This is the buggiest product ever. And if it would be for communist revolutionaries you would be in prison and not own a data-modem. Or, how many people use data-modems in Cuba?
I've been looking & looking but I just couldn't find it. Can someone please tell me where I can find a single source/website that compares 3 to 5 of the major personal wifi hotspot carriers. I know about Verizon's MiFi and I know Sprint has one too but I would love to have a single place that compares the prices of the hardware, software, and service that I would have to get. If anyone knows about a website that does this then please let me know, thanks.
I used to do the same but it means you can't use your phone as a phone.. and the battery only lasts half an hour on the iPhone.. and the data rate is nowhere near as fast and what you can get on the MiFi.

If you buy an unlocked mifi (Novatel wireless) it will take any sim. Pay as you go or contract data. I use a contract dat sim from a dongle.

I find it just as easy to setup an adhoc network between my mac and my iphone to use my iPhones connection as a router when our internet goes down.

That is true, but unless you need it on a daily basis it really isn't worth £200 what it is.

Combined with a little solar panel it has become a constant companion in my tech bag. I am sure there will be cheaper options out soon. :)
