Take a real good look at Pau's OVERALL basketball resume, both NBA and INTERNATIONAL. He's WON so many hoop titles and awards that most of us ordinary yokels can only drool about. What these 2 have accomplished makes them ABSOLUTE Naismith Basketball Hall of Famers.

Gasol was not playing good in Memphis anymore and Marc Gasol is playing good now for the Grizzlies. Everyone thinks the trade was just Kwame for Pau, it wasn't. His scouting reports were pretty solid, not a guarantee he would be as good as he was now, but ideal for a rebuilding team.

Yeah well the rights to Marc Gasol was also in the trade, which was a really nice pickup for the Grizz. He's younger and so will last longer in the league than his brother. The Lakers needed a more immediate addition to prevent Kobe from leaving, so both parties benefited

@tothebeaty0 Teams are allowed to go over the cap, they just have to pay 2 dollars for every dollar they are over the cap. And Stern had nothing to do with the trading of Gasol, just like he had nothing to do with the heat being traded James and Bosh for draft picks. And don't forget that Marc Gasol was a part of the trade as well, Marc isn't as good as Pau but he's one of the best PF's in the NBA.

Every year good players get traded for shitty players who has big contracts so that the next season they have room to work with. Kwame Brown really, really sucked, and Pau Gasol turned the whole Lakers franchise around. Before Gasol, they couldn't even make it into the Western Conference Finals, now of course, they are repeat NBA champions.
Basically, Gasol is a lot better of a player than Kwame Brown.
