Hey, could you tell me the name of this song? I put in into my ipod but I dont have anything to use as the title...I could probably come up with something in jap, but my japanese skills are sucky, and besides, what i came up with can never match the original name! ^_^
If your mic is uni-directional you won't have much of a problem. Good luck. Oh, I just reviewed my posts; OMG so many typos. I must proof my posts before I put them up.
I don't know what computer you're using, but most newer system allow for a USB microphone which fairly inexpensive. If you use a Mac, like I do, you'll find it very easy to plug in and use. One other thing, to make your taped videos more interesting, try cutting from a long shot to a close-up or vice versa, or do a reverse angle. Also, when possible, cut to the beat of the music. You may already know this, so forive me if I being presumptuous.
Not presumptuous at all- thanks for the advice. As for mikes, one problem is fan-noise from my desktop. But with a long cable, I could use it in the next room. I do have a very good mike from former projects.
I recommend making comments as you tape. Then, when you edit use the on-camera commentary as a guide; re-write the commentary, doing research on the subject or topic, if necessary. Then record this commentary so you get a good, clean audio track and lay this over your video. I believe you will pickup a wider audience if they learn something about the subject they are watching. Good luck. I'll be watching for more of you work.
Thanks very much for the suggestions. In my case, I'm either taking photos or making video from a digicam (in the case of my 'virtual tours'). So maybe bring along a voice recorder, or just jotting my impressions in a notebook. There is certainly a link between what I am thinking at the time and the photo I chose to take. Certainly, taking into a microphone back at home seems to be the best- it's just not clear enough on location (my original intention with the 'virtual tours').
It was just a suggestion. Ultimately, as an artist, you need to express yourself the way that suits you best. Don't change your style unless it's something you truly want to do. Either way, I enjoy your work.
Thanks, Cyborlite, the suggestion is very welcome, though. I actually want to make videos of my speaking, but I'm not so sure about speaking into the camera. This might just be a way to do this!
Thanks, I will bear this in mind, maybe have alternate versions as 'video responces' for this. My idea is that people sit back and relax to them, but I could give them something to meditate on, too...
Thanks for the feedback, both of you. Sometimes it's hard for me to see how others experience the piece- maybe I'll make a shorter version as I made for 'Flowers of Japan' as the Directors Cut (the opposite of most film director's cuts, which are usually longer!)

It would be wonderful if you added narration to some of your work. Loved the images.
