he is a flyer now baby!!!!!!! shoes the cry baby penguins that they can only handle one superstar let alone one who dosent cry everygame!!! The best is how the penguins wanted him and the flyers got him. Ever here the saying "its like stealing candy from a baby."!!!!
@insaneiaq lol one of the best players in the nhl loyal penguin for many years and this is how his "fans" treat him when he decides to join a team that's offering a better salary and had better players on it cant Waite untill jagr shits on you pengs our first match up like ovechkin does
@ckyownz9 A team with better players? Are you kidding me? The Flyers just traded away two of their best players in their prime and picked up a role player in Talbot and a 39 year old has-been in Jagr. Its not that Jagr decided to sign with the Flyers, its how he went about doing it. Saying things like his heart is in Pittsburgh and how he would like to come back and retire a Penguin were just salt in the wound. I guess you wouldn't understand as nobody of value has been a Flyer since Clarke
@insaneiaq no idea why he signed with the flyers other then he wants to win a cup or has connections there. but jagr gave pittsburgh fans 2 cups and teams to cheer for and that is the thanks he gets. psssh. spoiled rotten imo.
@insaneiaq you must be kidding lindros, parent, tocchet, barber, not to mention last season we were #1 in scoring the most of the year and well be even better ina few years since we have some new young players coming in Richards was holding the flyers back i do not miss him but i do indeed miss carter
@ckyownz9 insane was right you guys don't have shit now. you went from being a mediocre team to being nothing now. i find it hilarious that flyer hockey embraces hard work and hard hitting forwards then you go and pick up 39 yr old Jaromir Jagr and pump his tires like you're all in love with him. you'll see how disappointing he will be in due time.
I'm just wildly happy he didn't go to Detroit. I've loved Jagr since before we (Colorado) had the Avs, but that would still be a tough cheer in my mouth.
Welcome back to the NHL, Jagr! Can't wait to see your Flyers get your asses kicked by the Avs... Yea, ok, even I couldn't say that with a straight face...
@insaneiaq Hahaha u sickminded asshole!!Philadelphia is better choice for Jagr, everyone knows that.Pens should by grateful for everything that Jaromír does for them and not spit on his head!
@vojczech You mean what he DID for the team over a decade ago? You're crazy if you don't think Pens fans cheered like crazy for him and embraced him for ten years. We were ready to forgive and forget all the problems he caused and welcome him home with open arms. Don't think for a minute his jersey wouldn't be hanging in the rafters next to 66. What does he do? He goes and signs with out in-state rival after leading everyone on that he would come back and finish it all where it started.
@insaneiaq First of all it is not his home, that is czech repubic. Second of all, Pens rejected him he himself said it in CZ news, so he had no other choice but to go somewhere else.
Jagr gave a decade of his life to Pittsburgh and over 1000 points. He won the league scoring title five times(!) when playing for the Pens. Now, if the Pittsburgh fans have the attitude that they're "ready to forgive" the prodigal son and mercifully take him back to their ranks, is it really any wonder that he didn't blindly and humbly accept the first offer he got?
Remember: HE didn't reject the offer, Pens withdrew the sad 2M offer when he negotiated with other teams.
@insaneiaq and vojczech - I'll help you settle your debate. Jagr is a legend and should always be treated as such by Penguins fans. Sad how fairweather fans cannot appreciate the greatness for what it was. His jersey should hang from their rafters.
Secondly, Philly was definitely the right choice for him. Although they DON'T have better players, Jagr would get more of a chance to dictate the game, never mind that the 2 million contract offered him was complete and utter garbage.
@insaneiaq i'm a pens and an avs fan but the pens would have been raped by the avalanche in 96 if they did move on that was possibly one of the best nhl teams in history
How great would it be to see Jags in a Pens jersey again?! I'd love to see him come back to Pittsburgh. One of the greatest players in the history of the NHL.
he's dropping hints that he wants to come back to the nhl. i really hope the pens try to get him to retire with the club. it would end the relationship right, and at the worst case scenario it would be a great pr for the first year of the new arena: new arena; same old faces :-)
I have no doubt he'll be back in the NHL once his contract is up in the KHL. Hopefully he'll rejoin the Pens as the much needed winger for Malkin or Crosby. I have no doubt Geno's numbers would be much better if he had a winger like Jagr playing along side of him. Mario had Stevens and Jagr. Malkin has Fedotenko, who isn't bad, but not the caliber of player needed. Look how much Crosby improved with Guerin. Jagr's return would be more than just a nostalgic trip, it would really improve us.
he might come back to the penguins and he said he wants to play for mario, he said he would play for less money to play , i would love to c crosby setting up jagr!
