  • I see 20 Yoko Ono fans have voted...

  • Just beautiful

  • Is there a set-list?

  • shes a country chrissy hyndes

  • @unrealeh Agreed! Fan of both beautiful, talented ladies!

  • Jim Lauderdale on the harp!

What an incredible band.....Kenny Vaughan on guitar -- yikes.

  • You misspelled "Williams" in the title.

  • @OriginalJaan thanks for that, didnt even notice, i was too into her and the band. we do need designated drivers like you though.

  • this is not what i was looking for... but ok...

  • Great DVD performance! Jim Lauderdale on acoustic and BGV is a real treat. Whole band just rocks, tasty and right there.

  • No disrespect to Lucinda, but that Tele player's tone is to die for!

  • what a talent ...she is doing some shows with dylan leblanc..should be an awesome show..can't wait. nice post thanks

  • Gibson J-45?.... Absolutely love mine.

  • Who could dislike this?

  • Anybody know what kind of guitar she plays? Gibson?

  • @ssprosup Lucinda is playing a Gibson guitar, not sure what model - made in Bozeman, MT, but get yourself a Martin - Gibsons are too heavily constructed, IMO. The only Gibson acoustic I've met that I really liked was a '67, and it was astonishing in its tone & clarity. Martins have nice light tops that resonate beautifully, even the inexpensive models.

  • @ssprosup It's a J45. I have one. J45's are very versatile guitars that record very well. Very different sounding to a Martin but just as good in their own way.

  • She is awesome! So much talent. I would like to see her and Ryan Bingham duet. Think that would be the ultimate in combining of talent. shes been around and is still wonderful and hes new but has her kind of talent. just think that would be great and i would love to be there to see it.

  • She's an indescribable talent. Some would say she's the dylan of the 2000's, some would say she's the Johnette Napalotano of the '90's - I'd say she's the e.e.cummings of the second decade.

  • She is unpredictably perfect!!

  • WHERE U been for 30 YEARS ?

  • I seen her for the first time at acl fest. good stuff for sure

  • When people start yacking about "American Idol" I ask them if they own any Lucinda Williams. Inariably they answer "No". I then tell them to turn the TV off and go buy one of her albums and discover real talent.

  • @RichYan33 Nice you tell em.' Those idols are song cover celebrities substituting for the real thing. Spoon fed sugar to the average american couch potato. Lucinda is about as raw and real as you get. I want to see an American Idol write and play their own songs, and have them be this rich and layered.

  • PS...to say Lucinda is an awesome songwriter simply is not good enough. Her singing eminates from a special place in her soul. The juice she must get from singing must be a natural morphine

  • I really love this dark melody. Melodically perfect........ Would like to hear this live in a small ft worth bar...signed drunken angel

  • The guitar player with Glasses on.. and the blue guitar.. now plays for Marty Stuart? I like him.. what is his name?

  • Really enjoy these videos. I remember making a vhs of this concert when it was originally broadcast on cable. I am not sure but Tivo had not even been invented yet. There were a lot of great artists who did Austin City. It was a cool format, laid-back but totally professional, clean. For a lot of folks I think they never really heard of Lucinda Williams when this video was made, and this is an excellent example of her work. She seems very focus on what she is doing here.

  • If you fix the spelling of WILLIAMS, people such as me can more easily find this video. As it is, it's lost to searches by Lucinda's name.

  • my sis did this song...awesome harms that night

  • this is Drunkel angel !

  • anddddd @tomturntx ~ if you're really in tx we should have a drink. i'll abstain from the word hell. or damn, if that suits you better.

  • yeahhhhh let's all write about how smart we are instead of saying that you're probably all on here because you are drunk and think lucinda fucking OWNS.

  • wow, a blowhard, the term used when criticism goes from a weak mind to writing too much... nothing "strong minded" came to mind but you still wanted to look cool on youtube

  • wow, mundane music, not surprised, it is not only the sign of a more commercial cognizance regarding musical concepts but as well as the sign of an impussiant ear

    and not to mention...

wow, insulting a somewhat arbitrary person in slander-spreading manners to make yourself look "scholarly", the sign of an exaggerated self opinion and perhaps a hollow terrain in your civil quarrels.

  • Um. It's IMPUISSIANT. Dork.

  • danke

  • Maggie May!!

  • Whos this about again?

  • Blaze Foley, an Austin musician.

  • A-town makes my heart cry.......

  • Fab, what an artist.x

  • ... Love to hear her sing and equally love her own inimitable style. Great vid!!

    ~F~

  • fuck eric johnson really ripped this place apart!

  • LOVE LUCINDA! One of a kind!!!

  • sorry, this SONG is Drunken Angel....typo

  • This son is called Drunken Angel!

  • For Blaze ... miss you man.

  • that guitarist to her left is sick on the axe!

  • That's John Jackson.

  • this is real country baby i love lucinda

  • regardless, they're all peers here!, wonderful stuff here!..

  • Lauderdale makes one hell of a sideman, no? I know he did some singing on Car Wheels, but I think he's filling a Buddy Miller part on this.

  • Light as popcorn compared to her original band.

  • man she looks sexy behind that box ..

  • Happy Birthday:)

    ibirthdayworld.blogspot

  • Lucinda sounds great as usual, and I like the Dark Hair as opposed to the Blonde Look.

  • I admire Jim Lauderdale for sure...

