Crazy! A Double blade job in the 1980's!? I know it wasn't televised nationally, but back then I thought the WWF did not allow blood in their matches. WWF back then was a lot like WWE is now, more "PG". But this shows, blood once in awhile in a big match is a great addition. I miss old school wrestling for sure.
thinking about it: there was absolutely no one at hogan's level back then. if you look at the guys he went up against, they were basically glorified jobbers. king kong bundy, big john studd, etc. none of them were anywhere NEAR hogan's status. unlike today. john cena, randy orton, etc. all cookie cutter.
Great vintage....awseome footage. very refreshing camera angles. Classic stuff. One of the nicest slams I've see Hogan partake in. I'm gonna go watch Hogan suplex Bossman of the top of the steel cage. You seen that?
@mmscott9 That typical Hogan match was more entertaining than 99% of the stuff on Raw and Impact these days. Say what you want to, but the formula Hogan match from the 80s worked for a reason and got more than a few people interested in pro wrestling (myself included.) People can hate on Hogan for a lot of things today, but it's hard to say a bad word about him pre-1990.
hogan was hugantic back then in toronto. i went to several shows at MLG and it always looked sold out when hogan was there and about half full when he wasn't.
no one got a pop like hogan..u av ur stone colds, rocks, hbk's,but hogan was the best..u dont headline 8 wrestlemania's and win the title on the 9th aswell..wud have been nice to headline x and pass the batton on to bret hart.
The preliminary house shows (Boston Garden, Maple Leaf Gardes, Madison Square Garden and Philly Spectrum shows) that took place from August of 1986 to March of 1987 are probably the most famous and popular house shows ever recorded in WWE history, because of the fact that the WWE was building up to Wrestlemania III. None of the other Boston, MSG, Maple Leaf Garden or Philly Shows during 1988 and 1989 seem to match the magnitude of the house shows that took place during 1986 and 1987.
@lildwayne21 it also had to do with Pay-Per-View becoming a big thing. Before, your national TV shows were basically used to build up the house shows, and the house shows were the actual big events. Yeah, I realize they were taped and aired in local markets, but most of these matches weren't shown nationally, some for decades. The era of the major house show kinda came to an end in the mid-90's tho, with the Kliq and the "MSG incident".
probably their best match that they had together and the most popular match that they had during the 80s, because remember what was Vince McMahon doing back then? HE WAS BUILDING UP TO WRESTLEMANIA III, so he needed all of his top guys to be on his A game which they were. The Hart Foundation, Macho Man Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat, Hulk Hogan, The JYD, Harley Race, the British Bulldogs to some extent and everybody else from November of 1986 to March of 1987 were all on their A games.
Hulk Hogan and Kamala feuded December of 1986 to March 1987, because remember when Hulk started feuding with Andre in January of 1987 to set up Wrestlemania III, Andre was still injured. He was on his last legs, so the WWF depended heavily up on Kamala to go out there and feud with Hogan. Hogan and Andre hit up all the wrestling hotbeds. The Boston Garden, Madison Square Garden, the Philly Spectrum and of course Maple Leaf Gardens. This particular steel cage between Hogan and Kamala is
naw...i aint going for this one!! i remeber a couple of matches where Kamala left hogan in the ring beat the F up! of course Hogan still kept the belt but come on now...He breased through this match like it was nothing
That ring announcer sounds like he's on valium... Kamala was at a disadvantage here because I'm sure the Ugandan Giant was suffering from severe claustrophobia from that cage...
@linksysrouted what was fake about it that belt really hit hogana nd you could hear the crack, you think it didn't hurt? you idiot! planned not fake!
they let hogan win 2 mutch should have let kamala hod tha belt for a while