I read that too. I'd love to see him finish up his NHL career in Pittsburgh where it all began. Its a shame he didn't sign with us this past year and win the cup again. He'd be the only Penguin to win all 3 cups as a player. Hopefully our championship will just encourage him even more to come back.
It would be awesome to see this marvelous player to come back to Pittsburgh. Being with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, I think it would be GREAT if Mario decided to bring his former partner back to Pittsburgh. I know Pittsburgh fans hated Jagr for signing with Washington, but looking at the win in 2009, it wasn't the same without him. I wasn't happy when he left Pittsburgh, but Jaromir Jagr, or Mario Jr. will ALWAYS be a Pittsburgh Penguin!
eh, Jagr at this point is better suited for Geno's line just because Sid is shooting and scoring a hell of alot more nowadays. in my own opinion anyway
@daburgh1111 it would be sweet if jagr came back to play with crosby & malkin and then mario decided he might as well join in on the fun. won't happen, but i guess i could always dream :-p
Gee I wonder if the Rangers don't miss him just a LITTLE BIT. How can Glen Sather be so motherfucking stupid as to give Redden all that money, then give Naslund (whose not at all a bad player as long as he is not a go-to guy) who's only a year younger than Jagr too much money, but never have any kind of idea on how to replace Jagr? To boot they lost Martin Straka and Shanahan. You do not even have to be knowledgable about Hockey to know that this current Rangers team was poorly thought out.
Yeah we miss Jagr big time, and not re-signing Shanny was just retarded the guy wanted to play for us. Sather is so ass backwards it's retarded, no one on the current roster could carry the team like Jagr.
i would say pittsburgh misses him but nahhh he was to much of a whiney ass towards the end wanting a trade which i understand the pens were rebuilding now were back baby
Only thing that bothered me about Jagr was they he'd opt not to shoot in the shootout because he didn't like it and it cost us a game against Atlanta one night. Other than that he was never really whiney with us and I loved watching him play. He's the only guy in the league who could stick handle through 5 guys untouched and score
yeah but like i said he twards the end he was really un happy with mario not playing and francis gone i dont think he was up for enduring a rebuilding period. i guess i can understand that he was that good to not have to go through that but none the less i heard the comentaters talking about locker room gm president talk and they said jagr wanted a trade and had been for several years before he went to washington
Agreed, I think Drury is only captain because of his reputation. I always thought Jagr was a better captain, he promised us playoffs and got us there. Gomez was a bust I really miss Shanny but Sather dicked him around. It'll be interesting to see if Gaborik can feel the void that Jagr left if he can stay healthy.
Ah, no your lying. Both Drury and Gomez are not great players. Good maybe, but definitely not great. I consider Gomez to be the leagues most over rated player. Typical 60 to 70 point second line player. Only once has he broke 20 goals. Because of his high pay and praise you would think he's atleast a point per game player, but no.
i seen that play off game i stayed up to 2 ni the mornin i thought it was so funny they were so tired everyone was using the doors to the benches instead of jumping over the wall
It wasn't right, thats for sure. I think the Pens really deserved the championship that year. Thanks to the Panthers and all their plastic rats, we were robbed.
this is the first year i started watching hockey and lemieux-jagr. best team ever!!! I;ve loved the penguins ever since. Had a few rough years but now they are the best team in the league!!!! The stanley cup is not far off. Several stanley cups are on the horizon
Jagr not signing with the Pens may have been a blessing in disguise. We shall wait and see.

That's exactly why I consider that playoff loss to the Panthers far worse than this years. Pens had a decent season, but 93 and 96 are prime examples
of better teams that did not win the cup. Just wasn't our year.
