  • Although about 80% of the people quit smoking cold turkey it does have a couple of drawbacks.

    1. You can put on weight.

    2. You can become depressed

    3. You can put on weight and become depressed

You see your mind wants you to smoke - it thinks it a good idea to smoke. So if you take away its ‘toy’ it will substitute another benefit of its choice. Because of the hand to mouth movement it usually chooses food. So you start eating to compensate. Only hypnotherapy avoids these problems.

  • @Shokat01 Shameless advertising for hypnotherapy smack of absoluteism. Hypnotherapy is NOT the only solution or methodology to ease symptoms.

  • @infektyou There is no place in this world for absolutism. I am basically stating a fact on the simple way the mind works. The unconscious mind is like a three year old brother or sister, it is always trying to protect us. So once you develop a habit then your mind will protect this as it thinks its good for you. However, when the pain of smoking becomes too great then you go through instant self-hypnosis. Your willpower goes through the roof, you throw away your cigs and you never smoke again.

  • YOu two are so funny! I laughed so hard at this video and I am very proud of you guys for quitting smoking! I quit cold turkey 5 months ago and it's been a rough ride. I'm still here though and I'm still not smoking! Thanks for making me laugh and give us an update when you have a chance. ツ

  • @annabodhi38

We're delighted for you as well. Cold Turkey is tough...although with some mustard and pickles on the side...but I digress. We're thrilled that you enjoyed our webisodes. We've just celebrated 3 years of not smoking...and not being thin anymore (OK, we didn't celebrate the not being thin part...just bemoaned it). Best to you,

    Meg & Brent

  • excellent and congrats to you. I am 1 month away now from my 2 year mark too. I miss smoking but don't think about it much. I gained 30 lbs too, yuch...but I can breathe man it is worth it to breathe and to know that I will be able to breathe in the next 20 years too. Hang on and when we are old enough to start smoking again the smokes will be illegal...

    Love and hugs

    Diana

  • Thank you for sharing with us. We're thrilled for you...not the 30 pounds part...but the rest. You're quite right, when we start smoking again, we'll have to down the basement and draw the curtains and...wait...that was the 70's. We'll be keeping good thoughts for you.

    Luv Luv

    Meg & Brent

  • Bravo! Very entertaining and inspiring. I agree, you both look better today than when you first started this journey.

    Rita Tateel

  • Thank you Rita for the kind words. We're having them notorized and put on t-shirts.

    Best,

    Meg & Brent

  • Congratulations Meg and Brent!! What an accomplishment!!!! You know, on that last video, my first impressions weren't "they gained weight," I thought...WOW! Look how great they look! You look so healthy and I'm sure you feel so much better too. Congrats again!

  • Dear Favorite Foodie,

We think your kind words are better than a basket full of anti-oxidents. We chose a sitting position that sort of worked for us. My profile would indicate a man who swallowed a watermellon without chewing first. However, you're so right! We feel so much better...we look so much better...hell, I don't even mind the baldspot so much (that's actually crap).

Love to you from both of us.

    Meg & Brent

  • Hi Breeanna123100,

Please forgive the delay in getting back to you are quite correct. Meg's hair is more shiny...and if she could she'd give some to me. I do look healthy...especially the way I had my bald spot and my pot belly so well hidden. Your kindness is so appreciated, we hope to converse with you again real soon. PLEASE keep us posted on your efforts, quitting smoking sucks...well it's easier if you don't suck...but you ge the idea.

    Love,

    Meg & Brent

  • very nice,

you guys look fantastic. celebrating 2 years today myself. didnt think it could be done but low and behold it sure can. yeah us!!!

want to talk weight??? me either....lol you guys look great!!!!!

  • Hi there Blueskies...

It's great to hear from you. Two years for you as well....we are soooo thrilled! I can't imagine we'll lose the urge...but the desire is gone. We're happy you made the trip with us. Pehaps in the days ahead...we'll do some other YouTube traveling together.

    Best Always,

    Meg & Brent

  • Meg and Brent, congratulations on 2 years of being smoke free! I enjoyed the video-at least you had a fun project to keep you motivated and thousands of viewers to inspire and stay accountable to. What a great idea! I'll be sharing this with my boyfriend who would love to be smoke free as well.

    Genevieve

  • Hi Genevieve,

Forgive the delay. I hope your boyfriend can make the transition to non-smoker. It's very hard, but very worth it. If there's something we can do to help...just let us know. We could tie him to a chair and make him watch all 7 of our webisodes 100 times each...but that might wear really heavy on him and your relationship.

But tell him he has friends who know what it's like...and we understand.

    Best always,

    Meg & Brent

  • Hey guys it's Tom, suddenly remembered your quest for cigarette-lessness and found you... again! You both look great, I have just finished the course of patches for the first time in my life and I think I've finally nailed this one on the head! Get the odd craving now and again, but I honestly cannot picture myself touching one again. Slipped up half-way through and it tasted foul.

Hope to hear more from you soon, looking forward to the next vid!

  • Hi Tom,

Zippychill...we like it! Good to hear from you. We don't think the craving ever goes away, but the smell will put you off and the taste is killer. Don't sweat the slip-ups...you came back and finished.

    Best,

    Meg & Brent

  • You guys look great! I am still not smoking too. Almost 18 months. I don't miss it 99% of the time. Congratulations.

  • Almost 18 months is outstanding! Micki, you should be very proud of yourself. We're very proud of you for hanging in and we're very thrilled you stayed with us through all of this. Thanks for your kind words about how we look. Did you notice how cleverly I kept my bald spot out of every shot?

    Best, Meg & Brent
