  • Ladies and Gentlemen, Jagger and Bowie's love child: The majesty of Richard Butler.

  • I'm dating myself here but whatev...glorious memories of my 11th grade year in HS...ahh.. the 80's!

  • YEAH I REMEMBER!! We were a lot more passionate about things, life, romance, and music. By the way, 87 & 88 were the best years of my life. Unlike the newer generations we never confused love with sex, and passion. We just were......

  • voltar ao passado

  • I remember being 15 years old and moving from Indianapolis to San Francisco with my family and hearing this song on the radio and seeing this video on MTV in the hotel rooms. I love the Psychedelic Furs!

  • Nothing like being young and in love when this song came out..

  • I thought the single came out in 1987. How come the video's copyrighted 1986? Great song, anyway

  • @NYYMGMG The song was published/recorded in 1986, but it was released as a single in early 1987.

  • hey does anyone remember when this song came out when we were young and we all thought we were SO cool...we thought we were the bees knees and that we were going to stay young forever and never get old... well we were WRONG WRONG WRONG but, hey, at least we still have great songs like this to remind us how it used to be ... rock on everybody......

  • Richard Butler is a heartbreak beat playing all night long, he turns the radio on, down to your street.

  • nothing but <3

  • THis version is shorter than album version, and I'm sure its bpm were speed up too...great stuff, I know this song since 1987

  • @santiago2u This version even sounds slightly different from the US single version.

  • When music was still music.

  • One of the best songs ever emanated from this rock into outerspace.

  • time to lose the boys and its time for the men to step up!! this song is for us, the 80's generation. peace.

  • @kidfantastik Don't forget Night Tracks:D!

  • @hellradiolives Night Tracks was awesome!!

  • I love this song!

  • This song used to bug me for so fucking long time, first i heard was from my big brothers' old C-casettes, and once they were run down, there was no way to hear those songs again. Now i accidentally hear this playing faintly on the background of a particularly nasty gangbang porno video. Good thing to hear this again though. There's still so many songs from those old casettes that i only remember some vague few words and melodies that even google or songtapper cant help with.

  • @kidfantastik i never missed Friday Night Videos !!

  • cool song

  • They did have autotune back then but everyone didn't rely on it.

  • I thought I would find here the music video from Here Come Cowboy ... :(

  • @kidfantastik I'm with u! hey, even 78-93~! Im 36 and this is MUSIC! a SONG!! today? dance beat, hip hop, fuckin bob your head club shit. Its not even music, its club noise, but its the mainstream,. Its a shame that this is the first thing kids hear today on the radio, thats why they think it is the shit. They dont know what real music, like this, is all about.

  • I saw these guys at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Connecticut a few weeks ago - just awesome and amazing. You gotta see them. His voice is still on the on the money. Dancing in the front with the crowd to this tune was simply exhilarating.

  • Friday night video's . Before we got cable and mtv lol . CL 86

  • the 80's was the BEST!!!!

  • mmmm psychedelic furs~ DEFINITELY one of my favorite bands.

  • I really can't stand most old music because it sounds cheesey to me, but I really like this band. I can't stop listening.

  • @ShynessIsGolden Cheesy? Are you kidding? 80% of the music today wouldn't be around if niot for the 1950s-1980s. I personally don't like the 80's but the 80s were a very creative and new period for glam, psychedelic, and funk. I can't stand most music today. Except MGMT, they're original unliek Gaga and justin beiber

  • @seanthamaster I know, but to someone my age, listening to music like this is sort of dorky to my peers. I'm starting to like "old" music much more than I used to, but I can't help but laugh at the trends back then (And of course everyone will laugh at the trends today in the future).

  • @ShynessIsGolden I could care less what my peers think, i can easily pick things to make fun of about hte music they listen to. THey didn't have autotune back in the day. Didn't need it like most singers today.

  • @seanthamaster I don't care all that much either, as most of them know full well I listen to this. I don't think singers today need autotune. There are plenty of good singers today, I just don't enjoy the style of music or the autotune.

