eh she is all dramatic.. weight loss like this is about big changes.. and I doubt it is what she's trying to make it out to be. Dehydration... ha yeah right..
I was annoyed with her through the show ... she is a very angry woman who seemed to want drama all the time. I think this is just another way for her to get more fame and that she is actually a failure.
also too...wen u go on dont they makes u read and sign this thing saying they arent responsible for any physical or mental damages that happened to u as a result of the show...like u go in at ur own risk?
Look at all the contestants who have done an INCREDIBLE job of staying fit after the show. This woman put up with pressure. Yes. But... so what? Part of being an adult is learning to deal with pressure and do what is best for yourself. If she really felt it was unhealthy/wrong for her, she had every right to leave.
It's Kai's fault. Not the show. All of the contestants that enter the show have to leave eventually. She obviously couldn't control herself and her weight outside the show. That's why she gained a lot of weight. There are some contestants for example Ali Vincent who has kept the weight off after the show. Kai obviously doesn't know how to control herself. Also if you're training at a very high intensity then you're bound to pull massive weight losses.
Laughable. People would rather be lied to... Good job, Kai. Wow, these people were right out lying to the us (weekly my butt). Glad I never watched the show...With how people voted in the last president election, I guess it shows they do not mind being lied to. These comments on here also prove that as well. Hey guys supporting the show still....I have a bridge I want to sell you...
she still milking her 15 min of fame. She has all the right to put the weight back on. She could have walked off campus at any time she stayed for the money and still wants more.
By myths, she means that the regular weigh in is not 7 days, it is 10-12 days so the show encourages that it is possible to lose freakin 35 lbs in 7 days !!
I feel like you guys you guys did not HEAR well what she said! She WAS grateful, she said that the show encourages myths and unhealthy weight loss it CAUSES heart attacks . EVEN Bob and Jillian said that they are afraid that someone will eventually die from the show! JILLIAN even QUIT from the show! UNDERSTAND well you noobs! This show is fuckin dangerous!
The show is pure theatre nothing else it has not a thing to do with healthy eating, people who are having a go at this brilliant brave lady are simply dumb, The biggest looser is a looser for the health of obece people no one who weighs so much should be treated like a fu**ing green beret come on people its got nothing to do with making people more healthy it has everything to do with making exciting tv. The biggest looser hates fat people and makes a mockery of them.
I also read on another interview she said she was working out five to eight hours each day and consuming less than 1,000 calories each day. She suspected the producers wanted a woman to win the show, and felt pushed to continue punishing workouts, despite hair loss, bruising and hangups about food so extreme, her family insisted she see a therapist. Who thinks that is treating her good ??? She was feeling guilty for inspiring people based on lies. "I help perpetuate a myth that is dangerous.."
She talked about the pressure she was on and that she left with an eating disorder because of the pressure on her. SHe didn't say: They made me do this" she said "I take full responsability" Understand the message before judging or making stupid comments people!!!
People is NOT understanding Kai's message. She said she was grateful, she is NOT blaming anything on anyone at any moment. She is just said the truth, she wants to let people know you CAN"T lose that much weight in one week because people thinks that and they want to do the same thing. All that causes ppl to become anorexic or bulimic.
Yes it's a show and everyone on it is free to get what ever they want out of it. I believe that it shows people that have no hope that anything is possible. I think that bashing a show that has a very positive effect on most people is probably not the most effective way to help others understand Kai's journey. There are ways to communicate post show challenges without attacking the thing that she says she is very grateful for. It's possible to help people without harming others. If you want!

