  • Obviously these people have never heard of cryptomnesia.

  • shut up what if shes not lying

  • What a dumb bitch.

  • I kinda feel sorry for her.

  • Where can I get a copy, so I can burn it.

  • even looking at her face tells that she is a cheat .fuckin biatch

  • she and her family is a total con people.it is good that her mom and dad died.good riddance.even she should develop cancer and die

  • Well, shes got her hands full now. Karma can be quite a bitch.

  • Her parents were just killed in a plane crash today...

  • well her literary career is over but she could always fall back on doing porn.

  • i'd want to shoot my load in her face...she's a nice indian slut

  • This girl gives writers (and want to be writers) everywhere a bad name. After growing up in an upper middle class background w/ well paid parents and all the opportunities so many people do not have, and scoring a book deal with movie possibilities, she still has the audacity and nerve to claim she "accidentally" lifted, verbatim, words and phrases from other people works. Kaavya is a sorry individual who will continue to have good things handed to her while deserving people struggle.

  • She's just written a new book called "Triassic Park". Basically scientists on an isolated island off the coast of Greece have recreated dinosaurs using advanced cloning techniques. One of the main characters Malcolm Ian is convinced it is doomed to failure, but the founder of the company that made the dinosaurs Jim Hammond refuses to accept it. Eventually a dinosaur expert called Grant Alan must fight for survival when the dinosaurs escape and run amok.

  • She is a living piece of shit. Just reinforcing stereotypes of Indians as cheats and con artists. Good job, bitch!

  • @Floodlezoot

Woah? You saying ALL indians are cheaps and con artists?

  • @JUTUBEEH No. Let's do a little exegesis. If you look at the first sentence "She is just a piece of shit." That is simply meant as a condemnation of her as a person (because of her actions). I often use such terms of abuse for anyone who does something I regard as reprehensible, regardless of their race. For instance, I referred to Chael Sonnen in the same terms. Next sentence: "reinforcing stereotypes of Indians as cheats/con artists" means that I am suggesting a stereotype exists.

  • @JUTUBEEH Secondly, if you look at top comments, one says "She gives Indians everywhere a bad name." Did you ask that person,"Are you saying Indians everywhere have a bad name?" The fact is, the stereotype of Indians as cheats or cons often comes from returned tourists, business people, people who buy things from Indian businesses. Unfortunately, in the area I live in, I've heard such stereotypes often. By no means, does that mean I think every Indian is a cheat. So there you go.

  • i think everyone was just jealous of her. a young talented woman. big fucking deal if there are similar passages, they are not identical and the whole novel is different. if people enjoy reading the book, what's the problem? she can just pay a bit of a royalty fee to the other author. no need to recall all the books! may be people can't handle the success of a young indian woman...

  • @meghamillie No one is jealous. No one cares that she is Indian. People are, however, disgusted by the implicit message that cheating and fraud are legitimate means of getting ahead in this society, provided you don't get caught. It's further disgusting that the legal profession, of which I am a part of, would embrace someone with such a disturbing history of mendacity. Every day, people get barred from practicing law for misdemeanor pot offenses, but not for perpetrating mass fraud? Right.

  • I can't stand cheaters. I graduated with chemical engineering degree and I work hard for everything. I get really angry when I see kids cheat during exams. I believe Kaavya should be expelled from Harvard

  • @OfDaHeeZy84 she didnt cheat in her class, did she? this work and her life at harvard have nothing to do with each other....if she intentionality did this, i think its horrible but if its an accident, then everyone make mistakes!!!! she graduated from harvard with good grades and went onto doing law at Georgetown and now practicing under one of the top firm in the country in NY!!!

  • She is so full of shit. If she knew those books so well and had a "photographic memory", she would have RECOGNIZED she was essentially rewriting it. Nice try.

  • my librarian was giving us a talk on plagarism todaay. she said "kaavya viswanathan is the poster chiled fo rplagarism!"

  • I wonder why Indians, Asians and Jews tend to push their kids to be overachievers. This is rarely seen in the black community.

  • @suegirl145 lol..its not abt being over achievers, its abt making the best out of your life!!! well educated black families do want their kids to go to ivy league school and become a doctor! lol

  • liar

  • her voice is shaking and her body language says it all.

