  • Shame there aren't any Clive Norling clips on YouTube

  • Football much more skill than egg-chassing! :)

  • Probably not the introduction he was waiting for. lol

  • It's football!!!!!!!!!

  • I think referees in football ('soccer' for Americans) often say "this is not rugby" too.

  • @YellowOnline thanks! We don't like with football! :)

  • “Football is a game you play with your brain.” Johan Cruyff

"Football is simple. But the hardest thing is to play football in a simple way." Johan Cruyff

"Little by little you have to teach the United States that this is the best game in the world." Johan Cruyff

  • Good call ref well played!

  • i can understand why he called if soccer in other parts of the world like new zealand for example want a quick game of footy can reference rugby

  • @Liquid Yogi: I've played AND coached both rugby and football. That enough "understanding" and "experience" for you?

  • @kenosull You obviously haven't or you wouldn't be calling this ref a tosser. It was a bloody good bit of refereeing to shut a mouthy player up. How exactly is he a "wanabee"?

  • Tosser. But then most referees in any sport are tossers. Little Hitlers with whistles, most of them, . There ARE exceptions. Nobody ever gave Perluigi Collina any grief. Since some genius decided to try and make rugby interesting by miking up the refs, they've all developed wannabe status.

And by the way, it's FOOTBALL not "soccer".

  • @kenosull Wow you sound like someone who doesn't understand anything about the game or what it's like to manage it. It's best when you don't know anything to just shut up and let other more experienced people handle it.

  • "If I hear you shoulting for anything again, I".... - anyone know what he said after that?

  • @hotd0gheaven Stick to your job and I'll do mine. If I hear you shouting for anything again, I am going to be penalising you. This is not soccer, is that clear?

  • @K20491 thanks...

  • People who argue on videos like this are clearly virgins.

  • soccer is for pu..i.s

  • What a boss ref??

  • champion fuckin ref.

all sports need refs like this

  • Like a boss

  • I think the point Nigel Owens was making there is that whether you call it soccer or football its still fuckin shit.

  • people who call rugby, football are just TARDS

  • What a bitch

  • Soccer Refs, WAKE UP!!! You see, this is how it should be in your game also, but FIFA is a bunch of corrupt millionairs, so will not help you. Remember: "The only real justice is the justice you take"

  • the context is totally appropriate in their culture, hes not saying it in terms or theyre not playing soccer. geeze. o__O

  • Nigel Owens is a legend! You tell em Nige! Will never allow our beautiful game to stoop to the low levels of football (soccer) :D

  • Soccer - it is such a crap example to our youth. Children mimic behaviour: spitting, answering back, feigning injury, swearing...

The fact that soccer (and I will call it that) does not involve (goal line) technology highlights its arrogance to be above the law and public opinion, unlike, cricket, tennis, rugby etc...

The FA tried to introduce the rugby rule of 10m back if players argued. No one had the balls to pursue this and the FA went missing in A. It's a FARCE. Beautiful game my arse.

  • @Wook5ter The F.A NEVER introduced the 10 yard rule.

  • Comment removed

  • @DCTheGuitarist They trialled it and discontinued it because of the lack of balls from the refs to enforce the rule. Why? Because the uncouth crowds bay for the referee's blood which affects the players making them more aggressive. Subsequently the FA got cold feet because as usual they didn't have the guts to assert themselves and follow through.

  • @DCTheGuitarist It was never trailed, stop talking you sound like an idiot.

  • @DCTheGuitarist Child please, all you need to do is google "10 yard rule football" to find out how wrong you are

  • WTF is soccer?

  • @ruservo: is a gentleman's game played by hooligans. Ze beautiful game. Any more explanations? ;)

  • @ddtblog1

    No.. Thats football!

  • @ruservo football, but soccer is its original name

  • @rmccaw7 its original is football, it was invented in england not america.

  • If refs in football had either the courage or the brains, football wouldn't like how it is. I hate rugby, but lessons could be learned here!

  • @madblaa why you hate rugby ?

  • You could argue that it is Rugby FOOTBALL and therefore to say Soccer is an easier way to distinguish between the two...plus he's Welsh!

  • @quoling welsh, and therefore a fucking hero

  • this is not soccer, this is FOOTBALL, you cunt! Is that clear?!!

  • @AmpouleRectale Shut up

  • @agcarper Piss off, Stella drinker

  • Nigel, you're the BEST!

  • lol at the ref, this shit is too funny.

  • He was a douche about it, but he wasn't a douche about it. Wut?

  • wow. amazing tbf. Howard Webb, take notes.

  • @grumbler1 Why Howard Webb take notes?? Howard Webb is the man and doesn't need to take notes from some rugby referee. 2010 Football World Cup Final Referee = Howard Webb = The best referee :)

  • Come on this is no sport?

  • Great ref.

  • Comment removed

  • wish we could always hear the ref's explanations in every sport

  • @hajones10 that would be sweet

  • BRILLIANT refereeing. I'm a Assc Football player.

  • This is one of the reasons why Rugby is far superior to soccer/football. And I like it ;-)

  • hate when someone say soccer instead of FOOTBALL

  • @ddtblog1 But they should be calling it by it's proper name .... Football not fucking association football lol.

