I was originally introduced to contact juggling as sphereplay at the Rennaissance Festival in North Carolina. I got my ball and the cheesy (but helpful) instructive DVD to go along with it. I practiced diligently for about 8 months. But i have since put it down for a few years. Im trying to get back into it and i seem to remember how it feels in my hand, like its still natural. But im having troubles with the fluidity of some moves. IS it the size of the ball? its quite small now that ive grown.
Kenny, How much do you charge to do a 2 hour party host/ contact juggling. I might be able to hire you. I am a member of a big club and we like to hire different talent to come out and host our dinners. It's all for charity and helping people too that's our club. We are by South Coast plaza in Costa Mesa CA.
@tomvercruysse lacross ball sucks but is the right weight and (a little small) size to get a feel for contact juggling. Best $2 contact ball I have found. You cant do any palmspinning and the isos dont look special, but you can learn the most basic techniques with it.
can you tell me the advantages and disadvantages of the different balls?...like...i know the advantages of the different sizes and stuff from one of your other vids...but i mean why would someone use an acrylic instead of a fushigi?...or vice versa?...or maybe a metal one instead of an acrylic?...or vice versa? so on and so forth...sorry for asking so many questions on different videos..i'm just learning and im quite an inquisitive person:/
@MisterZombiefied big for body rolls, small for palmspinning, 3 inch is the standard that makes it hard to do everything, but has the most versatility. fushigiballs were designed to be like acrylics but be sun-safe, metallics are similar usually heavier, and have a different feel. It comes down to personal preference. I recommend Fushigi to start, but you might end up liking other balls better, but other balls would limit your initial experience.
@AmazingKennyT thanks:)))....i was thinking it was just a preference for looks at first, but figured there was more to it...i've got a couple fushigi ive been practicing with for a while but i'm debating on ordering acrylics....i don't practice outside so sun isn't a worry....was wanting to do a little research first and you seem to be the most helpful (knows the most info and actually answers questions)
@AmazingKennyT Hey, I just got my fushigi today. I got it Not cause it's a 'good' ball but cause it was a really good deal for a CJ ball. I don't like how they advertised their product. They scaled a lot of people but what can you expect from a infomercial. But I have to say one thing to you. Fushigi is not a good ball. Especially not for isolations. It's made sloppy and there are so many tell marks on the inside sphere it's sad. It's a really cool ball but not a show ball. Just saying. No harm
i cant seem to get the motion and get it into the stall do u have to move your hand with the motion or do u like just move your fingers to get it on the tip of ur fingers?
hey man. this is so cool. i think im gonna order the fushigi ball. What is a good beginner size to order? some people say go small at first ( 3 inch) while others say buy a big one at the start (4 inch). you're an expert so I will trust your word. what is a good size for someone that is a beginner (no juggling experience of any kind in the past lol :P)
@thatPUNKdude 4 inches are good for body rolls but may be heavy to start with for hand rolls and some isolations. Acrylics or Fushigi give the best isolations (in my opinion) but stage balls or "Sil-x" are lighter.
I actually do recommend a standard fushigi because it is a good ball and it comes with a FREE dvd. Other ball+DVD packs I saw were closer to $50 instead of $27.00.
If you do get hooked then you will buy more, and you'll know exactly what YOU want, instead of what I tell you.

Do you think it would help to do this If I cut my nails? Because once the ball is up there it slips down. no grip
2kems 11 months ago
@2kems nails should have nothing to do with it. It is balanced on 3 points of contact.
