As someone who suffered from chest pains for over 2 years, and being told nothing was wrong, I appreciate my cardiologist. She was doing an angiogram when I started having chest pains during the procedure (they give you meds so you won't feel pain). she then told my husband I had 2 blockages, one bad enough for a stent, and that I have Prinzmetal Angina. She told my husband that any time I have chest pain I am to go the hosp. This type of angina can cause me to have a massive heart attack.
I keep having weird chest pains that don't register on the eck, and I'm seeing god. My problem seems to be in my brain. The doctor said that my heart is healthy.
Only, ignorant, simple minded people. Would make fun of somebody trying to help people! So what if he pronounces a word wrong! He is trying to give people "PROVEN MEDICAL FACTS" about the heart!
@mamachris1 ur right. mostly if you've had foreign professor, that doesn't give a right to make fund of them. 'cause they understand what they're teaching is just the pronunciation.
Yes it is bad for me this year. I feel my heart muscle is not getting the necessary oxygen it needs, and I know this sounds crazy but beer contains alot carbonated oxygen and when I drink one during an attack it eases my pain.
i think he pronounced angina correctly coz this is the American accent!!!! yesterday an american prof gave us a lecture about angina and he pronounced angina the same>>>
@getoutofmyway01 I dont see how that is sad. Its just a word. And if you are going to claim to be a medical expert you should have the professionalism and knowledge to pronounce a word correctly, EVEN if it might cause simple minded people to giggle a little.
@Aprilshowersss I agree. Now I'm confused. I don't know how to pronounce it! So when I go to the doctors for my chest pain, and I say I have a problem with AnGINA, I don't want them to tell me to go to the GYN. Oh, calm down, I'm just having a little fun with this. I have chest pains. That's why I came here. Now I know a little bit more about AnGENA... LOL I mean AnGINA!
@Aprilshowersss Well its a little bit difficult to pronounce words correctly when english doesnt have strict pronunciation rules unlike for example spanish... when I read a new word in english it is almost imposible to figure out how to pronounce it until I check it out in the dictionary
i had chest pain in bed when i was knocking one out into a sock.....an angina attack came on when my mother caught me wanking off and hit me full force with a shoe........the slack ole bitch.
i went on this posting in the hope of learning what condition i had but spent 3 minutes laughing at this mans wig......its the worst hairpiece ive seen next to ernest ainsleys.........
i did try a pure brown rice diet for about a week and my chest pain decreased significantly. no more sharp pain, and my chest pounding was fading. the problem was that my energy levels were falling drastically. in 1970 the FLQ kidnapped James Cross (British Trade Commissioner) and fed him a diet of brown rice only. when he was released, his heart problems were non existant! i must find a way to make this diet work! i will be trying a product called angioprim though. check it out!
I am 15 years old, and have SVT and an opening between an artery and vein,
they are unrelated,
I first found out about SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) when I was in 3rd grade, it acted up then, in 6th grade,k and was acting up again now in 9th
It's been fine for the past month or so,
but I've been having chest pain recently...
It may be angina due to the hole
Could anybody tell me if this is normal from either SVT or the hole? :)
i'm a 25 year old male and i have the same thing. certain foods exacerbate the conditions, and sometimes i get sharp pains in my chest which last until i sleep no matter if i exercised or not. i've been getting muscle weakness, leg pain, etc. i have a very hard time falling asleep as my heart seems to be pounding in my chest, and even after 10 hours of rest, i do not feel adequately refreshed. i've tried exercising but that leaves me even more exhausted.
@ddxdh How are your parents like meaning, do they have heart complications? Are you taking stupid pills for working out, hos your diet, lifestyle, and personal habits. are u often stressed? do you smoke cigarettes or cigars? If it is over 15 mins and its not relieved by rest it could be a MI (myocardial infarction aka heart attack). 40 to 60 year old men are the average for MI's. Are you overweight (BMI > 25)? hope this helps.
angina is a chest pain produced by insufficient blood flow in the myocardium resulting in myocardial ischemia. probable causes are atherosclerosis and coronary artery spasm. risk factors are smoking, diabetes, sedentary lifestyle, hypertension and high fats/cholesterol intake.
One of the risk factors for Angina is Diabetes due to the blockade of micro vessels that supply blood to the endocardium. Patients with uncontrolled blood sugar levels are at high risk.
@xPlantpoTx Probably, but it is a risk factor for CAD (Coronary Artery Disease) which leads to angina or MI"s (Myocardial infarctions aka heart attacks). Smoking, HIgh LDL (low density lipoprotein), genetic factors, poor lifestyle, hypertension (high blood pressure), men over 60/women over 70 are also risk factors. I hope this helps. Source: Pathology Notes for RMT's.
I also have bad genes, my grandfather and my father both died young(Heart Attacks) but i thaught if i looked after myself i would be OK. I was wrong i am only 32 and have Printzmetal's.
I now have to carry Nitro-Quick 0.4mg Sublingual Tabs with me and take a maximum of 3 in a 15 min. period, when I get chest pain. If the pain doesn't go away after the 3rd tab, then I have to call emergency. I'm slim, I don't eat dairy products, saturated fats or smoke, but my Father and older brothers passed away at young ages. It's a real bummer when it is genetically hereditary after spending all your life being careful with good diet and exercise!
@AsUmoveOnRememberMe Don't forget ot reduce salt intake as well. People forget about salt and only think of "calories" and "Trans fats". Some products out their make themselfs look like its healthy but they have full of salt or sugar. By the way sugar transforms into fat when you consume in excess. I'm not a nutritionist but I did take a nutrition course.
4 Wks ago, I had what was diagnosed as "Chronic Angina Pectoris" while at work. I wasn't feeling stressed when the attack happened. After suffering this attack, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy; the pain was incredible, restricted my breathing and took emergency crews 1 1/2 hours to stabilize. I was on I.V. Oxygen and had two hits of Nitro. After the 2nd hit of Nitro the pain began to dissipate.
I get chest pain when i inhale, this mostly happens in hot summer days, i also get "stabbing" pain my heart and it shoots down my left arm all the way to my elbow or fingertips. Are these signs of Angina? because i've been to a doctor and he said my heart muscle is having spasm's.
@leaderOFlosers Angina Pectoris is also called "strngled chest". usually only lasts a few minutes. Pain can refer locally or to neck, chin, or left arm to elbow. If I was your doctor I would have also have done a TOS (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome) test just in case its not just tight muscles or etc because u said shooting pain, that usually mean a nerve is impinged (the brachial complexus). And you said u have chest pain when u inhale, that could be intercoastal muscles from cardio workouts.
yes,but you must consult your doctor, and request a heart scan,64 slice ct scan,at your local imaging center, you may need surgery,or stenting, but do somthing fast

Prinzmetal angina causes the arteries to spasmism...if it continues for 30 minutes you CAN die. Just wanted to clarify that point.