Was the weigh-in's 1 week, 2 weeks, three weeks? "I'm saying that it would be most times longer than a week and I believe once in my season it was once than a week." (I don't know about you, but that didn't answer her question.)
Wow!!! So many comments here are ridiculously rude. One comment saying that you want to punch her in her face, really? You are going to get that upset over a person you don't really know? By the way, the very first priority for TBL is to make MONEY, so getting people "healthy" is not the number one goal. If anyone has any kind of experience with weight loss they would know that the numbers they have on the show are unrealistic for safe or healthy weight loss. I think it's great she spoke up. :)
@mytwilight25 I know!! That's exactly what I was thinking. How rude people can be. But don't believe all what you read. That person that said wants to punch the poor woman on her face is another coward who hides behind a computer because morons like that can no do crap in real life. Anyways, she is NOT ungrateful at all, and she even said that. All what she wanted to do is tell the TRUTH! What's so wrong about that? All what you said is truth, it's all about money.
"she'd always special order things coffee with splenda and no cream, or ask for no cheese, it's not what normal people do, it's not healthy". Really? So stuffing your self with cream, sugar and cheese is a healthy thing to do? Morons.
If this programme was made in some other country where obesity isn't an epidemic, her allegations could be overlooked. However this show is broadcast in a country whose majority of population is obese. BBC did a weight loss documentary called ''The Diet Trials'' many years ago in a very responsible manner. A TV show can be both entertaining and educational with minimal effort.
@bnmanas For your information The Biggest Loser is filmed all over the world including the UK, Australia, Asia and the Middle East among others. Obesity is not only an epidemic in the US. 99% of contestants are grateful and thankful for the opportunity and for the skills and lessons in health, diet and fitness that they gained. I personally know a contestant who was on the Biggest Loser who lost 100 lbs. They order their and cook their own food on the show.
@MusicGirl1980 I know the show is not exclusive to U.S. and I've seen the Australian and British versions as well. I was only refering to the U.S. because this was a contestant from the American version . All I'm saying is American version should try to help with obesity problem rather than capitalizing on it and it doesn't help when they focus on the ''show business'' part of the show too much.
@bnmanas It was always "show-business as usual." Anyone who thinks, "this is fitness, folks. It is what it is." Is unfortunately, not seeing the world beyond the television, or beyond a commercial (for maximum profit) gym. This show's priority is to be a bigger spectacle than anything on tv.
Jillian, Bob, Cara, and Brett are fantastic people all around. They are amazing at what they do and have a soft kind heart that nobody really sees because they are focusing on them always yelling. She had problems prior to the show and is looking for someone to blame other than her own self...so wrong...so pathetic.
Ive lost 70 lbs im 19 and sometimes you gotta push yourself harder then ever and that requires harsh conditions, so of course deal with it SH*T HAPPENS.
It's called pressure. Of course she wanted to succeed. And it was a herd pack kind of acceptance. Good for her to speak up. I am so surprised at the comments you guys are saying. Very harsh. If you were in her shoes..guess you would be so 'grateful'.
Hey everybody go to my site and leave some good comments about my Audition videos for this upcoming season of The Biggest Loser. I will warn you ahead of time, it is a funny, embarrassing, and sad video. I just want the chance to save my life, and Im hoping with your alls help, that they will pick me for the show. Thanks everyone, be blessed!!!! :)
Duh, she shouldnt have been on the show if she didnt expect things to change and to be always concious about what she eats and does. Thats how you stay healthy! Biggest Loser has saved so many lives. If Kai wasnt happy with her experience she should have let me have it. I would love to be on the show, even if what she said IS true. I love what the show does for us all, its helping save the obese people in the world. Thanks Biggest Loser!!!
She has bigger problems than just an eating disorder if she is publicly blaming her problems on people who can't get inside her head and fix things there.
This woman really makes me sick.. anyone who doesnt realize that this is TV.. and tv fudges everything.. it doesnt suprise me that a week isnt a week.. or that they try and get u to have the lowest numbers as possible.. she could have walked away, but of course she didnt cause she wanted to lose weight.. congrats.. u did.. and the show did that for u!
In seeing this video,my wife does know PERSONALLY,and she really so does,as Kai is really from North Carolina and I do know of her sister as well. We did watch the third season with Kai and on some had a few good laughs. She is really a smart woman! I do think that you are picking on her for all the wrong reasons. As of now,she does run a health spa in Alaska! She is a good person! A truly good person!
reading the comments n makes me laugh. She said the truth. the show is about numbers and most ppl here are so ignorant they cant see what was her point. She signed up to lose weight not to push limits like water weight loss, unhealthy caloric deficits and basically entering starvation mode to get the numbers so the show can go own...n ppl calling her a whore caz she didnt sign up to be a crash dummy? Well fuck you n get ur fat ass up of that fucking couch n go n work out.
you can't lose that much weight or work out that much if you don't eat properly; your body goes into starvation mode and hangs on to the fat that it has and if you haven't eaten enough before a grueling workout, you will pass out; this is why the trainers stress the importance of eating enough calories; on one episode, Jillian got mad at a contestant for not eating enough (which resulted in a lower weight loss for the week) - just sayin'; her ability to handle stress is her own deal
@cheetocairo you pass out if you starve yourselve? really?:how bout anorexic ppl?:D:D:D second...you go into starvation mode and ur body gives you a signal u need to eat. if you suppress it ur body start cutting lean tissue but also fat hence you lose more in short term. and the last thing yes you can lose weight she mentioned water weight lose..have u ever heard of that expression....ur body is cca 70% (diff no diff research) si if you drop 20% n dehydrate u do the math n see how much u lose
Judging from most of these comments, it seems her message went way over people's heads. She's already gotten over the fact that she was mentally fucked up by her participation in the show. That's over and done with. What she wants to let others know is that the show is misleading - that for a show that supposedly makes people "healthier" by losing weight, they employ not-so-healthy methods to boost ratings. Yes, she lost weight, but she wasn't necessarily any "healthier".
this is beyond crap... you are an adult, take responsibility for your own actions... if you want to drink coffee or cheese... eat them!!! then you burn all those calories at the gym if you want to, stop blaming the people who actually helped you... the biggest loser is an awesome "jump start" for people who cannot control their lives and who are really overweight, not just twenty pounds overweight. for people in their 400 pounds... you have to be tough and extremist, until they get it...
@larrecun This show was built for that mentality. Beat the fat people up. I'm sure if you ran the show it would be about physical beatings, because we all know if you hit a piece of meat hard enough it will break off.