  • @ddtblog1 you don't have to say that... just FOOTBALL.

  • @ddtblog1 How many do you actually play....with your foot? :P

  • @bonopunk77 Why? The word 'soccer' came from your guys' 'association football.'

  • @bonopunk77 If you're irish and you play GAA you're going to call soccer soccer simple as !

  • @gerdym07 Nah. Speak for yourself. Simple as.

  • @bonopunk77 Football = rugby in many countries

  • @maldarkangel Spot on bud.

  • @bonopunk77 Football can mean a lot of different things in different countries. In America you have their American Football, in Ireland there's Gaelic Football and in a lot of countries Rugby itself is actually referred to as football. Welsh referee officiating a game between Irish and Italian teams in an Irish ground, I think he was right to call it soccer :P

  • @toadpenguin Well your a cvnt because it is and always will be football.

  • @DCTheGuitarist Ooh, good point. Very well argued and thought out. I applaud you for your eloquence and debating skills.

    Oh, wait...

  • @toadpenguin

    I wasn't debating anything i was stating a fact

    (1) There is nothing to debate, those games came about because of Association football, Football in its organic context. NO country in the world calls football rugby.

    (2) you ARE a cvnt

  • @DCTheGuitarist This is youtube, you can spell cunt the right way.

  • @bonopunk77 because theyre already playing Rugby FOOTBALL

  • @bonopunk77 soccer isnt football... if he says soccer, he means soccer... u must be american

  • @bonopunk77 Because that's what it is...football applies to many other sports. Soccer is the correct term

  • @bonopunk77 He was in Ireland when he said "soccer" which is fine. Football in Ireland is Gaelic Football, soccer is soccer, same in American where Football is American Football and soccer is soccer :)

  • @bonopunk77 I could say the same about rugby seeing as it's officially called rugby football. He calls it soccer because that's the name of the sport you can either take that or go with Association Football. Football in america, austrailia, ireland etc mean different games so feck off your sport doesn't own the word.

  • Enorme el senyor Nigel Owens!! Al futbol li falta aprendre molt del rugbi!!

The ref is the most important person in the game. Without him, our sport will be no possible to be played....RESPECT!

  • Brilliant....

  • And he even gets to talk to mike Phillips in Welsh, right at the end!

  • @sionnyn no he's speaking english to Conor Murray.

  • Well done Nigel Owens - GAA and soccer refs, players and coaches in particular, please take note. It would make both codes more enjoyable if their refs could (and should) command the same respect and if players and coaches were more honest. Please stop diving and feigning injuries to get opponents sent off. It's cowardly and despicable.

  • A mouthy scrum half, who would have guessed!! Hahaha!

  • Regardless of the differences and whether one game is more entertaining than the other, this referee is an role model for officials in all sports.

  • nigel owens you legend!

  • sehr nice

  • "Questo non è calcio" - mitico Owens, grande arbitro, poche e chiare parole per ricordare l'essenza del Rugby, IL RISPETTO....

  • @joshuahman, you REALLY don't know anything about rugby...lol. Many different positions, many different skills involved. And there isn't a least skillful sport. All sports get advantage from a players size, strength and stamina. And you CAN excel in ANY sport, despite physical disadvantages. Or you'll tell me it's not better for a soccer player to be bigger than their opponents? Just take a look at Adriano, the emperor. ;-)

Whatever the sport: taller is better in tennis. And so on...

  • @joshuahman

All you need is weight in rugby & your an automatic professional is it. In that case why isn't your mother playing. See, it's very easy for me to be critical of someone i don't know. Why are you being critical of a sport which your CLEARLY don't have the balls to attempt. Soccer is pass & go pass and go where as rugby is all about running plays and occasionally hectic plays which sometime may or may not pay off. My point is before you start spouting shit, know your shit.

  • Mekkora duma!!! :D

  • The video can be subtitled in Spanish please'm from Paraguay greetings.

  • Of course rugby is popular... Hooligans lol that's only really happens in the French 14 these days,

it's about time football refs grew some and stopped being pushed around and bullied by players! They should take a look a mr Owens for a true example on how to show players who's in charge!

  • @spitsfreeman You're right the Football rules are there the problem are the reffs , they just don't apply it

  • @kevspacey Around more than a 100 years....., it became so boring that the picked up the ball and started a new game....

  • @pecerdum12345 *they

  • @kevspacey Soccer = number 1...because the world is in confusion.

  • Nigel Owens...what a legend!! A model for all refs to aspire to. The game is lucky to have him!!

  • I am sure I have many time heard a soccer referee say "this is not RUGBY" and it was probably me

  • What a referee. An idol for me being an aspiring referee

  • @The01Toby don't worry, united will look to sign you soon

  • Comment removed

  • @The01Toby no i meant manchester united. Refs are always biased towards them.

  • This is Blasphemy, this is Soccer !

This is not soccer , THIS.... IS .....RUGBY !!

  • yr nawr oes twpsyn

  • What a referee!

  • THIS IS NOT SOCCEEER!

  • gooooooooo Nige!! lol Da iawn ti!

  • YOU GO NIGE!! :D
