My mother had or has a tape where newsmagazine USA Today(I guess at one time both a paper and entertainment news show such as A Current Affair or Extra) where on a 1989 episode their public announcement that they've decided to split was televised.
I believe "Different Light" was their second album and their best by far, I have the cassette. 4 great tunes came off it "Manic Monday" "If She Knew What She Wants" "Walking Down Your Street" and "Walk Like An Egyptian" They were a pretty good gamble for I.R.S. These girls formed the Bangles, who intented to name themselves the Bangs until another group with the name threatened a lawsuit unless they changed their stage name, the day after John Lennon's death.(all of them were inspired by him)
And the Bangles were the epitome of clean living(they've said in interviews they were turned off by drugs and smoking in general) and well you all know about the Go-Go's and how hard they lived within their few short years as a band. On a different note though, after B's breakup, leading lady Susannah Hoffs had little chart success while G-G's front lady Belinda Carlisle had a few solo hits, one of them even going to number 1 with 1987's "Heaven Is A Place On Earth."
The thing that set both I.R.S. female groups The Bangles and The Go-Go's was that The Bangles wrote most their music and not only that but but they were influenced by the 60's pop rock culture while The Go'-Go's rode on the wave of the punk movement. The B's had 3 @1 smashes: Prince's "Manic Monday," "Walk Like An Egyptian" and the very 60's styled "Eternal Flame" While Go-Go's had several great hits, none reached the top.,.,
Thankyaaaa Mickiiiiiiiii..... dont let him put his filthy hands on your porcelain face... You are my favorite of the bangles and my favorite bass player girl.
Im grunche, but you are the owner of my tears ... I said it.. god damm. Long live Mickiii You are the fucking BEST FOR EVER...
I encourage you to research this fact yourself. In the STUDIO she DID NOT sing the song. It caused alot of dissention in the band. Of course she sang it in concert-she had to!
When I was a boy a used to heard susana's voice on the radio, and I thought she was singing for me,'cause her voice was so soft. that's midle '80. What a beautifull that was.
susanna hoffs is the natalie wood of music! susanna is the finest woman in the history of music! I love the warm-cool, soft, quivering quality to her vocals. This song should have been a much, much bigger hit than it actually was. Jules Shear wrote this one. He also wrote If we never meet again which roger mcguinn recorded for his back from rio album.
I hate to break this to you... but Sussana was not the vocalist. It was one of the other girls. They just lip-synched her in the video because she was so pretty. The other girls HATED it, thought it was like lying, but had to yield to managements smart business move. Sorry-the truth hurts.
I used to let this song hypnotize me as a teen...and yes it doesn't hurt that they are all smoking hot! However, looks are not what sold the albums or even the videos, "it was skill john it could be working for you; you want to throw it away...?!?"
I always liked this band, they were a breath of fresh air when they came out. They had a great retro sound and they played their own instruments. The songs still sound great.
women dont only think about shoes and credit cards! women firstly are more intelligent than guys, some of the finest minds are women that is such a bloke comment! for one im in to sports, all types, it doesnt make me gay its just im wider minded,i read widely and i dont spend tons of money on crap like the bimbos do! i study history, chemistry and i play all types of sport like hockey and football (soccer) so dont go stereotyping!
this is late 80s 87 or 88. As a guy personally the other girls are nowhere near in Susannas category of hotness also her voice is super cute. Her solo career was mostly a dud but she's still around as evidenced from here on youtube. And plus she's still hot at almost 50!
What a loser you are!!! Who cares how "hot" she is. It's her talent that counts. Granted, hoffs is talented, but so are the rest of the band. Get a grip you moron!!!!!
I'm not an english major, but I believe hotness is not a proper word. Yes, this is the real world whatever that means horses ass. By the way, horses ass is correct english. Why don't you receive a proper education before you start calling total strangers morons. Your coming across as a ignorant damn fool.
Headley you are arguing this on YOUTUBE and you are trying to play moral superiority and grammar nazi do you even have an inkling how pathetic that is? You cannot argue basic facts please go slice your wrists and bleed to death quietly in a corner.
I always liked Suzanna because she sang in my register and I like to sing to their songs, but you know all of them are incredibly talented, and you guys raving over her (mostly for her looks) are the reason the band actually split up - they were sick of her getting all the limelight when they put equal effort in.
Nice song, but women are too complicated. You literaly bust your you know what for them and it doesn't get you anywhere. No wonder many guys use escorts exclusevly.
I always thought Michael Steele "went the other way" sexually. The clip of her pulling away from the kiss confirms it. But as Seinfeld would say, "Not that there's anything wrong with that..."
Debbie looks so Sandy in a few of those shots. Both go under-rated. It's cuz they're grrls, you know. Wrote their own songs, played their own instruments, did their own singing. And the pop-media leaves them by the wayside. Support your local Bangles...
I saw them perform live in 2000 in a club in Boston. I swear, time stopped still for those women. They looked fantastic in person-Michael gave me chills. I always had a crush on her.
Nope, no wonder. I also have leaned towards harder rock since the early 70's (older guy here). But I like Susanna and the Bangles. I liked the different light album better than the 2nd one (forgot name of 2nd album)
I just wish that Nightflight was back. Nobody sounded as good as Pat Prescott, the announcer. The show debuted weird stuff from the world over, studio pushes, and local comedic weirdness. It was my first ever look at some videos--kinda like the Ed Sullivan show of the Eighties.

The only thing women know what they want are shoes and credit cards with no spending limits.
headley62 4 years ago
a group of ppl as large as (approx) 50% of the world's population produce quite a diverse variety of desires.
therefore, i think we can easily conclude that it would be impossible to make such an obnoxious generalization about them.
besides, buying on credit is stupid

That would be 'horse's ass' as in 'ass of the horse', the apostrophe denoting the possessive.