  • Always dig the Furs!!!

  • Best British sounding American band of the 80's

  • @MrBigcolly THEY WERE FUCKING ENGLISH MAN !!! FUCKING HELL WHAT R YOU ON GEEZER !!

  • @MrBigcolly please check your facts BEFORE making claims like this, the furs ARE BRITISH.they sound british, they look british, they ARE british.hope thats cleared it up for you

  • I was surprised to see that this only went as high as #26, real good song, at least I think so. And you guys are right when you say that there has always been "good music" out there, no matter when. Lots of awesome stuff to listen to nowadays.

  • @donnydcyclops It did not do as well as that in the UK. it only reached #79 in the chart over here in November 1986, but should have been a bigger hit.

  • the Furs hit #26 in Billboard, 5-23-87. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • 4 people must be heartbroken, lol...

  • Big time rush? Maybe they outta just rush on outta here so we can HEAR THIS SONG!

  • saw the furs 80s at glastonbury when glastonbury was a proper festival not like now never paid to get in no police on site /the furs came on i was out of my head on acid and a electrical storm started fuking hell i was away it was meant to be i feel sorry for the people who pay to go to glasto its finished i wouldnt go if i was paid but what a great band anyone who dont know the furs i recomend the album MIRROR MOVES U will fucking love it

  • MultiNickDanger knows nothing about music.....but DrummerGrrrl knows what it's about. There has always been great music...if you want to find it then dont look at the charts...."oh it was so much better back then"....yeah whatever. Pretty in Pink didnt even chart in the USA when it first came out. So if you'd looked to the charts you wouldnt have caught the Furs.....but now everyone can afford to make music and it's out there and it's pretty damned good....

  • :)

  • These are real artists, not the shit music we´ve got nowdays!!!!

  • fuck you facebook

  • Thank you mom for being my age in the 80's! Love you~

  • this song is all smick, fab, choice, wtf you know what i mean.

  • 3 people have no taste what so ever

  • fuck Vevo I am out of here before watching another ad... fuck VEVO!!!

  • @sebastienpaproki2000 ads are everywhere...dont pay atention is the trick..open your cabinet .name brands that u will buy again....fuck the ads ...the music is all that matters!!!

  • Fuck Vevo and its commercials

  • this album was a really good cd but didn't sell well

  • The true reason the sax has returned - pure bliss.

  • damnit i love this song!!

  • i loooveee his voice! ;D

  • saw Furs Live in 1992....nothings ever been the same

  • @exzealient saw them in 2000 with the gogos and the b52s,it was one of the best concerts i've ever been to!!!

  • 90s were good too in some respects

    who didnt like no rain

    or collective soul

    run around by blues traveller

yes the 80s were amazing but dont go saying thats when the music died

Don McLean was saying that music died in 71, before this song was even out

everyone has nostalgic connections to music of their childhoods

dont throw out the towel yet

  • Man!! I missed this kind of music...

  • you are dead right zombieman, this is probable my favorite furs song, cant wait to see thewm next month in knoxville, tn.

  • @TheCamsdad67 Have a great time!! Sure it will be a blast...

  • Man! What a fucking song!! Go ahead and try to find another song like this today! It's a fuckin shame what complete crap is on the radio today, all rythm shit, not music like this. I wish the 80's would come back into the music world and give a spear headed boot to the Justin Bieber Gaga Gag me, slop right the fuck out of the mainstream. And finally make radio and music make sense again. If you are with me, thumbs up!!!! Good mood song!

  • To Natalie M. from Michael, you were my first school crush and the first girl to break my heart-that was my "heartbreak beat".Whenever I hear this song I think about you.Selah....

  • This is just an awesome song.Makes you wanna get up and dance like theres no tomorrow. This song makes you want to rock to it.Who cares what you look like when you dance.Dance like no ones looking.Enjoy the youth while you still have it.It all goes so fast.

