  • Is the coolest single sailboat I ever saw!

  • Nice hiking.

  • beautiful boat, i bet its a joy to sail. kinda reminds me of an international 110; responsiveness of a dinghy but with a keel to give you a fighting chance in heavy winds

  • @fiercebrett

We were inspired by the International 110 as well as the Flying Fifteen

  • how do you drop the kite???

  • Furl it and then drop the halyard and let the furled kite rest on the foredeck, just like you do it on a trimaran or a catamaran. The boat comes with a spinnaker bag attached to the cabin hatch.

  • @nispeterlorentzen can you furl the kite and leave it up?

  • When will you exhibit in Australia?

  • The first Scandinavian Cruiser 20 is on the way to Australia. Visit Scandinavian Cruisers on Facebook for a listing of all the events and boat shows coming up in Australia.

  • Beautiful Boat. Great price tag as well. Does the keel retract easily? Or is this boat limitted to deap water sailing?

  • The Scandinavian Cruiser 20 is equipped with a lifting keel and lifting rudder for access to shallow coves and harbors.

The keel can be lifted and locked in the center side lock pin hole, which will reduce the draft from approx. 1.35m to 0.85m. In this position the boat will still be able to sail, even though the drift will increase.

Any sailing in shallow water should be conducted with great care and only in calm wind and seas to avoid potential keel damage from running aground.

  • The Scandinavian Cruiser 20 is exhibited in Halle 17 - A79.

  • What a beautiful boat. Looking forward to seeing one at the RYA Dinghy Show in March in the UK.

  • Beautiful boat...

But its not a dinghy! :-)

And it doesn't look that it would be very fast - but I guess that's not the point.

    cheers

  • The modern keel and rudder makes her fast - no doubt about it. I sailed upwind next to a J80, pointing 5 degrees higher and going much faster. I started 100 meters behind the J80, and was 100 meters ahead to windward in no time. In all fairness, in light wind the J80 could not reach hull speed, but the SC 20 did easily.

On a reach with the asymmetrical spinnaker she is also fast. She is very easy to jibe by just one person. The high boom, self-tacking jib and GNAV vang helps a lot.

  • The Scandinavian Cruiser 20 will be exhibited at the following boat shows:

    Boot Dusseldorf

    Jan 23-31, 2010

    Opening hours: 10.00-18.00 daily

RYA Volvo Dinghy Show: 6-7 March 2010, Alexandra Palace, London

    Norwegian International Boat Show

    Mar 12-21, 2010

    Opening hours: Mon-Fri 12.00-20.00, Sat/Sun 11.00-18.00
