Compared to the glorious 60s, 70s, 80s and to some extent the 90s, music is dead now and it has been for the last decade or so. The computerized disco/techno rhythm and the way they remix old songs, not to mention how idiotic and repetitive rap music is, one can officially announce the end of musical creativity and originality.

@IHateStalagmites It is great that you got exposed to good music at a young age. When I was young, I was listening to Aerosmith, Van Halen, and some other classical stuff. Then I got into alternative, hard rock, heavy metal, and more recently I got into progressive rock/metal, jazz fusion, new age meditative, and I've opened up to every genre. I honestly tried getting into the pop music when I was younger, but it didn't phase me, it didn't touch me, I was touched by the good music.
I'm opened up to everything except crap. That's it.
My music has to be beautiful when it comes to aesthetics, and it has to be beautiful when it comes to the lyrics; it has to make a point, it HAS to speak to me.

Compared to the glorious 60s, 70s, 80s and to some extent the 90s, music is dead now and it has been for the last decade or so. The computerized disco/techno rhythm and the way they remix old songs, not to mention how idiotic and repetitive rap music is, one can officially announce the end of musical creativity and originality.

in the 60's we had the beatles, plus various other good artists.
in the 70's it weren't so great, but we had john lennon and later punk bands.
In the 80s we had, of course, michael jackson
in the 90s, we had very few good chart toppers, nirvana.
I mean, even if you don't like these artists above, there is no question that they've had a impact on music.

@IHateStalagmites It is great that you got exposed to good music at a young age. When I was young, I was listening to Aerosmith, Van Halen, and some other classical stuff. Then I got into alternative, hard rock, heavy metal, and more recently I got into progressive rock/metal, jazz fusion, new age meditative, and I've opened up to every genre. I honestly tried getting into the pop music when I was younger, but it didn't phase me, it didn't touch me, I was touched by the good music.