  • The 80's was supposed to be the decade of greed...seems pretty innocent now. days!!! I was in college when this was hot, was 10' ft from them!!! ears still ringing, one of the best nights of my life!

  • Agreed on Peter Murphy who has an amazing voice much like Richard Butlers. Both are real talents.

  • Rafael, I love you with all my heart forever and ever! Don't ever 4get that...

  • Christ, they do NOT make music like this anymore!! This particular music hit really wedges into my heart, and makes me yearn for the good old days (the Eighties) and the great memories. One of the best groups of the '80s, hands-down,barnone!!!

  • Caught them Saturday night on their current tour - playing all of Talk Talk Talk and then their biggest hits. Great show -- they seemed to really enjoy the crowd and the moment! It was a revisit to 80s joy for sure!

  • Geniales!!! esto es hacer música!! me siento afortunado de haber crecido en los 80tas!!

  • I swear that Richard Butler, who I totally love, is what you would get if you fused David Bowie and Mick Jagger! He's fucking awesome!!

  • I definitely agree with pjsimari and MultiNickDanger, the 80's will forever be the sanctuary for great bands and artists with great immortal songs from jazz, to pop and the gods of metal.

  • @MultiNickDanger

Yeah yeah, very emotive. Have you bothered to look past today's chart drivel?

Try stepping past your self-righteous nostalgia and actually exploring modern music.

"kids with any taste at all have to go back in time."? For your own benefit, try bands like Bright Eyes, Manchester Orchestra, Radiohead,The White Stripes, Primal Scream, Grizzly Bear. Just a few names off the top of my head, educate yourself.

Yours sincerely, a Psychedelic Furs fan.

  • @jonahbing567: Yep, gotta totally agree with you. I love The Furs, Love & Rockets, Aztec Camera, early U2, Inspiral Carpets, Big Country, etc. etc. but I'm tired of people complaining that there isn't any decent music anymore. People, get a clue! Ya gotta search through a lot of sh*t to find the diamonds but they do exist. Ever heard of Radiohead, Muse, The Shins, Belle & Sebastian, Vampire Weekend?

  • um, NOT!

  • @DrummerGrrrl YOU CAN HARDLY COMPARE TODAYS MUSIC TO BACK IN THE DAY THOUGH CAN U !!! COME ON THE MIGHTY CLASH!! THE JAM / THE POGUES ETC NOTHING AS GOOD AS THAT NOW !! END OF STORY !!

  • @bristolcityifcation and this is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I find that there are artists today that I listen to more than my favorite older bands, but again we all have different preferences.

  • Richard Butler has one of the great voices of rock and, especially, the 80's. The Psychedelic Furs rule!

  • @uncleelmer Neck and neck so to speak with Peter Murphy.

  • What a voice!

  • dam this brings back the great times of the 80sss

  • Yeah, this makes me go through the day, thank you Psychedelic Furs!

  • pure poetry.

  • Geezus! Why is Wham's "Last Christmas" plus even more putrid garbage on the links?

F$%# you corporate factory music and f@!^& your braindead fans!

  • <3 awesome band and always will be<3 :)

  • Cure and Psychedelic Furs. Last two great English groups.

  • Furs...dont wear them...listen to them.

  • to all the english on site cheers i love the furs

  • I had thought I had heard all of the most awesome 80's songs until this came on the radio the other week... What a song!! Further solidifies my foolproof opinion of the 80's as the best period of music ever!!

  • I had thought I had heard all of the most awesome 80's songs until this came on the radio the other week... What a song!! Further cements the 80's as the best period of music ever!!

  • I don't care if you are a GenXer or Gen Nexter- jam this in a drop top with your chick beside you and it does "Feel lke love". Hell yes!!

  • I got something to hold against Britney Spears, a paint brush to paint my house! Now ALL you dirty minded people go get a room!

  • excellent audio & video, thanks a million:)

  • I used to love this group!!!