@Polarcupcheck Huh? So I guess all the personal trainers at all the gyms around the world are secretly hired there for the purpose of "beating the fat people". Yeah, makes sense, for some dumb reason I thought they were trying to help "the fat people" to become fit and healthy.
@MusicGirl1980 First of all, these people are Hollywood/tv trainers. Their job is to push product, move merchandise. Healthy, reasonable, and sound fitness advice is not top priority. Bob or Jillian will never coach elite athletes for a competition. Just car salesmen of fitness.
No she is saying that the show is BS that their methods to losing weight in unhealthy and that they felt forced to do things the word way! I am a huge fan of the show and these are all scary allegations, the dehydration is crazy ! Please people listen or read her interviews before you comment.
What a money grubber. Newsflash, any woman can get an eating disorder from being around skinny things like MAGAZINES, TV, MOVIES, FASHION SHOWS, or The Biggest Loser tv show filming. She's no different from anyone else, quit blaming the show. They taught her to eat healthily at the show, she blew it with her weak psyche and developed an eating disorder. She became obsessed with weight loss, just like bulimics and anyone else. Not NBC's fault.
This woman is simply stating the truth but some dumb comments have been made that she wants to be famous, i watch that show and cringe its abuse of fatties and nothing else the regimen is imposible to keep up anyone who cant see that is a demented idiot.
I wanna punch her in the face, ungrateful bitch, go get fat again since you like it so much, all the help she got and all she can do is complain, UGHH I HATE PPL LIKE HER!!! Why is it the shows fault that coffee became her meal
She kind of confessed that she is a "fame whore" near the end of the video! She should have stayed home and kept of wonderful fat instead of joining the show.
Takes alot to get me emotional, but my eyes are sorta tearing up. Please read my post at fatforum. copy and paste!!! tried posting link, but please message me for link
SHE'S EXACTLY RIGHT!!! The show is beyond fake! Just like those trainers! It doesnt show the entire truth and you dont have 300+lbs people perform plyometrics! Its wrong!
I am admiring her willingness to speak up!!!!! TV channels are known to boost ratings by any means possible, and I believe they could have neglected the health of the contestants in order to make good TV and pressured them to the point of some of them losing health. I know what she means by having the courage to tell the truth and she and her husband sound honest and genuine. Good job!!
She starts by saying she is grateful and then she says she had a horrible experience, I mean come on!!!!!!!!!!! if it was not for the show she would have never changed her life style. she needs to take responsibility for her choices and that's not the show. that is not going to stop from watching the show..
The people who go up and ask her how she lost 12 pounds in 1 week are idiots. They're the people who will hop on fad diets wondering why they're results suck. Also, like others have said, if you were grateful, you wouldn't be bad mouthing it.
Losing weight is incredibly simple. Don't look for short cuts, they don't work. Your diet doesn't even have to be perfect, it just can't be complete shit. Exercise a little and presto! Lower fat percentage.
She sounds very well coached to say these things. I believe that they'd manipulate the numbers for ratings, but I could care less if she lost 12 pounds in a week or 2 weeks. I also know that the Biggest Loser puts a disclaimer at the end of every show that says that everyone should consult their doctor before trying to lose weight like this. This is classic blame shifting and trying to extend her 15 minutes.
I would like to see a show that teaches people how to exercise and eat healthy, but nobody gets "voted" off the show. Also, there would be no prize money, the Grand Prize would be YOUR HEALTH! Trust me, it would work, we've done it at our gym. As a Certified Trainer, I'm appalled at trainers that would sit or stand on the backs of their clients while they do push-ups. That's dangerous!
I really don't understand her claims. The Biggest Loser saved her life, and now she is blaming the same show with allegations. They are suppose to lose weight, and it is her fault considering coffee a meal. The show did not teach her that. The show is about learning about counting calories, and a lot of weight. The Biggest Loser is a show for people like her. What did she expect going there, Bob and Jillian were not going to give them a hug every time they are tired or something!!
What is more harmful to people is so-called fitness magazines with exercises and barbie weights that will never do anything for anyone. At least this show conveys that losing weight is hard work and will take some time, even if it's not entirely realistic.
This lady is unreal. They teach you in biggest loser that coffee is not a meal. They teach you to eat right. Because she took it too far she is blaming the show? Give me a break. You are not greatful if you are bad mouthing something, plan and simple. Also when your extremely fat, changing your diet a little can drastically change your weight healthy by dropping thousands of calories by eating right and then working out. She just couldn't handle the pressure, not BL fault.
6 contestants that we know of that have had bad experiences Vs the 100 + that have benefited greatly from the show. Shouldn't judge the show based on the bad experience of a minority.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of bad things about the shows portrayal of health and fitness, but there’s a lot of good and inspiring moments too. I think the good stuff outweighs the bad.
I wonder if a lot of people that's coming against this woman knows that just because someone is overweight, it doesn't mean they have an eating disorder. Some medication can make a person gain weight. Some health problems can cause a person to gain weight. I can see how a person can leave BL and have an eating disorder. Think about it people! Why do they have to exercise 6 to 8 hours a day? Why do they have to get a colonic and learn how to dehydrate themselves? That's dangerous to the mind!
@Archieve00 BL is showing that skinny is beautiful and that's not turn. Eating disorder is real and bad teaching can trigger eating disorder. I'm not saying that Bob and Jillian aren't good trainers, but I know that they have to know the method that they are doing on the show is dangerous. The woman had picked up bad habits from the show. Drinking coffee for a meal is dangerous. These contestants are being watched. Should they worry about enjoying a piece of pie?
GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! I have so many friends who are doctors and are applauded at this technique that threatens lives and health over the long run. I was an anorexic in my youth. I can tell you, this method, having done it, damages your body...something I have now had to live with for over 30 years..Thin is not really or always healthy. the trainers on it, my believe it, but they too look very unhealthy...
How ungrateful is this woman! She went on there fat and came out of it alot smaller. She could have left at any time, maybe she has not had enough attention!
The people on the BL have for whatever reason not been able to lose the weight on their own. And maybe they have received to much hand holding. For their own good somebody needs to be harsh to the point of being cruel to snap them out of it . You are huge! Fat! Obese! And if you don't change your going to die. Now no doubt the show is entertainment, but it gives viewers and contestants a chance to save their lives. Eric Chopin was given that chance and he wasted it. He got his health back...

