Two words. Henry Morgentaler. this man has done partial birth abortions, which are abortions in the 3rd trimester, all of his life. he has no problem with killing a fully developed baby in the womb. he has probably killed babies out of the womb when the abortion fails. i am ashamed to call this human being a canadian. our socialist country has actually given him the order of canada.
Dr. Morgentaler, as far as I'm concerned, is no different then Dr. Tiller was in the US. Although what they do is unpleasant, they only do it if necessary. If the option is between having having both mother and baby die during child birth or allowing the child to die in order to safe the mother, then the lesser of two evils is the right decision to make. To paint these men as murders for making difficult but necessary decisions in order to save lives is not very fair of you.
99% of abortions are because of birth control. when the mothers life is in pearl, which is very rare, then the fetus should be aborted. one life lost is better than two. but we should recognize that life as sort of a "casualty of war" because it helped to save another human being. killing a fetus due to ectopic pregnancy should not be compared to an abortion because it is not the intentional killing of the child, but rather the saving of the mother which leads to an indirect death.
I'd be interested to know where you got that stat from. Late term and partial birth abortions are also very rare and always because of complications such as ectopic pregnancy. Killing a fetus, no matter the reason, is abortion - that's the definition. It's a complex issue and cannot be summed up as 'abortion is always bad' or 'abortion is always good'. It really depends on the situation. Keyes would like us to think that it's outright evil, which is not the case.
also again I believe that is too simple. Killing isn't always murder. and murder isn't always evil. For example to kill in self defense isn't murder, and murdering a person like Hitler wouldn't be evil. The last thing I have to say is who decides when an abortion is necessary? You? the government? I said this before in an earlier post. It's always human. What matters (to me at least) is that it is a sentient being or a human being. A zygote, is human...but it's not a human 'being'. I can't say for sure when the brain and nervous system become developed enough to be considered conscious. That is up for debate. But it could not possibly be at conception when it is only a one cell.

- No you could not kill them. A person cannot be non-conscious, or else they would be brain dead. And unconscious, dementia, senility, brain damaged, are not the same as No consciousness.
Beating heart is not consciousness. Measurable brain activity could be considered consciousness, but it's debatable how much brain activity is required for consciousness. It's still not autonomous.

I find it funny, Verstwo2, that you're glad that you weren't aborted (which is good) but, yet you still defend abortion. Why? The very fact that you're glad you weren't aborted tells me that you know you'd be dead if you had been aborted. Why then, would you condone the taking of life from others? I still have a difficult time believing your claim about abortions performed 3mins before birth. That would mean it was performed well into the labour process. Two words. Henry Morgentaler. this man has done partial birth abortions, which are abortions in the 3rd trimester, all of his life. he has no problem with killing a fully developed baby in the womb. he has probably killed babies out of the womb when the abortion fails. i am ashamed to call this human being a canadian. our socialist country has actually given him the order of canada.

Dr. Morgentaler, as far as I'm concerned, is no different then Dr. Tiller was in the US. Although what they do is unpleasant, they only do it if necessary. If the option is between having having both mother and baby die during child birth or allowing the child to die in order to safe the mother, then the lesser of two evils is the right decision to make. To paint these men as murders for making difficult but necessary decisions in order to save lives is not very fair of you.

99% of abortions are because of birth control. when the mothers life is in pearl, which is very rare, then the fetus should be aborted. one life lost is better than two. but we should recognize that life as sort of a "casualty of war" because it helped to save another human being. killing a fetus due to ectopic pregnancy should not be compared to an abortion because it is not the intentional killing of the child, but rather the saving of the mother which leads to an indirect death.

I'd be interested to know where you got that stat from. Late term and partial birth abortions are also very rare and always because of complications such as ectopic pregnancy. Killing a fetus, no matter the reason, is abortion - that's the definition. It's a complex issue and cannot be summed up as 'abortion is always bad' or 'abortion is always good'. It really depends on the situation. Keyes would like us to think that it's outright evil, which is not the case.

I said this before in an earlier post. It's always human. What matters (to me at least) is that it is a sentient being or a human being. A zygote, is human...but it's not a human 'being'. I can't say for sure when the brain and nervous system become developed enough to be considered conscious. That is up for debate. But it could not possibly be at conception when it is only a one cell.

That's good that you're glad to be alive. So am I. I'm sure you're aware that every human being has 46 chromosomes and the egg and sperm each contain 23. The atoms that make up water are 2 hydrogen & 1 oxygen. You can not have water with out the bonding of those atoms just as you can't have a human being with out the bonding between the egg and sperm. Life begins at conception. Outlawing bodily functions is absurd and chances are irrelevant... Tell that to the ones who have been aborted...

sure I'm aware of that. Are you aware that any different combination of chromosomes will result in a different genetic makeup? Thus resulting in a different individual. every sperm and egg 'wasted' is the destruction of the potential for a specific human being. but of course it is not a 'being', although it is human life (a sperm or egg that is).

A zygote, as you said, has the genetic makeup to become a 'DIFFERENT INDIVIDUAL'. The zygote has INFINITELY more 'potential' to grow a brain, heart, lungs, and have his/her own blood type than that of a sperm and egg by themselves. Your logic is fundamentally flawed and is self contradictory. In the context of conception one cell IS a human being bc it's our genesis.

BTW in case you are unaware of this....we were all sperms at one point too and every sperm is a potential human being as well. It takes a sperm to create a zygote, which then develops into an embryo, fetus, and then an infant.

In the Marines, when you are issued a direct order, you execute that order. You do not ask questions. You do not hesitate. Same with Law enforcement. When they are ordered to arrest, they arrest. That is proper SOP.

Military or not when an unlawful order is given that individual whom issued the unlawful order is supposed to be arrested. Also recall the UCMJ-Uniform Code of Military Justice-I was Honorably Discharged in 1962 and I still remember most of the UCMJ. So it all depends if one will have the guts to refuse to obey an unlawful order or wimp out!

In the event that a US official issued an evil order, he would be court martialed, most likely. If the soldier who was issued the order was CM, then he or she probably wouldn't be in trouble.
Wait, why am I explaining this? It doesn't happen. Nor will it. This isn't A Few Good Men... They were issued a directive: arrest anyone on the private property of Notre Dame.

God bless you Mr Keyes. You are a true witness to CATHOLIC CHRISTIAN faith. When you die you will be able to stand before the Thrice Holy God confidently because you have DEFENDED the little ones - the Heavenly Father's favourties - the ones whose souls send all of Heaven into ecstacy. But we must pray for people like Obama and all who support him in complicity by not publicly opposing him. They will be severely judged - and there are many, many people in that position right now.

I am watching this from Australia and I am weeping with joy. Dr Keyes, you are an incredible man and witness to the CATHOLIC faith. You made an excellent point to these men - they are hiding behind the LIE that it is not about what they believe - and IT IS!!! They have rejected our LORD before men. Watching this video, ANYONE who is a Christian must mourn for the fact we have all been like sheep without a shepherd, because our leaders in the churches do not have the courage of their convictions. We have been deprived of sound teaching and worthy models. Alan Keyes stands against abortion, he stands against the U.S. Imperial War Machine, he stands against torture.
