  • Love the other-worldly quality. One of my all time favorites.

  • Heard a lot of covers of this one over the years..This is truly one of the best.

  • @17405pop I completly agree.

  • Only my opinion but...this is CRAP :/ Listen to Tim O'Brien's version...or JERRY GARCIA!! Jerry's version is pure GOLD!! GDF <3

  • I have to disagree. I think that the T O'Brien & J Garcia versions are more of the same clippity clop campfire cowboy style. Occasionally an artist will perform a cover version of a particular song and make it the definitive version. Frank Sinatra & Elvis Presley were masters of this. I believe Jagger has done so with Long Black Veil. The Chieftans haunting backing combines with MJ's vocals to make this the only version that sounds like its sung from the grave.Technically good also!

  • Awesome! The instrumental backing is beautiful.

  • Best of the best. Mick and Stones always show respect for the music that came before.

  • Such a haunting song. And Mick just raised the bar so high. Just goes to show how much appreciation he had for american folk music.

  • I love this side of Mick Jagger. When he sings like this, it reinforces the power of his voice. All that plus The Chieftains. With this song they created a barometer of beauty that others will have to be measured by. Thanks for the upload. Take it easy.---Kirk

  • Wow!!!!!I love this version,Mick Is awesome!!!!He puts so much meaning into it.I have listen to many versions from Johnny Cash to Lefty Frizzell and this one by far is the best for me!!!!!!!!

  • @ seangray1984 I'm 21 and I know that Mick Jagger is the Rolling Stones' singer. I only wrote wrong his name in the description...

  • Best version

  • A Lefty Frizzell classic. Has been covered by many people. Dale Watson and The Band do excellent renditions. This one's up there.

  • I'm more familiar with this tune and a different video. Great song by anybody, but this one with the haunting music GIVES CHILLS. Kudos to Chris' brother Mickey for super selling of the lyrics. CHILLING!

  • thanks mino, this is a geat version of this song

  • Could Mike be Mick's twin sound-a-like? : )

  • have to agree johnny cashes version is better

  • I don't know who mike jagger is, but there is the name of mick jagger