Kai went on to suggest that a week wasn't always a week, like it was some deception. In her own statement it was sometimes a day more or less. Big deal! That was probably due to production deadlines. Its not like they had them working out for 6 weeks and claimed it was 1 week. Her attempt to make that sound like a cheat was real weak! And if she has such high moral standards why didn't she object then?
The Biggest Loser is entertainment and they are honest about it. Kai isn't!
I remember watching Kai on the show and she had attitude. The reporter let her off easy. She should have asked: Didn't they teach you about calories in calories out? (they do), Didn't they put you through exhausting workouts everyday? (They did), Did they not teach you about how diet & exercise go hand in hand? (They did). And yes as people reach their goal weight it becomes about the money at that point, then they try all the tricks to win. Thats their problem not the shows.
Biggest Loser isn't responsible for what the contestants do for the time they lose weight at home. The diets are tailored at the ranch for their specific nutrition needs. When they go home, they are supposed to take what they learn and apply it to life at home. I don't think Kai is a fame whore, but I don't think she was mentally prepared to be on the Biggest Loser.
Awwwww, poor baby. She went on a show where the competition is to lose the most weight. And I'm guessing the producers of the show didn't teach her how to dehydrate, she did thatherself.
The biggest loser SUCKS! For one, losing weight IS NOT A GAME! it's your LIFE! And second, losing 50 pounds in a month IS NOT! healthy ask any doctor. The biggest loser is flat out dangerous and risky. And lastly, these people are going to gain there weight back simply because there not going to work out like maniacs for the rest of there lives like this. There just not. It's as simple as that.
If she hated the place that much, and she felt sooooooooo bad, why diden't she ask her team mates to send her home? Maybe she's a money hungry prick as well .....
@suzanhdk -- You do not understand self-hate very well. Quit judging her. I think she is courageous and terrific. Dares to be real instead of following the myth...
@gillyssquashball If she hated the place that much, and she felt sooooooooo bad, why diden't she ask her team mates to send her home? Maybe she's a money hungry prick as well ..
I followed the BL strict calorie diet and lost about four pounds a week.
If I'd worked out hard an hour a day, I probably would have only lost about five pounds a week. But, of course, I'd gain more muscle and fitness...which has lasting benefits.
The point is, diet is KEY is losing weight.
Exercise is KEY in getting healthy and looking good.
I recommend the "paleolithic" or "caveman" diet to anyone who wishes to steadily lose weight in a healthy manner. It is a (permanent) diet based on eating what we were designed to eat. Google search and learn; it lets you eat normal sized meals and lose fat steadily without going crazy at the gym and/or going hungry.
Good on you,Kai. When contestants aren't happy to see a twelve pound loss weekly, you know they will be in a heap o'trouble the moment they get off the ranch.
The expectations are now not only ridiculous but harmful for the contestants and viewers as well.
You need to adjust to a certain meal plan to lose all that fat you had. You lost it by doing that. Now you can continue to eat 'normal' and have 'a healthy meal'. There is nothing wrong with what the show did. Its something to help you lose in a quick form. You shouldve walked out once you realized your hair was falling out. lol

