  • His first solo album "North of a miracle" is one of my all time fave albums :-)

  • Wow, Abbey Road! The Beatles was there & Nick Heyward too,I really want to go to UK and I'll be want to go to the Abbey Road, Nick is great between greatest!!!

  • The Beatles ehco through out this song and that is a good thing. I enjoy the upbeat feel on a song with a sad title. Nice.

  • takes me back, lovely song,so compfy and warm,

  • i saw him on bands reunited a couple of years ago with justin collins or whatever his name is, i did not believe it was him, he was fat as hell, he must have been on the buns.

Still great in his time and brings back happy memories.

  • looks like Brad Pitt

  • Hiya Wriggles! Fancy seeing you here..

  • what happened to haircut 100 after the early 80s???

  • @missmarypickford it's sort of a long story

  • Hello Gideon!

  • Gorgeous Nick!

Brings back so many happy memories

  • amazing to watch this again. when i was sixteen and nick was in Haircut I was the spitting image of him ND LETS JUST SAY didnt have a problem attracting girls

  • Top man who has given me some brilliant memories with his music,a myspace friend too!!!

  • Yummy!!!!

  • "80's pop idol" is perhaps the best way to describe him, he really is a bit of a legend to all of us of 'a certain age' because of his work over those few short years.... just great, great stuff to listen to & view again also.

  • @Ben4810 Agreed. I turn 41 this July - I was 13 for the heyday of Haircut 100. Still some of my favorite music.

  • Kinda "louise" theme with the narrow boat...

  • did he disown you?

  • His first solo album is a masterpiece...Such a talent...not like the crap music that exists nowadays...

  • so true Mr Heyward is a genius

  • @borealico -played north of a miracle for the first time in years-wow what a gorgeous lp-but still love this song the most-have played a 100 times over..

  • Nick was my hero when I was 18...He was Mr Cool for me...

  • This Song

Blue Hat For A Blue Day

    By Nick Heyward

Is A Good Song To Listen Too And All Radio Stations Should Play This Song Now I Do Liked Hearing This Song

  • It's all about his divorce in the 80's

  • He is sooo gorgeous!

  • i knoooooow isn't he just !!!!!!! : )

  • "Yes, yes, yes!"

  • : ) hee hee

  • Love it x

  • I loved this song. Takes me back to very happy times. A very underated songwriter who never quite got the acclaim he deserved when he went solo.

  • Amazing track! Nick Heyward never really took off in the USA, 'cept for a couple of minor hits. Either way, KFOG in San Francisco used to play this once in a while, when they were "cool" and tuned into "cool" stuff from across the pond. Love the accordian and add it to the list of pop songs featuring this great sound. Others are "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by the Beach Boys, and "How Can I Be Sure" by the Rascals. An amazing instrument to hear on the radio while driving in the car! LOVE IT!

  • use to listen to this driving round cardiff in my littile mg midget with the roof down thought was cool. man 40 now wish i could go back. thy where the best times and the girls wow remember boob tubes

  • takes me back to my first love .thank for posting vid.

  • GREAT SONG

  • wonderful singer & song

  • Anyone got the chords to this?

  • Nothing as good as this for years. Great song.

  • This guy was at the top for years and with great songs like this one he should still be there............

  • Great, great song and highly underated songwriter. I swear to god, K.D Lang plagiarised this for "Constant Craving" right down to the Glockenspiel and Accordian.

  • i totally agree they sound the same

  • heheh I'm glad it's not just me!

  • Ah Nick Heyward, my first pop star crush! :)

  • He was mine too, still remember all the words to his songs

  • Wot a cutie xxx

  • He looks like Mister Rogers

  • AWESOME - sadly they dont make them like this anymore....rewind to 1982!!

  • ひゃー、うれしすぎます!

  • ahh classic

  • great!

  • The first album of Nick Heyward should have sold as many items as the first one of ABC. Maybe it came 2 years too late. But it is a great record with fine arrangements.

  • what happened to all the clean cut singers in this world great song

  • Anyone got "Club boy at sea" by Nick Heyward?...a great song from the North of a Miracle album.

  • I think its time to dig out my old album of his.

  • dam I LUV this song

  • the bass playing is just damn grooovy

  • I'm glad another musician gets the bass groove in this song it is so laid back and sutile{sp}subtle .Sorry about the spelling but you know what I know you know.Easy pace bass in the right place.

  • does he have kids

  • 2 kids

  • yeah,very good comment,ive loved his music since i was a kid

  • why is a music genius like Nick Hayward so underated? crazy..

  • lovely, this song was great at the time and still is...but so sad he had too few hits.

  • One of the most underated song writers of the 80's.

    This song is just wonderful.

Oh... the 80's........ if only i had a time machine.....*sigh*

  • Great song, great album, North Of A Miracle where every track was great! Remember those days?

  • north of a miracle, still a great album after all these years

  • always ready to talk to fans in the street... no edge to this great guy just superb singing all the time

  • You can always count on this guy for a good song. 80's classic. Music like this is never around anymore. Clean and melodic.

