the greens, blues, pinks, colors like that suite brown eyes much much nicer !!!

    Id REALLY love it <3

  • wow lol pursebuzz ur so funny. i lost on the guessing game. hehe

  • LOL... lets blame the speakers hahah

  • i got this one brush from bare essentials the flawless face brush but when i brought it , it smells bad nd when i washed it the color came out so i guess it was dyed. nd the hair came out tooh/ does dat mean its a bad brush?

  • No its not bad. Just make sure you wash it before you use it :)

  • I was checking out the syth brushes on CS the other day. Being vegan I am always looking for nice animal-free brushes. I just orderd a new set from Hard Candy for $15. The set is very nice for daily use and travel.

  • thanks!!! for the review.

  • Awesome review! :) I love how you test the "toughness" of the brush! Yeah! lol

  • yay thanks for making a video about brushes! i cant wait to order some from coastalscents!

  • I think they sell brush cleaners that cleans em better than soup

  • Great review! I absolutely love your videos...they've made me re-discover makeup all over again! Thank you!

Quick question...does anyone know if coastal scents deliver to the UK?

  • yes they do :)

  • DON'T FORGET TO RECYCLE AND STAY GREEN EVERYBODY! please help!! we need it to keep the world going! :)

    PLEASE HELP OUR PLANET!!

    p.s. I <3, u pursebuzz! :)

  • i really love the fact that people start more and more using synthetic brushes. i know, that all the squirrels, fox, ponies and badgers are not killed (they aren't, right??) for that purpose (fur for brushes) but it is sure not a pleasure being held for that :(

so, people, keep the positive reviews and comments about synthetic brushes comming and spread the word! real fur for cosmetics/fashion seems just so... cruel if you own a pet yourself :´(

  • Haha i've always washed my brushes like this & they are still going strong =p

  • Do you wash all your brushes this way? It seems like you're torturing it...lol

  • It was just for a test x

  • i didn't no they were made out of animal fur :0 noooo, i'm only gonna use synthetic now, poor animals

  • hahahha im watching this like O_O

what is she doing! she has the kabuki sitting up! THE HANDLE IS WET!!!!!

then i remembered it was for a test, lol

  • haha! Me too!

  • Hahah. OMG imagine if I did this with all brushes:P I'd have to buy new ones every month :P

  • Did they dry well?

  • Yes, but it was colder here so it took a whole full day to dry. They take a few seconds longer to fluff up, but still soft and nice :)

  • you totally abused those brushes for us!

  • Yes the things I do for you guys :) xxoo

  • recycle haha shes soo cute

  • i LOVE how you totally kill them, for our benefit! thanks!! =D

  • i really respect how you dont use animal fur =]

  • I don't think that she limits herself to just synthetic.

  • I thought we weren't supposed to area between the wooden part and the ferreule (sp?)? Anyway, these brushes look amazing.. I'm contemplating on getting some badger brushes :D

  • This is a test. Don't do anything rough like this to your brushes :)

  • I feel stupid for asking, but what's the kabuki brush for? The big round flat one? Foundation? Blush? Powder?

  • I have that brown handled brush - the badger buffer brush and I LOVE IT! It's so dense, yet soft and affordable.

  • i NEVER knew you could clean brushes like that. omg. i've been buying and throwing away brushes every month and never even thought about cleanning them THAT WAY. haha THANK YOU SO MUCH<3

  • i dont recommend going at it like this. This is just a test :P

But a deep clean is always good :)

  • ausome thats compleatyly ausommee

  • I was surprised to find dye and an odor when I washed one of the pink coastal brushes. Nothing to worry about, but was unaware that could happen. Definitely washing my brushes before using them from now on. Thanks!

  • I have kind of a dumb ? for anyoen whow ants to answer it... i recently got into the powder mineral foundation and i was wondering what brush does the best for that kind of application? kabuki or no? im lost and I use this stupid blush brush that makes it all gunky looking...ick HELP lol :P Im def. gonna check these brushes out they look quality.

