  • I haven't started a family yet, but it's something I'm actively researching and planning for now. I'm definitely CDing. I get intrigued by a some diapering systems for a while (latest infatuation: G-Diapers) but always seem to go back to basics w/the prefolds/flats. In trying to simplify CDing some companies have made it ridiculous. Let's see: a couple extra secs to fasten a pin or a couple extra mins to spray off a soiled cover an insert was just LAID into? Easy-peasy? I think not.

  • Flat diapers are great for cleaning rags

  • Thank You so much! I tried CDing w/ my DD but I never could get them tight in the legs and Diaper covers were either too tight in the waist or too loose in the legs. I'm now due for #2 in Feb and looking forward to saving a lot of money by cloth diapering.

  • Hi, thanks for the video! could you please tell me how you folded your flat into a prefold? thanks!

  • I really would like to try hemp prefolds... I heard they are super absorbent which is what I need with my baby girl. She is my third child but the first one I've ever cloth diapered. She is a preemie and 4 months old now. Currently we use Kissaluvs and some covers, and the Kissaluvs are ok but not what she needs. I'm just really scared of using pins on her. You make it look so easy!

  • When my niece was born in 1984, my sister tried cloth on her. I was scared to death I would stick her. We finally ended up with four dozen cloth diapers that were not used, she switched to Huggies, we used Huggies with the other two and my niece used Huggies with her son too.

  • Thank you for showing the leg pull! I have been trying to cloth diaper my son for the past 3 months and had lots of problems with pinning the right, than the left, back to the right to make sure it is tight enough on the legs, and than one last re-pin on the left. I'm excited for him to wake up from his nap. Even if the diaper is clean, I may change it still anyways :)

  • Thank you for the demonstration- I will be using cloth diapers(very soon, due Thanksgiving) and have been stressing over how to really pin a diaper. Everyone is trying to discourage me with claims that it is an inconvenience and difficult to use, but I'm glad you posted a video that proves otherwise.

  • I used Snappi's for my daughter for months but couldn't stand them. They caught on everything if she was coverless. She scratched herself several times on them. I also didn't want the added pressure it puts on their genitals. When I had my son, I learned to pin and have loved it for the past year and a half. As for an accident waiting to happen... I'm going on a year and a half without my son getting stuck at all :) Go pins!

  • @bobbleheadevan I agree, when I look at snappis, I love the concept, but I would think it would be difficult for a more mobile baby on their stomach. I would think they'd be able to feel it pressing into the floor while trying to scoot around on their stomach.

  • I love using pins over the snappi. It's easy and its not really outdated. it is what is easier to you and how you do it. The snappi is quicker yes. But, sometimes it don't hold like pins when they are scooting on the floor .

  • It's actually not a very stretchy flat. It's a GMD flat (birdseye)that I dyed. Your pf's might be too small if they don't fit around the waist.

  • @bobbleheadevan

How did you dye them? Dylon? They look so cute :)

  • Please tell me what type/brand of wonderfully stretchy flat is that? I still have a hard time stretching my GMD prefolds to pin..

  • wow, you made that look so easy. Maybe I won't completely give up on pins quite yet.

    Thanks for posting!!

  • Wow, that's an awesome pinning job.

  • I agree lilnorse!!! Yay cloth!

  • nice pinning job ,more parents need to use cloth diapers.earth friendly !!