she sounds like a liar! lol!!!! She tried to do what she could to win, didn't win and is trying to make the money now. Her eating disorder is caused by her own lack of commitment to lose weight properly
Basically she's blaming them for being unable to cope with stress. All her complaints are related to her being unable to cope with stress. They didn't force that on her. If anything the trainers stressed the importance of EATING to lose weight. it's her fault for not listening and being upset with her body image.
@hondafaith I prefer the term "publicity hound" but I think you have the right idea. She got one thing out of the show: she likes to see her face and hear her voice on television.
I suppose she was happier when she weighed two tons, eh?
I've been following P90X for 8 months and I'm down to 205 from 255 and my goal is around 190 to 195 at 6'2". I'm telling you gradual weight loss is the way to go, you'll keep it off. Also, don't obsess about food, allow yourself to eat what you want a couple of times a week and not beat yourself up over it. I enjoy fried chicken, beer and ice cream from time to time which allows me to maintain my regimen without going crazy.
@LilBromide Maybe there are lawsuits and you just don;t hear about them. After all, this stupid ass show is all about ratings and nothing else. I hate this show.
The show was always going to encourage poor lifestyle and nutritional habits as it's success is determined by a scale. Weight loss is for jockeys, regular people should aim to feel, perform and look their best.
@Froggermcfrog Only if you have less than, say 50 pounds to lose.
If you are morbidly obese, like the contestansts on Biggest Loser, it's perfectly fine. Just think about it.
Say you're 150lbs. If you lose 1 or 2 pounds a week, that's 0.67% - 1.3%
Now, if you were 350lbs, that 0.67-1.3% would translate to about 2.3-4.5lbs a week. But if you're that obese, you probably can lose more than that in a week and still be perfectly fine.
I never like Kai or her attitude on the show. She seemed to have deeper issues then! I am not sure that the methods of the show are wrong but the mental state of the contestants needs to be just as thoroughly checked as their physical health! Get this BS out of here
oh please..you had to know what you were getting into..ITS A TV SHOW!!!! if you feel so badly give back your check. im sure you tried many weight loss methods. you lost weight. be happy about it and move on. nobody with half a brain realizes that this isnt somewhat staged for tv. im a trainer as well and i know that this isnt realistic for anyone but if it encourages people to get their fat asses of the couch i say great. America is FAT and that has to change.
Also (these comments need to be longer) I had a lot of respect for Bob and Jillian. I actually became interested in exercise science and helping people change their lives because of this show. Now, like I said, I don't know what to think.
@runswimchick10 Also, take the show for what it is (the only positive aspect I can see) MOTIVATION. Regardless of what goes on the behind the scenes the one thing that cannot be argued is that people are taking off the weight which will always be a good thing. Once sedentary, they are now pushed to be very active. Use this as encouragement and motivation for your personal life, and filter out/ignore the propaganda and rating tactics. Dont let it damper your spirits!
I completely think this is justified. It's fairly obvious that the show does nothing for *emotional* health for these people by just the name of the show alone. The weight loss is unrealistic in any PRACTICAL measure, I'm sure there WAS a lot of pressure to lose more it's the point of the show and constant pressure with no foundation of emotional health is setting someone up for failure, period. No, the show didn't MAKE her do anything - but it could damn sure pull a good guilt trip, I'm sure.
I think Kai's allegations are justified. The Biggest Loser is a reality show, not a weight loss program. No one can lose that much weight in a week. I exercise 6 days a week, eat right, and haven't dropped a pound in two weeks. The show is rather an insult to people who work hard to lose weight. Any fitness trainer worth their salt can tell you that the show is unrealistic. She has my support.
She is 100% supported and applauded by me. I stopped watching that show approx a yr after it's 1st season debut after I realized the propaganda behind it. I'm not going to say that the trainers don't care about the health of the contestants; their pushing and motivation does seem to come from a real place (Jillian especially who has been overweight before). But anyone with 2 brain cells has to accept that some unethical things are being done behind the scenes for that extreme loss every episode.
Also, lets be rational; it's a complete insult to those people out there everyday that are busting their balls trying to get healthy that have the same amount of lbs to loose. You don't think they watch this show for motivation? How would you feel watching your favourite season participant dropping 12lbs a week and yet you only dropped 3lbs; yet you're doing everything THEY show you on CAMERA? People will kill themselves striving for those TV numbers not knowing the behind the scenes tricks.
@shadowlita I had a fitness trainer and exercised extrememly rigorously for 2 hours everyday. I completely changed my diet and noticed a boost in self esteem that I have never had before. I lost 3 POUNDS a week okey. NOT 12 and I felt just as good as if I lost it all. Sometimes it is not the weight loss that counts but the mental change. Before I started exercising I was extrememly overweight and felt horrible. I went from 316lbs to 240lbs over the course of a year and feel better than ever :)
@foamythe Congrats on your loss! I'm also on a fitness regime since mid March averaging about 2-4lbs per week, which is NORMAL/AVERAGE. But you missed my point as my comments were generalized yet personal as well. Not everyone out there has that positive mind frame you & I have when trying to get fit. This is why this news hit home for me & why I say it's insulting to others who are following the show- some can get depressed not loosing those big numbers weekly. Unhealthy & misleading!
@foamythe And my comments also stem from the whole point of why this woman came out with this truth in the 1st place. Here is a quote from the written interview: "I have people that come up to me and talk to me and ask me why they can't lose 12 pound in a week when I did. When I didn't. It didn't happen. It's TV," she said. "I helped perpetuate a myth that's dangerous."
This is what I'm saying. Some folks out there are deceived; expecting to see those same lbs results & think they are failing!
@shadowlita I didn't know that Jillian was overweight before! Can you tell us more about that? Here are my two bits while I'm commenting: I support Kai's claims. I feel that she delivered them in a very honest way, and therefore I trust her. What I am feeling right now is frustration with the media in general. I am young (only 18) and I started watching the show years ago, so I was definitely naieve when this became one of my favorite shows. I was so inspired, but now I'm questioning it.
@runswimchick10 Yes, Jillian has been very candid with the public about her past weight struggles. Here is a link to just 1 of the most recent articles about it posted on June 17, 2010: popeater.com/2010/06/17/jillian-michaels-redbook/
As for Kai, I don't know her as I stopped watching the show before her season; but she needs all the support she can get right now as she no doubt expects and will be the recipient of nasty rebuttals.
eh she is all dramatic.. weight loss like this is about big changes.. and I doubt it is what she's trying to make it out to be. Dehydration... ha yeah right..
sabkaa 3 hours ago
I was annoyed with her through the show ... she is a very angry woman who seemed to want drama all the time. I think this is just another way for her to get more fame and that she is actually a failure.