  • I personally recommend the kabuki brush for a full & even coverage. :)

  • yes, I agree with sophearrrrrrr. Kabuki's give a full and even coverage :) And it buffs it into your skin to give you a more natural look :)

  • Two weeks later, my order finally arrived. Whew!

  • You are amazing!!! you seem to be a very optimistic and funn person! you dare to do everything in order to show us something... this is so great!!! in this momento i'm not feeling very well but watching your vids make me smile and feel better!! thank u so much!!

  • Yay.. I hope you are feeling better today :)

  • I have a question not related to the brushes. In watching this video I noticed how healthy and nice your nails look. I know you do videos on makeup apps but I was wondering if you could do a video on nails and nail care. I used to get acrylic nails and that totally messed my nails up and now I am trying to get my nails back to being healthy and long again but I am having a difficult time doing it since they are very fragile and brittle. I would really appreciate it. Thank you. Love your channel

  • you sound like your alot of fun at work!

  • Might be an odd question, but how long did it take for the flat top kabuki to dry? I have a synthetic flat top already and it seems much smaller but because the bristles are soo dense so I need to have a day in advance planned out for it to dry!

  • lol its been a day and its still wet :P

  • I use cheap brushes, and even though the bristles fall out...they do seem to do the job anyway though and they don't come out too bad =P

And the eyeshadow pallete is sold out T__T I wanted it so bad

  • wow u scrubbed the crap put of them dats good! I think ima get the kabuki i was looking for that one at a good price

  • OMG you should.. its soo soft. I haven't applied makeup with it yet. But I think it's way softer than my other Kabuki.

  • thank you so much for doing this, i really appreciate that you are testing and abusing :-)) your brushes for us. i'll definately be picking up the one that looks like MAC 183 (the blunt cut buffer brush).

  • Thanks! I have fun doing it too! I think its a great test to share with you guys. Don't do it to yours though :P

  • wow, you're a blonde now! it looks really nice! just in time for the summer. :) makes me miss my blonde hair!

  • which is better to use natural or synthetic?

  • Hey pursebuzz, when you play back your vids do you think that your voice sounds diff to what you think you sound like in 'real life'? When I recorded my vids I found I sounded totally different so therefore I didn't want to make a vid haha.. Do you find this is the case too? Thanks =] and keep up the GREAT work! xx

  • everybody feels that... because when you hear your voice the sound comes directly out of your mouth and through the bones in the head to your ears and for that is a different frequency than when you're just listening to the voice :)

  • So do I sound what I sound on video in 'real life' or completely different buy what you telling me?

I feel my voice is higher pitched and childish when I listen back on my vids, so I think lol..

Thank-you very much for your answer =] x

  • I think everyone sounds differently on camera and in real life. It's ok.. just show us your videos ;)

  • Thanks guys =] Made me feel better now lol.. I am going to do a few videos once I figure out how to put them on here through my webcam.. *sighs*..

Anyone got any sites for converting webcam things to video for YouTube, free and on Windows 2000 (not XP or Vista)... Thanks..

Oh and Windows Movie Maker don't work for me lol x

  • i thought you're not supposed to get the ferrule part wet or the wood will eventually rot and the handle would separate from the ferrule and the bristles..hmm?..just curious..:)..thanks!

  • Hey U! Yes, be careful when washing your brushes. I am just testing the heck out of these brushes to see if the bristles will fall out. That's why I always say don't wash it like this :P

  • can you tell me or do a video on the right way to wash brushes? and waht to look for? if you can thanks

  • Hi, Check on "ENKORE" videos, he has pleanty of vids about that+some very great crafts and LOTS of great make up.. Pursebuzz has mention him many times, he is terrific!

  • okay thanks!

  • I received my coastal scents brushes and I absolutely love them. Their products are amazing! Thanks again for the tip!

  • i went to the website, what do you think about the Supreme Synthetic 15 pc Brush Set with Case for 19.95?

  • I don't know. I can only vouch for what I have. Which are all the pieces I have shown on youtube :)