  • she must have gone to the same muslim school as obama. they really teach them how to lie over there!

  • @b0llx she is a hindu indian. this is why she is BLACK . Muslims in india and pakistan are whiter and taller than hindu indians

  • @matinRajakar I think Pakistanis should take a good look at themselves. All this jealousy and rage is really a reflection of themselves and their overindulgence in their religion. Everything came from Islam, the whole world was created because Allah said so and everybody else is lying. Every Moghul king who came to power killed or jailed their brothers and father. THat is the muslim legacy. Since independence from England, every ruler of Pakistan was a jihadist and dictator

  • @tolykozin Forget him they don't even know their muslims in africa.

  • @matinRajakar Ye reallly Shahrukh Khan is really white ha ha. Hrithik Roshan and Neil Nitin Mukesh are much whiter and taller than the Muslims in India. Oh and there are Sudanese muslims that are darker than my fucking hair and I am a Hindu Indian.

  • Unimpressive video. 1 star.

Seems like they are more interested in bringing down the girl, than giving her a fair chance.

  • Hahaaha, love the laugh track addition! :) Awesome. Crash and burn, baby.

  • when i like something, like she obviously does the two books, and quote something from it, i KNOW where it's coming from. It's either you like something and know it by heart ("internalized"), INCLUDING the source, or you're just too stupid to remember anything. all or nothing.

  • yeah. people want to believe she is a fraud. it's possible to absorb something and express it again...what is that quote? "'I've dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas; they've gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind.'" -Wuthering Heights

  • I believe her.

  • Fucking Indian-Americans. They act and walk as if they are better than other Indians just because they have American accent and american lifestyle. Bitches.

  • @wreckedpc . yeah we're bitches. good comment. thoughtful.

  • I was in USA for 2 years and I have seen your kind. So shut the fuck up.

  • you were here? i'm so sorry you left. we didn't get a chance to chat. have a nice day!

p.s. - i said that with an american accent. i hope you're not offended.

  • furking porkistani

  • she plagiarized from many other books too besides megan mccafferty

  • She is so busted!

Why would anyone in their right mind would want to have an Attorney who is such a big blatant liar? How can any client ever trust her?

  • What a terrible thing to do... it'll stay with her for life... and what's worse, a hell of a lot of the public know too! i'm in europe and heard about this story a while ago, and seeing the similarities still shocks me today.

  • A liar studying to be a lawyer? Shocking... This girl has no shame and deserves to get pounded ATM as punishment. I'd hate fuck Kaavya Viswanathan.

  • I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that she "accidentally" plagiarised the text. There are multiple instances of her lifting large portions of texts from other books as well. George Harrison's My Sweet Lord is a case of cryptomnesia. This person just plagiarised without a care at all. Shameful.

  • i heard her professor at harvard forced her to publish.

i think she intentionally plagiarized but never intended it to get published originally. then she forgot. thats her biggest mistake.

  • Comment removed

  • What show or film were the clips of the obnoxious judge from?

  • Billy Madison.

  • I don't see how she can continue to hold her head up in society.

  • @jamesjeffreypaul everyone make mistake and i am sure her becoming a law student is no copying others work!!!! she got over that and put her live together! leave ppl alone!

  • @jamesjeffreypaul people make mistakes...

  • this bitch was getting a $500,000 advance she lost it when she got caught plagerizing she wanted to get rich quick and it backfired on her.

This behaviour is so typical of second generation indians all they care about is money and satus and they will do anything to obtain it even if it means being dishonest. (by the way I'm indian so you can't say i'm being racist)

  • I find it hard to believe for Kaavya to be able to internalize multiple passages from not ONLY Cafferty's novels but many other novels as well. Kaavya's novel was completely unoriginal, and I'm not buying into her bull about being able to INTERNALIZE passages.. Kaavya, I'm sorry girl but you are not representing us Indian American girls well AT ALL! such a shame. get rick quick scheme doesnt work with plaigarism.

  • like i said before im not trying to be a racist but second generation indians are notorious for shit like this. I know so many indians my age who didnt have the marks to get into medschool so they try and scam their way in. The dont want to be doctors because they are interested in health. they want to be doctors because of the status associated with it.