Dilelomismo 4 months ago 2
It's Kai's fault. Not the show. All of the contestants that enter the show have to leave eventually. She obviously couldn't control herself and her weight outside the show. That's why she gained a lot of weight. There are some contestants for example Ali Vincent who has kept the weight off after the show. Kai obviously doesn't know how to control herself. Also if you're training at a very high intensity then you're bound to pull massive weight losses.
dannygriffiths05 4 months ago

XoXoKarinaKGXoXo 8 months ago 6
She talked about the pressure she was on and that she left with an eating disorder because of the pressure on her. SHe didn't say: They made me do this" she said "I take full responsability" Understand the message before judging or making stupid comments people!!!
XoXoKarinaKGXoXo 8 months ago 2

mytwilight25 8 months ago 8
@mytwilight25 I know!! That's exactly what I was thinking. How rude people can be. But don't believe all what you read. That's why I don't watch "Biggest Loser" anymore, it's unrealistic.
SilvermanGirl81 9 months ago
If this programme was made in some other country where obesity isn't an epidemic, her allegations could be overlooked. However this show is broadcast in a country whose majority of population is obese. BBC did a weight loss documentary called ''The Diet Trials'' many years ago in a very responsible manner. A TV show can be both entertaining and educational with minimal effort.
bnmanas 9 months ago
@bnmanas For your information The Biggest Loser is filmed all over the world including the UK, Australia, Asia and the Middle East among others. Obesity is not only an epidemic in the US. 99% of contestants are grateful and thankful for the opportunity and for the skills and lessons in health, diet and fitness that they gained. I personally know a contestant who was on the Biggest Loser who lost 100 lbs. They order their and cook their own food on the show.
MusicGirl1980 9 months ago 2
@MusicGirl1980 I know the show is not exclusive to U.S. and I've seen the Australian and British versions as well. I was only refering to the U.S. because this was a contestant from the American version . All I'm saying is American version should try to help with obesity problem rather than capitalizing on it and it doesn't help when they focus on the ''show business'' part of the show too much.
bnmanas 9 months ago
@bnmanas It was always "show-business as usual." Anyone who thinks, "this is fitness, folks. It is what it is." Is unfortunately, not seeing the world beyond the television, or beyond a commercial (for maximum profit) gym. This show's priority is to be a bigger spectacle than anything on tv.

