I would buy one if, you could make the head able to hold the focusing tube in place, make it were you can adjust it by turning it, like... on a maglight. Then I would buy, I don't have tools the fabricate anymore, so the focus tube would bug the crap out of me.

What was the average lifespan for one of these lasers? Personally I never built on using KipKay's method or any variation of. I prefered to build my lasers using Deadels Driver from the lp forums. I have a tutorial on blogger that I am sure many people have built their lasers using. I desperatly want a Blue laser pointer. Ive got plenty of blurays from ebay and most burn although they are sold as 5mw lasers.

It comes with a Sony SLD1236 diode rated at 180mW max. It is installed in a standard Aixiz 12mm housing. The diode package is the standard 5.6mm. Hope this helps.

I am in the process of making one, I need the soldering iron I am using a dvd burner diode, I am not sure if it is 16x or not :| I am using a minimag so I I weld to long pins on the diode and put it in the flashlight replacing the bulb will it work?

180mW is what I run it at. The diode is rated at 250mW max. More than enough power to pop a balloon, burn thru electrical tape, all the cool tricks you've probably already seen on here. Glad you like it, and I take Paypal...
