Has anyone out there upgraded the power supply in this thing? It's a nice PC but the PSU is a whimpy 375w or 425w - I would like to do 600 or 700w but have read some where about that the mother board on this frying from too much power??? Dont know if thats true or not or just one of those freak things that happen.
@mamothcar1 Recently upgraded using a Corsair HX 650W PSU which has Modular design. The MoBo is BTX but has ATX power requirements. Its the MB and components that draws the required current from the PSU, rather than the other way around. Whatever you do, don't skimp on the PSU quality as those can cause problems.
This was my first personal computer, and I loved it. X38 chipset, excellent cable management, but powersupply could have been a little stronger. I had to mod the back of my case to get my Thermaltake Toughpower Express cables routed into the machine so i could fully power my ATI HD 3870 toxic. then I switched to 8800GT. Now I have built my own custom machine =). But I am still keeping my 420.
just got one of these last week!!!! it is sooooo cool!!, it is an absalute beast for its price 2000 bucks aus!!!!!!! i can play fsx on ultra high graphics. i love this pc, only problem old grphics card and mobo is not sli compatable
Not the last time I went there. Back BEFORE they took down 420 from the main list, it could only get up to an 8800 gts. And you shouldn't be calling people "retard" when you can't even spell.
I'm so excited though, I just received my XPS 420 yesterday, can't wait to open up all these boxes! It feels like Christmas morning all over again.. :)
