@deliano2 ; you should try living in England, where we have more CC-TV cameras than elsewhere in Europe, a police force who have abandoned parts of our cities, and where armed feral youths ramble at will. And a supine liberal government. And for a final touch the BBC (on 'economy grounds') is withdrawing our last local c&w radio programme. Nothing 'country' or 'folk' on TV of course. Thank goodness for YouTube/RealPlayer......
Beautiful duo! Kitty and Red were the real deal - the real pioneers. Few have been talented enough to keep up their tradition. Thanks for posting these great country legends!
Great great music!! I pity, and so would KItty and Red, those who use profanity in their comments. The influences that wreck most "new country" are similar to those that derail many people's speech: the trashing of good traditional values in favor of cheap substandard harmful ones.
@deliano2 AMEN, deliano2--You have nailed it exactly...it's an organized effort to "trash" every traditional value and anything decent in the U.S. If you destroy a country's morals, then the country has no "anchor" or "moral compass" and is totally lost. I congratulate you for understanding this! I'm a country/boogie-woogie musician...I would appreciate it if you would watch my vid. Thank you!
It's a great shame what has happened to country music industry! Jan 2011 I turn 50 years old and I can still remember watching that multicolored decca ribbon spinning on mom's turntable, I grew up on this GREAT stuff! It will never be replaced! The ONLY other music my mom allowed in the house besides this GREAT country gold was Elvis Presley! GREAT job posting these timeless classics, thank you for the beautiful memories they bring back!!!!!!!!!!
I WISH WE HAD THESE FOLKS AROUND TODAY,WE COULD ENJOY COUNTRY MUSIC ONCE AGAIN. I LISTENED TO KITTY AND ALL OF HER SONGS WHEN I WAS IN GERMANY IN 1954.THANKS FOR POSTING THIS , IREALLY ENJOYED IT.
i love all of Kitty Wells songs ,ive met her in Nashville i have a picture of her and I in 1993. Kitty i,ve always loved you & your songs. i wish i could find the song Nelly mae Johnson
RE: "Those Steel Guitar Licks" I heard from the daughter of the man who did this in Miss Kitty's band and she once told me she would put me in contact with her did so I could learn them but she never did...OH WELL! Yeppp..cold shivers!
This was a mighty powerful song in 1954. It spent 19 consecutive weeks at #2 on the best seller list behind Hank Snow's "I Don't Hurt Anymore", totaling 21 weeks at #2. Also made "1 on the Juke box chart. five stars.
Searched for this many times, nothing came up,wanted Jim Reeves,as I heard Jim sing this years ago,but hey not complaining love Kitty Wells,Thank you Alan for your input.
I was listening to an internet radio station called "hilly billy classics" and I heard this song and from now on it was stuck in my head. Great tune ;) - Greetings from germany!!
i remember this best on the roy drusky/priscilla mitchell "loves eternal triangle" album. another great duo you don't hear too much about. i ain't a singer, but i been roped into a karaoke duet with my friend. she was born in '64, but loves the old stuff.
this is country music at its BEST there is no coutry music produced today its all southern rock and it a shame that all the new singer have forgot what country music is all about
