LJ & Wee Gee were influenced by David Ruffin & Dennis Edwards, Ron Banks was influenced by Eddie Kendricks & Willie Ford was influenced by Melvin Franklin.
Okay, he could riff....when they sang it hit my heart like a bolt of lightning.....Sure during the time they came out, there were so many groups out at the same time but you know what they all had the ingredients to stand out from one another and that YOUNG FOLKS IS HOW MUSIC IS MADE....YOU KNOW....BEING ORIGINAL...and the Dramatics were definitely that.
I grew up in Detroit in the 70's. The Dramatics represented the "D" to the fullest. Not too long ago I drove by the old United Sound Studio where they recorded a lot of their albums. Those were the days.

Simply Wonderful the 70"s. The Dramatics were one of all time favorites. If anyone has "Let One Hurt Do" by L J Reynolds please put it on you tube. I have the 45. I guess that dates me. LOL
WOW... i first heard this song when I was 15, gave me the chills back then and it still does..so beautiful...Im 30 now...I love this song. Thanks for posting!
causes me great excitement to hear these great groups in soul music and r & b, for a time pretty hard to forget, to hear your beautiful songs gives me the same feeling of nostalgia, as when you hear singing those wonderful 70s . thank you for this unforgettable memory
3 times this morn so many great songs the dramatics 1 of the best groups of alltime prince rashid and all the ancient brothers of chicago will miss MR `BANKS
I was in the military when this came out and me & my boy "Smitty" would play this jam all night long with a little assistance from some herbal essences. Rest In Peace Ron....
Now this is just beautiful... kinda reminds me of somethin the Delfonics would sing, but I actually think Johnnie Taylor's version of this is the best. But this is beautiful indeed. The old school sound just has no equal.
Dramatics yes. baby my all time favorites, will play these songs forever they always sound so good to me. Thank you for posting, when I was a young girl early teens listening only liking the music but not understanding the music now understanding the words and loving the music God you really appreciate true talent like this. thanks
lol i bought a record player a few years ago and went through some of my moms old records and found this and played, you woulda thought she was a havin a vietnam flashback. homegirl was trippin, one falsh move and i coulda been cut
@sole48341 that's funny man, I was playin this on my ipod to my dad n uncle n they first thought it was the commodores, but they could really feel this jam. I was 20 when I first heard this song, this is a classic, it shoulda went to number one in 1972, but it peaked at #49, but the singer is doin a great job tellin a story bout a woman who messed with his mind. Great stuff..o yea tell homegirl that im LJ Reynolds LMAO
I read on the back of a Dramatics Bio where after WeeGee left they hired LJ and wanted him to sound like WeeGee. You can kinda hear it here on this song. It was short lived though and LJ became his own SINGER LATER ON!
all I can say is that I HAVE ALLWAYS LOVED ME SOME DRAMATICS i don,t care who sang lead, the crack in his voice near the end dramatize the pain and desperation of a rejected lover like no other to date!!
I love these guys. I never gave a thought to what could happen to us (the Black community) if "they" took these sounds and story away. Well, we still suffer 4 a lack of music such as this.
@BrotherFlagg I agree Brother that the quality and negativity in black music over the past couple of years has had a direct impact on the people(young and old). But keep hope alive...there are a lot of youngsters that respect the old school music and are trying to save the beauty and power of soul music.
Tis a blessing to just relax and hear my jams sometimes! Thank you, for posting this it is excellent. 10* I will always have a serious love for the Dramantics. They are unmatched.
weege Howard, and LJ can sing their asses off right with Ruffin, Dennis, Eddie Levi,Eugene Record,Gerald Alston,G.C. Cameron. Phillipe Wynn, Marvin Junior, Teddy,Ben E King,Lionel Richie,Smokey, Curtis, jerry Butler, ron Isley, great lead singers of the 1960's 70's 80's
@eldivie4 Lenny, Ron, and all of them, we can just go on and on but definately all of the Dramatics and now that we say others. LJ's sister was badd too.
And I Panicked is by far one of the most heart-felt, moving love song that emphasize the desperation of what a man feels when the love he feels is jeopardized. But there are a few others that rank right up there with L.J. For instance, Leroy Hutson, David Ruffin, Terry Huff and a few other truly gifted voices. I love and live for the soul piercing experiences that only the Black vocalist liken these can bring. And I am forever thankful to these artist for soothing my restless soul!!!
Eddie Levert and The O'Jays came to Chene Park in 2003, and Eddie said LJ Reynolds would wait for Eddie to come to Detroit and SING HIM UNDER THE TABLE at the club after the show!!! Battling Baritones, huh? SANG, LJ!!!

Wee Gee wasn't on the next one. At the time this album came out Wee Gee had his own Dramatics...they were suing each other for the name..hence this album being called ..Ron Banks and The Dramatics. Wee Gee wasn't on another album til their reunion in 1986. 12 years after this album.