  • YES! Yet another hit... 80's rocked!

  • Simply stunning production - the sax makes the track one of the greatest pop - yes pop - tracks ever.

  • What a sexy man.

  • Sounds like Cher ripped this song off with the song "If I could turn back time" released 3 years later.

  • @docileprimate There are poets and there are assholes :)

  • @docileprimate Oh wow... I never noticed, but yes, the music is very similar.

  • @GraviFreak in the 80's (and before) the corporations were afraid of rock music and wanted to destroy it. Now the corporations own all the radio stations and music labels - and have killed it that way

  • gotta love the Furs. Epic

  • I always felt like i was in The Psych Furs though I am not

  • was this the theme song to Heartrbreak Ridge? Does anyone know?

  • @BobDust2010 No. While The Psych Furs are awesome, they are a diff kind of awesome from Clint Eastwood.

  • I'll listen to this, in 40 yrs, rad tune, but confused about a heartbreak beat and it feels like love. The what feels like love? The heartbreak? The heartbreak beat thats beating all night long feels like love itself? or pereption of love? or the heartbreak beat fells like (making) love?

  • Whats up with the advertisement? Just more BULLSHIT huh?

  • Psychedelic furs what a great band.

  • Unforgettable - and his outfit - it is the sweetest perfection as nanogirl said...

  • One of the best summers of my life. Great concert at Red Rocks.

  • rman i love this band

  • Did Butler rip off Billy Idol or t'other way round?

  • This song reminds me of summer and passion...it feels like love!

  • The drums and horn section kick ass

  • I was born in 92 and i had 2 other sister who were born in the 80's and im glad they listened to real music.......if not who know what i have been listening today haha

  • meh, i feel sorry for today's kids, the only music they have is, well, what they have - it's not cool that kids with any taste at all have to go so far back in time to find anything worth a listen - i guess it's the spirit of the age - cheap thrills, money, violence, no hope for the future, not even any righteous anger - they're the most enslaved generation, no wonder no one can write a decent song anymore

  • @MultiNickDanger yeah I understand what you're saying and I agree :[

I'll be 20 pretty soon, and I seriously cannot stand the music we have right now.. or since a long while ago... but I have loved old music since my childhood so this is all I refer to :] It makes me feel good and reminds me of childhood memories. I do feel sorry for our generation, it's truly tragic, I feel stupid even listening to a meaningless "modern" song.

    Sincerely,

    a youngster from the 2010's.

  • @Jellybeaner1991 Its ok Jelly,We cant pick and choose when we are born. But we can try and make the best of times we do have. And we cling to those memories we will have.Thats what makes life just a bit better.

  • @MultiNickDanger Well, find comfort that there are still a few kids out there that listen to this stuff. I'm 13 and listen to the psychedelic furs, morrissey/the smiths, new order, bauhaus, etc. repeatedly. So a few of us tend to break away from the crap.

  • @MultiNickDanger perhaps, as has been argued elsewhere, rock'n'roll has simply come to it's sad and very natural end? After all who back in the 1920's and 30's would have predicted that Jazz would almost vanish from the mainstream and become a minority sound?

  • @MultiNickDanger this is the same dumb thing people IN the 80's said about the 70's music......

  • @mjornelles

i disagree - i was born in '65, have always been on the music scene - i saw the 70's react to the 60's, 80's to the 70's, 90's to the 80's, and now the 00's to the 90's - i've witnessed a clear drop-off in relevance over the last decade - i'm not some old fart practicing fogey-ism; if i was, i would've rejected the 90's - i can't imagine people enjoying much of the current generation's art in 20 years, artists are obviously grasping for a muse now, in all industries - deal with it

  • @MultiNickDanger how many people are longing for grunge or britanny spears these days? NOBODY

  • @MultiNickDanger Hey!

I think I maybe able to write a decent song! >:(

    :P

  • @MultiNickDanger if you look hard enough you will find good modern music :)

  • @MultiNickDanger u r soooo right brother....

