The producers of Smallville screwed up...yes we all know according to the "story" Clark ends up with Lois...but he should have ended up with Lana. Epic failure on the part of the producers. I am sure a lot of people stopped watching Smallville after knowing they would not be together.

At times it was a bit depressing with all the pain they were going through but they made an interesting couple so you can compare it to the relationship that he would have with Lois. Lois and Lana one was a girl who was always driven to be something more, the other who became driven because of situations around her. Ultimately for me Clark ends up with the girl he was always meant to be with and always will. Even he knows that

They should have killed Lana I think. I prefer Clana, don't get me wrong, but this didn't give her full closer. If they killed her off, he could still love her, but it wouldn't be wrong for him to move on and be with Lois. The way they did Clois was waaaaayyyy too fast. @jicssgr4h it wouldn't have worked in the long run in terms of the smallville script, it also made sense to stick with the comic storyline and have Clois instead of Clana. Besides I'm sure the actress playing Lana had other work going at the time this season was made; she wouldn't have been able to juggle the work (lol)

It was after all, a pretty - indulgent? - show, meaning anyone could die then come back to life or fall in and out of love or get taken over by someone else's soul and turn evil. There was also a bunch of Star Wars Episode 3 type of writing where the dialogue and story was so rushed and melodramatic that you actually felt bad that the actors didn't have better writers to help them out a little.
@MrRyguy92 NOT that "Smalleville" wasn't gripping - it had me hooked, and I understand that comic books can often be fantastic and melodramatic with resurrections and corny lines all over the place and still be good, it just doesn't work as well objectively for a TV Series.

In the real story he fell in love with Lois, and in truth, she fits him so much better than lana. Clark and Lana always had this tortured love, but with Lois it's just easy. She does this because she doesn't want to lose control of the power like she did when Clark's powers transferred to her. Then she comes back, I forgot why though. Anyway they find out that the suit absorbs kyrptonite, so she can't get close to Clark anymore.

It wouldn't be the same without clana. I'm upset with the producers for trying to keep the mythos alive with the whole clois bs :/

anyone said, why Clark loved Lois at the beginning 8th season... why? Smallville wanted the authors end after 8th and definitely otherwise than we could see...
maybe they would say bye and Clark could begin work at DP... Smallville isn't about Superman, but about Clark's adolescence... and about first love... Lana is better choice for Clark ;-)

@gromo104 You're right about Smallville isn't about Superman, and Lana is better choice for Clark, but otherwise Lois is alternative choice for Clark after Lana's gone. Smallville storyline is associated with love, that's why authors made thier decision for another love story for Clark.

@myszolable I was a clark and lana fan for a long time, but this show was about how Clark Kent became Superman. In the real story he fell in love with Lois, and in truth, she fits him so much better than lana. Clark and Lana always had this tortured love, but with Lois it's just easy. You might have already known that, so sorry if you did. =)

Don't get me wrong i loved Lana and Clark together but she was starting to get on ma nerves a bit because she left and Clark started to get close to Lois and then she walked back into his life again, but because you no the story that its Clark and Lois together it annoys you when they spent 8 years building up a relationship between Lana and Clark when you no it ain't going anywhere

@jacqulineparker She fakes her death in season 7, she captured by what I assune was Lex's guys. she gets away, changes her appearance and seeks a trainer to help her weild the powers of a superpowered suit that is grafted over your skin. She does this because she doesn't want to lose control of the power like she did when Clark's powers transferred to her. Then she comes back, I forgot why though. Anyway they find out that the suit absorbs kyrptonite, so she can't get close to Clark anymore.

@jacqulineparker well she came back because she knew about Lex's scheme against Clark and wore the power suit he wanted to wear to get rid of Clark, and instead she changed it into a weapon to fight for GOOD next to CLARK! of course, they both didnt think of the consequences, they wanted to help the world and be with each other, but Lex had many other plans against them, and he didnt reveal tha tthe suit absorbs Kryptonite, so he made an ultimate test 4 them, to be w each other or save the world