  • Really the kind..., absoulatly

  • wow! this is really good

  • She is the wind beneath my wings. I thought I'd need some inspiration to get thru another funeral.

  • The best band ever assembled in my drunken and humble opinion, only to let it loose on other cuts [ well, with the exception of the Band].

  • she's just to awesome

  • i miss u ellen

  • Lauderdale!

  • great song, RIP Blaze

  • Lucinda is the best damn songwriter around - and the girl can sing.

  • She is the best songwriter (if not including Tom Waits)

  • @jenkinspond let's not get carried away, Townes, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, ringin' any bells for ya?

  • I love Lucinda WIlliams' music. I love this song. It's got to be about Gram Parsons. Whose music I love.

  • The song's about Blaze Foley.

  • No hay que dejar que se vaya... tiene razón! Mil besos para fandebergman

  • Maravillosa canción. Saludos a Darkleen.

  • As much as I love her voice and stripped down writing the essential shit here is the band she has put together in the service of the same.

  • She's cool. Here she reminds me, oddly, of Joan Jett. Tough like that, you know?

  • Also there's the effective use of eyeliner.

  • Totally!

  • Car Wheels on a Gravel Road is one of the greatest recordings of all time by the premier female songwriter of our times.

    Lucinda Rocks

  • Amen

  • Great post!!!

    Thanks

  • Thanks for posting! Have her Cds but it's nice to see the live performances 5/5

    Lucinda Rocks :)

  • Buy the DVD,its great!Lucinda ROCKS!Austin City Limits.

  • best song ever.

  • IMHO... best band she's ever had.

  • Lucinda rocks, does anyone have vids from her first album- 'happy woman blues'?

  • I recently discovered the existence of this immense talent. Lucinda Williams. Where have you been all my life! Thanks for this, rspaceball. You did a fine job posting it.

  • Have you been in lock-up for the last ten years? How could you not have heard of Lucinda Williams?

  • I don't know, but it's better late than never.

  • shame on me too...but now im damn high!

  • awesome song!

  • sexy! drunkans angalz...hiccups..

  • i saw this live with elvis costello in red bank you jealous f-ers on my b-day too

  • Definately about Blaze....."A derelict in your duct tape shoes" and "Blood spilled out from the hole in your heart"...fantastic song from a fantastic artist

  • Drunken Angel is one of my favorite Lucinda songs..well and every single other song she sings. I'd love to see a video up here with "Blue" on it.

  • I've seen 2-3 performances where she's mentioned it's about Foley, which she probably does b/c most people don't know of him, and....because there is so much guessing about the subject. First couple listens and I thought Townes Van Zandt, but musicians know lots of other musicians, many of whom are characters and more than a little f'ed up, many of whom will always remain obscure, regardless of the quality of their music.

  • you're right. it's about Foley. strange how musicians know about each other..it was the same with great late Rainer Ptacek...he was a genius too, but sadly underrated. But all important musicians knew about him.

  • who's Foley? and is the Van Zandt person from Lynyrd Skynyrd?

  • Blaze Foley, Austin singer songwriter, friend of Townes van Zandt (not the Lynerd Skynerd guy)

  • @mcombs32 get to TX and we'll educate you about all that, and boy you need help.

  • @probinson1337 You are rude. Enjoy the music. Teach others what you know. I was born and raised in Austin, TX!

  • Whom ever it's about...it's a great song!!

  • the song is a tribute to late Blaze Foley. Listen closely to the song and you'll know it isn't about Westerberg

  • LOVE her voice, and LOVE this image

  • Yeah, what a great tribute to Blaze Foley. Excellent that everybody posting here is completely aware that this is a tribute to Blaze Foley. Yeah, everybody.

  • I love LW ...Jim Lauderdale is very good....Mike Stinsons House in Hollywood....30 CL bullets perfectly placed upside down draining for the reward. Willie ,Dylan and Jerry big on the walls...you could record there.

  • Flat? I think she sounds amazing.

  • Recent interview on WXRT(Chicago) Lucinda spoke of her Replacements / Paul Westerberg admiration.

  • so who is this song about? Townes or Westerberg?

  • Actually, I believe it's about Townes Van Zandt

  • paul from the replacements???? i don't think this great song is about him

  • Wonderful song about Paul Westerberg.

  • I find this song a remarkably creative tribute to Blaze Foley, a true Austin legend.

  • I love Lucinda Williams, and this song is one of my favorites, but this performance is flat and not very inspiriing. Maybe she was tired...

  • I agree - this has a phoned-in feel to it. Hope she's better when I go see her next week

  • Good voice, guitar playingand great songwriting, but I thought her perfomance had no emotion.

  • Doug Pettibone and Lucinda may be getting married soon.

  • WRONG. Lu and Pettibone are not getting married.

  • i love her, but does she sound flat here?

  • Why'd you let go of your guitar

Why'd you ever let it go that far?

  • man, she rules. doug pettibone= great also

  • Brilliant. Can't wait to see her on her U.K. tour.

  • Drunken Angel

  • samokin... i remember high fivin at the turning point sweet thing...

  • A true talent. One of the best singer/songwriters around.

  • This is song writing and story telling at it's best. Lucinda is the real deal.

  • LUCINDA is AMAZING!!!!

  • SHE IS THE BEST

  • Superb...from her sublime CD "Car Wheels On a Gravel Road"...

  • great songwriter also!

  • great performance.

She is most talented of USA music scene.