  • @MultiNickDanger I think we have an advantage. The 60's - 90's already happened, with its good & bad times, and now we can reflect on it's influence. Many bands are making great music, like Sigur Ros, Porcupine Tree, Mogwai, and Grizzly Bear. But there's this huge charade of pop culture standing between people and the good stuff. It's more obscured. Gotta dig for the gold, otherwise you're just treading on dirt.

  • @BruisedEyeSockets I agree with you on that, I guess back in the day it was a birthright to be blessed with great tunes

  • @BruisedEyeSockets if you wrote that last sentence keep on writing!!

  • @MultiNickDanger

if you actually go deeper we are enslaved for a reason

  • I wish they would show more of the chicks dancing with whips instead of the Furs!

  • WTF with the dislike this song kicks ass

  • I was a teen in the 2000s...and yes nothing good out of it, I love new wave; it is ALL I listen to! I wish I could go in a time machine away from hannah montana and bieber or whoever else!

  • Wow. I had the CASSETTE,Midnight to Midnight back in 87 I think. Damn I feel old...

  • @panamaniak It could be worse. You could be a teen today with a downloaded MP3 of a single song by Justin Bieber. Don't feel old; feel cool. I do.

  • Is this the 45 version? I never liked the beginning. The full intro isn't there and it's missed.

  • The Eighties - simply was the end of everything that once was and the begining of everything that is - the last decade of Innocence - this song among many others from the eighties takes me back to such a moment in time - love it -

  • @pjsimari Very well said!!!

  • @pjsimari All I can say is AMEN to that!! Music went way downhill after 1990.

  • thanks, you said exactly what i was thinking.

  • Truth be told...these boys were obviously prompted by their management team to go all "Duran Duran" with their look and excessive use of hairspray..they lost their hardcore fan base as they appeared to be sellouts without the balls to resist the temptation to cash in on the "New Wave " craze and they became nothing more than a flash in the pan whereas you have a band like U2 who avoided adjusting to the current trend and stood true knowing that the music alone would be enough.I LOVE THIS SONG

  • Epic song!

  • Long live new wave.

  • I won't even tell you how many copies of this on cassette I wore out back in the day!! I adore the Furs- a-friggin'-dore the Furs.

  • I Love the 80's. I miss the 80's.

  • this song reminds of you Natalie M.,I hope you're enjoying living in Manhattan. You're a long way from Texas,I guess we were never meant to be,but we will always have the 26th of December....

  • Im digging this hairstyle!

  • ♥ anything Psychedelic Furs!!!

  • Richard Butler was so passionate about his music. Everything the psych firs did was great!

  • A true Classic.

    danger plug

  • its all about the 80s music

  • This jam takes me back to the 10th grade...

  • The Furs became widely popular when they were at their creative low point. Seems that when a band "sells out" and starts writing shallow and predictable music, they suddenly become very popular and mainstream. Ask any seasoned artist when they became "hit-makers" and they'll often tell you that it was when they gave up on creativity and started following formulas. That always confused me b/c it suggests that the general public has shitty taste

  • @ritter89, those are wise fucking words, my friend, very fucking wise.

Those words seem particularly applicable to a host of late 70's/early 80's "superbands" e.g. The Police, R.E.M., U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, et al...

Honestly, are you really surprised that the general public has absolutely 100% horseshit taste? If you have not already, get used to it, because the world is chock-full of fucking morons, God love 'em!

    Your thoughts?

    Cheers!

    FrankC32

  • "Seems that when a band "sells out" and starts writing shallow and predictable music" WHAT??? That's a bunch of elitist horseshit my friend. The fact is, they were popular when they started writing and performing good music.

  • Defo holds up. Sweet Memories. Danced 'til I dropped.

  • yeah I love this music

  • This brings back so many teenagehood memories!!

  • I could and would dance to this with my wife but my 2 left feet would be a problem!Awesome song,Great post!