  • great! that album north of a miracle was a work of utter genius. jazz influenced kick of love wonderful. pictures on gate fold sleeve of foreign lands seemed so glamorous to a teenager looking out at a dreary midlands sky.

  • Saw him two weeks ago and he sang this and its still as great now !

  • Absolute Classic! I played his album to death in the days when you could before CDs came along! Brilliant!!

  • A truly amazing music video

  • It's so sad the way he walks off at the end... :o( Brilliant video!!!

  • I forgot about this - fantastic song. I must find his album...its around somewhere.

  • His first 2 CDs got rereleased a few years ago with 6 bonus tracks on each, North Of A Miracle has the single Laura on it and Postcards From Home has the 12 inch versions of Love All Day, and Warning Sign, perfect for all Nick Fans, I got North of Amazon for £5 inc postage off a amazon seller and Postcards of Ebay for £5.49 inc postage, 2 of the best CDs of the 80s along with his 3rd CD I love You Avenue, which I got for £3.99 of ebay inc postage cool

  • I luv this song

  • Nik Heywards best song! Great riff, just so easy to listen to.

  • Whats that supposed to mean? I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together, get it? I bet nick knows what i mean

  • I think he means that London is owned by the British now, not only the English

  • London was owned by the English back then.Great song x x x

  • Nostalgic video of an era when London was a free city and one could walk around without being spied on by CCTV, confronted by notices telling you what you can't do and have busybodies in hi-vi vests all over the place acting like they are Gods agents telling you where you could and could not go.

  • gathering sticks on sunday makes my everything in between.................

  • Does anyone have " on a Sunday" PLEASE !!!

  • Someone post on a Sunday

  • Pop doesn't get much better than this, Has anyone invented that time machine yet? I wanna go back

  • Nick, you da man. Another pop gem from a masterful album.

  • This song gets me through my bad days

  • i am now 40 and i saw them in concects back when i was a teenager went to most of their conserts they should make a come back my 17 year old twins like the music

  • thanks for sharing this with us, wonderful, so many memories.

  • Wow I loved this,, and he was so cute.

  • great song thanks for posting

  • love this. makes me feel better about london for some strange reason.

  • The bass playing on this record is exceptional and was one of Pino Palladinos first recognized studio efforts. Geoff Emerick the Beatles sound engineer produced this album along with Mr. Heyward

  • I am currently listening to Nick's "from monday to sunday" in my rotation. Loving it and appreciating it's overall melodic pop flow...CUS IT'S STILL AS GOOD AS ANYTHING OUT THERE in the genre. Pure and simple, indeed.

  • I just love this whole album ( I still call them that!) Do you have "Whistle Down the Wind"? That was my very favorite! Thanks for your posts!

  • Good song. Thanks for sharing it. Does anyone have 'On a Sunday'? I think the video is better.

  • Doesn't sound as good as my memory of it! Bit lacklustre, but nice song.

  • Is he really 45 now!! i think i wore the video tape that had this and other videos of his on!! rewind..freeze frame..swoon!! ha ha

  • great stuff, brings back a few memories. thanx for sharing

  • I've had a crush on Nick since I was in high school. He still looks fab now, even at 45!

  • Timeless classic. Some of the best session players of the day contributed to this and the rest of the brilliant 'North of a Miracle'. It was Nick's songwriting that made it special though. He hasn't lost the knack, check out his myspace page and you can hear some of his new material.

  • His stuff in the late 90's was good too. Try "The Apple Bed"

  • I was SO in love with Nick in the 80's, I just had the biggest crush EVER! I was lucky enough to meet him him a couple of years ago and he was absolutely lovely, so sweet! Still bloody fit as well, oh and his singing wasn't bad either!!!! ;-) Corrrrrrr!!!

  • Where is Nick these days?We need singers like Nick to show the under 20's what music is:pure;simple, and appealing to the ear and to the heart! Please Nick, come back?

  • 1st time I ever seen this video. I have it on DVD but I never have time for myself-PATHETIC huh?? Thanks 2 U I got to see it. I LOVE NH and Haircut 100 <3

  • Pino Palladino played bass on this album and a fretless one at that.

  • a great pop song, Nick Heyward is a pretty good song writer who has matured very well, Blue Hat is probaly my favourite of his early solo work, but it's there newer stuff where he's really come into his own. I agree though, talent doesnt seem to count nowadays with such great talents as Heyward, Roddy Frame and Edwyn Collins all being overlooked by the music buying public!

  • Like it says in the right hand top corner: songs that the 80's forgot? Add this to that: artists that the world forgot! Talent doesn't seem to count nowadays...

  • Great! But has anyone got his performance on Top of the Pops?

  • Yep, this is easily Nick Heywards best solo song. I remember seeing this video awhile back but completely forgot about it. Im 16 and yes his music is very good. Ive made a home version of 'Fantastic Day' by Haircut 100. Now i should make a home video of this song. All i need is a camcorder, a suitcase, that style, his haircut, a bridge, a guitar, and good miming technique!