Jillian, Bob, Cara, and Brett are fantastic people all around. They are amazing at what they do and have a soft kind heart that nobody really sees because they are focusing on them always yelling. reading the comments n makes me laugh.
AKcib 10 months ago 2
you can't lose that much weight or work out that much if you don't eat properly; your body goes into starvation mode and hangs on to the fat that it has and if you haven't eaten enough before a grueling workout, you will pass out; this is why the trainers stress the importance of eating enough calories; on one episode, Jillian got mad at a contestant for not eating enough (which resulted in a lower weight loss for the week) - just sayin'; her ability to handle stress is her own deal
cheetocairo 10 months ago
@cheetocairo you pass out if you starve yourselve? really?:how bout anorexic ppl?:D:D:D second...you go into starvation mode and ur body gives you a signal u need to eat. if you suppress it ur body start cutting lean tissue but also fat hence you lose more in short term. and the last thing yes you can lose weight she mentioned water weight lose..have u ever heard of that expression....ur body is cca 70% (diff no diff research) si if you drop 20% n dehydrate u do the math n see how much u lose

TheSinisterKitty 11 months ago
Judging from most of these comments, it seems her message went way over people's heads. She's already gotten over the fact that she was mentally fucked up by her participation in the show. That's over and done with. What she wants to let others know is that the show is misleading - that for a show that supposedly makes people "healthier" by losing weight, they employ not-so-healthy methods to boost ratings. Yes, she lost weight, but she wasn't necessarily any "healthier".

this is beyond crap... you are an adult, take responsibility for your own actions... if you want to drink coffee or cheese... eat them!!! then you burn all those calories at the gym if you want to, stop blaming the people who actually helped you... the biggest loser is an awesome "jump start" for people who cannot control their lives and who are really overweight, not just twenty pounds overweight. for people in their 400 pounds... you have to be tough and extremist, until they get it...
larrecun 11 months ago
@larrecun This show was built for that mentality. Beat the fat people up. I'm sure if you ran the show it would be about physical beatings, because we all know if you hit a piece of meat hard enough it will break off.
Polarcupcheck 10 months ago
@Polarcupcheck Huh? So I guess all the personal trainers at all the gyms around the world are secretly hired there for the purpose of "beating the fat people". Yeah, makes sense, for some dumb reason I thought they were trying to help "the fat people" to become fit and healthy.
MusicGirl1980 9 months ago
@MusicGirl1980 First of all, these people are Hollywood/tv trainers. Their job is to push product, move merchandise. Healthy, reasonable, and sound fitness advice is not top priority. Bob or Jillian will never coach elite athletes for a competition. Just car salesmen of fitness.

Dmanu22 1 year ago

What did she expect going there, Bob and Jillian were not going to give them a hug every time they are tired or something!!
ksbballgirl 1 year ago
What is more harmful to people is so-called fitness magazines with exercises and barbie weights that will never do anything for anyone. At least this show conveys that losing weight is hard work and will take some time, even if it's not entirely realistic.
Namirsolo 1 year ago
This lady is unreal. They teach you in biggest loser that coffee is not a meal. They teach you to eat right. Because she took it too far she is blaming the show? Give me a break. You are not greatful if you are bad mouthing something, plan and simple. Also when your extremely fat, changing your diet a little can drastically change your weight healthy by dropping thousands of calories by eating right and then working out. She just couldn't handle the pressure, not BL fault.
grfboro81 1 year ago
6 contestants that we know of that have had bad experiences Vs the 100 + that have benefited greatly from the show. Shouldn't judge the show based on the bad experience of a minority.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of bad things about the shows portrayal of health and fitness, but there’s a lot of good and inspiring moments too. I think the good stuff outweighs the bad.
eon001 1 year ago 3
I wonder if a lot of people that's coming against this woman knows that just because someone is overweight, it doesn't mean they have an eating disorder. Some medication can make a person gain weight. Some health problems can cause a person to gain weight. I can see how a person can leave BL and have an eating disorder. Think about it people! Why do they have to exercise 6 to 8 hours a day? Why do they have to get a colonic and learn how to dehydrate themselves? That's dangerous to the mind!
Archieve00 1 year ago
@Archieve00 BL is showing that skinny is beautiful and that's not turn. Eating disorder is real and bad teaching can trigger eating disorder. I'm not saying that Bob and Jillian aren't good trainers, but I know that they have to know the method that they are doing on the show is dangerous. The woman had picked up bad habits from the show. Drinking coffee for a meal is dangerous. These contestants are being watched. Should they worry about enjoying a piece of pie?

Kai isn't!
Enough said!
Canadianalways 1 year ago 5

Oh Kai, you arrived on the show a c*nt, and all you left behind was about 80 pounds.