    Also google Salim Damji

  • @Zain844 As an Indian-American myself, I sadly agree with you.

  • @boredlikecrazy88

Some cultures are even worse. i knew this chinese guy in university who hung himself in his dormroom because he didn't have the grades to become a doctor and he was apparently "bringing shame to his family"

Everytime he did badly on a test or flunked something he'd flip out start crying even get violent and throw things. I once said to him "you got issues man i think you need help" Sadly it was too late :( he killed himself the night he got rejected from medschool.

  • @Zain844 That's so sad :( We are driven so hard to succeed that people like us will do anything for it, and flip out when it doesn't happen. I wish this would change. Personally, I'm not smart enough to get into something like med school, so might as well do something that makes me happy :)

  • @boredlikecrazy88

Exactly. the world doesn't need just doctors and lawyers the world needs all kinds of people, writers, artists, bus drivers, mailmen, etc. Just do what you're good at and what you enjoy the hell with what your family thinks.

  • @Zain844 -- Um.. Second generation Indians? You are stereotyping, my friend. I don't care whether you're an Indian or not because you are insulting your own nationality, but what you just said makes me think that whatever the "Second generation Indians" do, Some of them don't even like their own country. And I'm not trying to throw away your opinion or something, just presenting my view which shows to be a bit different than yours.

  • @akankshagupta95

I'm not the only one there are tons of other indians who agree with me. Indians are so concerned with status they will do anything to get it including lying.

  • lol this was funny you should make more commentary's like this.

  • I don't think she gave Indians a Bad name as much she just gave, Indian Women novelists a bad name...and which is rather sad, Cause the whole lot em' are rather genre specific , atleast the new ones, .She completely eliminated the genre of a young indian female protagonist...

  • [cont.]

No doubt, they're in the upper echelons of society(doctor, lawyer), but their personal lives are deeply troubled.

Also, I have noticed is that Indian American women tend to adapt to a completely different lifestyle once they achieve financial independence.

I am no conservative, some of the things I have seen Indian Americans do are shocking by any standards.

  • Overall, I just feel sad for her. The way these second generation Indian Americans are pushed to get to the top is mind-boggling. Eventually, they'll turn out to be very neurotic.

It's already started to happen. I see thirty-something Indian Americans revolting against cultural restrictions in extreme ways. The once 'model' children are now into lots of sex and drugs to compensate for their low self esteem.

  • This was only the beginning.

Later, they found out that she copied passages from several authors, including Salman Rushdie.

The plot itself was copied from Hidier Desai's. Born Confused.

  • I'd think someone who is "smart" enough to get into Harvard would be "smart" enough to write a book without plagiarizing someone else's work.

  • if you haven't read the similarities they can be found at her wiki page Kaavya Viswanathan ..... they were COMPLETELY intentional.

  • she's at georgetown... studying LAW.... as of 2008...

  • @babeyblue20 so she didnt get kicked out of harvard?! wtf.

  • @thegoonist nop...she is a law grad from georgetown now...she made a mistake and she learned from it...nwo she worked very hard to get a career, that is in law and at one of the top school in the USA....so the girl is no dumb...she is a smart person who made a mistake...humans make mistake!!!

  • She gives Indians everywhere a bad name.

  • Don't drag Indians into it, be more specific in saying 'Indian Americans'

  • @rolexx ahmmmm...its not like she killed someone....everyone make mistakes!!!! move on!!! she is a lawyer now and work for one of the popular law firm in New York!!!!! so get over yourself!!! getting into georgetown law school cannot be just through copying others work!

  • I wonder what she has been doing lately. Any updates?

  • umm i didn't know her all that well she never did anything horrible to me personally but i heard she wasn't the nicest person and she was really gossipy.. i knew she had a book deal with harvard.. like i think she was promised harvard that if she was let in she would publish something, so she purposely plagairized because she figured nothing would really happen and she would get to stay at harvard.. or she just panicked

  • It kind of sucks when there are truly gifted writers out there that often go unnoticed. And then there's people like this woman who only get ahead because of things like money, status, or having "connections".

  • I hate plagiarists and phonies....and this bitch takes the cake.

  • i know her.. she went to school with my brothers and was friends with a friend of mine

  • What's your opinion of her? Is she a sociopath? That's how she appears.
