The only reason people believe in Christianity is because they don't want to burn in eternal hell. That's it. Nothing more. Christian beliefs and actions may work when they are done in purely humanitarian spirit. But there is always the pressure to convert. There are Christians changing the laws over everyone. I can't tell you not to get an abortion, but I can tell you that a fetus is a baby. Its not like we're not alive in the womb and suddenly come to life when our mothers give birth to us. Babies move in the womb. They eat, sleep, kick, and LIVE in the womb. They are alive. They are human. Like I said before, I can't tell you not to get an abortion, but just know that fetuses are alive. And there are many couples who can't have children who would LOVE to adopt an unwanted child.
I remember seeing Ron Luce speak on the last and final time I went to Creationfest in summer of 2005. I can't describe to anyone how heartbreaking the entire experience was for me, wanting to be close to God in community with everyone and yet at the same time being bombarded by all the homophobic rants and anti-gay messages and sermons which have sprung up in the past decade. I went to Aquire the Fire once, and was (looking back) put into a state of shock. Here I see friends (at the time) partying like its a rock concert, but not even caring about the message. I know this because I went to two of these conferences when I was younger. He's a complete con man.
I've been to 4 of these events, and I'm sorry you saw it that way, but that's not what it is. He does not manipulate, and what he teaches is NOT opinion. "Brainwashed" Not exactly. I'd be more worried about teens these days who feel it necessary to cut, drink, and have to be a size 0, according to the world.
Oi...I can see both sides of this arguement. I used to be big into the whole BattleCry thing and I have to say that it left me high and dry. It can be a big, huge, emotional high, and it's great there at the time, but Christianity isn't one big high. When you get too much into this stuff, it can become the basis of your faith, and then when life slows down, it's like, "where do I go from here?"

Yeah, our youth group has discovered the major nose-dive after the events. The events get you pumped, but the point of it is for you to remain strong and not stray back to your old ways after the weekend is over. This is Satan's place to try and rip you away. I've had it happen. Where you're wondering, "Was that even a REAL experience?"
My advice: Don't linger on what happened at the events for too long. Establish that strong relationship with God, by yourself.

Ron Luce/Battlecry doesnt want to take ppl's freedom away, they as christians want America/World to live the "right" way. The "right" way is living by the bible God's word. I remember seeing Ron Luce speak on the last and final time I went to Creationfest in summer of 2005. I can't describe to anyone how heartbreaking the entire experience was for me, wanting to be close to God in community with everyone and yet at the same time being bombarded by all the homophobic rants and anti-gay messages and sermons which have sprung up in the past decade. I'm gay. I'm also a pastor's son. And it's people like Ron Luce that made me decide to stop going to church.

People need to stop blaming pop culture for what they call the downfall of younger generations. Shitty parenting is the main factor, not pop culture. If a kid shoots up his school, people are quick to point the finger at music or video games. The kid shooting up the school already had deep psychological problems before the video games or music. I enjoy playing violent games, listening to metal, and watching violent movies. It's all entertainment though, and none of it influences my behavior.

That being said - if these 'free choices' don't live up to God's standards & receive Jesus for the redemption of sin these people face an eternity in hell which is not a wise choice.

However, as Christians we need to understand that not everyone wants salvation. Jesus told us to not hide our gift, but if in the course of sharing that gift, someone refuses to believe; then that is their choice and we must respect that. GOD blessed ALL of us with Choice and who are we to stifle that gift?

I was at two battlecry events, both in san francisco, we were met with much hatred. i understand many people despise christianity, but do christians not have the same rights as everyone else? to rally and protest? Just as those who hold views opposing christianity have the right to rally, we do. its not that we attack the people who believe certain things -although many christians attack and i apologize- we are against what they believe in. the enemy is whats behind it all, not fellow americans.

Fuck Ron Luce. These rallies are far from kind. They're fucking manipulative. He forces his opinions into the minds of young people by manipulating they're vulnerable emotional state at that age and uses threatening imagery of war and battles and fear tactics to condition kids to be completely fucked up and brainwashed and have no sense of logic or reason. I know this because I went to two of these conferences when I was younger. He's a complete con man.

I've been to 4 of these events, and I'm sorry you saw it that way, but that's not what it is. He does not manipulate, and what he teaches is NOT opinion. He sticks to the Bible and what it says, and does not stray from it. That's basically what the events are, learning how to take an active stance to bring Christianity back into our nation. "Brainwashed" Not exactly. I'd be more worried about teens these days who feel it necessary to cut, drink, and have to be a size 0, according to the world.

Oi...I can see both sides of this arguement. I used to be big into the whole BattleCry thing and I have to say that it left me high and dry. It can be a big, huge, emotional high, and it's great there at the time, but Christianity isn't one big high. When you get too much into this stuff, it can become the basis of your faith, and then when life slows down, it's like, "where do I go from here?"
But at the same time, I do appreciate how Luce and BattleCry make a stand for Christian values.

Yeah, our youth group has discovered the major nose-dive after the events. The events get you pumped, but the point of it is for you to remain strong and not stray back to your old ways after the weekend is over. This is Satan's place to try and rip you away. I've had it happen. Where you're wondering, "Was that even a REAL experience?"
My advice: Don't linger on what happened at the events for too long. Establish that strong relationship with God, by yourself.

Battlecry itself can not overshadow anything...it is just an event / title. People have done marvelous work I agree with you there and I dont think that luce is tryin to dimenish that. Personally the Joy of the lord is what makes me happy...I do need him in my life...God has done to much for me not to love and believe in him.....back to the whole media thing....Media does play a major role in teenager's life...whether good or bad...children are also affected.