Attention seeker! I am pretty sure she could not say these things against BL if she was still morbidly obese. Ungrateful bitch!
bongmanding 1 year ago
You need to adjust to a certain meal plan to lose all that fat you had. You lost it by doing that. Now you can continue to eat 'normal' and have 'a healthy meal'. There is nothing wrong with what the show did. Its something to help you lose in a quick form. You shouldve walked out once you realized your hair was falling out. lol

she sounds like a liar! lol!!!! She tried to do what she could to win, didn't win and is trying to make the money now. Her eating disorder is caused by her own lack of commitment to lose weight properly
Ron1nstar 1 year ago 2

I can't feel sorry for her.
She left the show with an eating disorder?
Pshhh, the whole reaon she went on the show was BECAUSE she had an eating disorder &couldn't stop shoveling food into her mouth.
Yeah, some contestants walk away from the experience like Kai did with negative feelings. But the majority have a positive experience.
If they didn't enjoy it, then the show would have lawsuits up the ass.

@LilBromide Stopped reading at "shoveling food into her mouth." Go take a look at how it actually works.

@LilBromide Maybe there are lawsuits and you just don;t hear about them. After all, this stupid ass show is all about ratings and nothing else. I hate this show.

This type of extreme dieting is not healthy. Supreme health and weight loss starts by detoxing the body.

The show was always going to encourage poor lifestyle and nutritional habits as it's success is determined by a scale. Weight loss is for jockeys, regular people should aim to feel, perform and look their best.

Losing more than 1 or 2 lbs a week is extremely unhealthy.
Froggermcfrog 1 year ago

Get this BS out of here

losers always come up with allegations just to be on TV again.
iamwingirds 1 year ago
oh please..you had to know what you were getting into..ITS A TV SHOW!!!! if you feel so badly give back your check. im sure you tried many weight loss methods. you lost weight. be happy about it and move on. nobody with half a brain realizes that this isnt somewhat staged for tv. im a trainer as well and i know that this isnt realistic for anyone but if it encourages people to get their fat asses of the couch i say great. America is FAT and that has to change.

Also (these comments need to be longer) I had a lot of respect for Bob and Jillian. I actually became interested in exercise science and helping people change their lives because of this show. Now, like I said, I don't know what to think.

@runswimchick10 Please don't let this disillusion you. Become a certified fitness trainer and help people in the right way to fitness.
acehighpat 1 year ago

She has my support.
acehighpat 1 year ago
She's my hero!
sagefunhog 1 year ago
She is 100% supported and applauded by me. I stopped watching that show approx a yr after it's 1st season debut after I realized the propaganda behind it. I'm not going to say that the trainers don't care about the health of the contestants; their pushing and motivation does seem to come from a real place (Jillian especially who has been overweight before). But anyone with 2 brain cells has to accept that some unethical things are being done behind the scenes for that extreme loss every episode.
shadowlita 1 year ago

I went from 316lbs to 240lbs over the course of a year and feel better than ever :)
foamythe 1 year ago
@foamythe Congrats on your loss! I'm also on a fitness regime since mid March averaging about 2-4lbs per week, which is NORMAL/AVERAGE. But you missed my point as my comments were generalized yet personal as well. Not everyone out there has that positive mind frame you & I have when trying to get fit. This is why this news hit home for me & why I say it's insulting to others who are following the show- some can get depressed not loosing those big numbers weekly. Unhealthy & misleading!
shadowlita 1 year ago
@foamythe And my comments also stem from the whole point of why this woman came out with this truth in the 1st place. Here is a quote from the written interview: "I have people that come up to me and talk to me and ask me why they can't lose 12 pound in a week when I did. When I didn't. It didn't happen. It's TV," she said. "I helped perpetuate a myth that's dangerous."
This is what I'm saying. Some folks out there are deceived; expecting to see those same lbs results & think they are failing!
shadowlita 1 year ago
@shadowlita I didn't know that Jillian was overweight before! Can you tell us more about that? Here are my two bits while I'm commenting: I support Kai's claims. I feel that she delivered them in a very honest way, and therefore I trust her. What I am feeling right now is frustration with the media in general. I am young (only 18) and I started watching the show years ago, so I was definitely naieve when this became one of my favorite shows. I was so inspired, but now I'm questioning it.
runswimchick10 1 year ago
@runswimchick10 Yes, Jillian has been very candid with the public about her past weight struggles. Here is a link to just 1 of the most recent articles about it posted on June 17, 2010: popeater.com/2010/06/17/jillian-michaels-redbook/
As for Kai, I don't know her as I stopped watching the show before her season; but she needs all the support she can get right now as she no doubt expects and will be the recipient of nasty rebuttals.

So, she is a former contestant who clearly had(has) mental issues. Why come out now?
