He's alternating picking from the G to the high E string and he's shifting atleast between 8 notes in that one solo, live he does something easier, but look at how he's moving, not only does that take skill but it takes balls doing that with that much reverb and delay, any little mistake you make can be heard.

Matt is an awesome guitarist but yeah it's definitely out of tune. Maybe it's no ones fault it could have just gone out from playing during the first 2 minutes of the song or something. It's his G string I think. It depends how he plays the solo.

Matt uses the same effect on every single hysteria solo and they all sound alike. In this one his guitar was out of tune, which is his technician's fault. Anything else?

Although I'm crazy about his skills, I think it's more the show he puts on and how different of a guitarist he is. All in all i'd have to say that David Gilmour is a better guitarist and has the smoothest lines and superb singing, but sometimes he looks like a bit of a sad sop up on stage because he's so static. When it comes to music there's always controversy because it varies greatly.
@trogjim Freddie Mercury can play the piano. He also, (in my opinion) has the greatest singing voice in history. Since John Frusciante is my favorite guitarist, I was glad to see him take #1 as the best guitarist in the past 30 years. Bellamy came in 3rd I believe. Of course there were other guitarists who could've been placed higher, but everyone has their own opinion. Bellamy wins points for writing amazing songs though!

First of all, Matt's music is unique, but only because every musician's music is unique. Music is personal, individual. Under your reasoning, someone who can write and play music like me, a failure of a guitarist is a musical genius. Also, Matt's guitar lines are nothing to be proud of. They're easy to play - that's why he can jump around like a lunatic. Not only that, Matt makes HEAPS of mistakes, he admits it in interviews. So yes, Matt's awesome. Through charisma. Not guitar.
Firstly yes most musicians are unique and yes it is down to personal preference, but you are not a musical genius as playing guitar like Matt is pretty simple (usually) but writing music as good as his is a different matter, and if you're a 'failure' as you put it, you obviously are not as good as Matt who had succeeded on his songs
Also i know the majority of things he plays are simple but nothing is when throwing your guitar around, and he doesn't make heaps of mistakes live

I know i'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this but 1st of all im a huuuge muse fan and matt is my main guitar inispiration so you know i'm not trolling but the people who are saying muse is easy to play are right...this solo only takes about 5-10 minutes to learn (you guitarists out there know its true) and so do most muse riffs so although matt is good at the guitar he isn't amazing

@muziqspumpin i think what the first comment you replied to meant he plays differently to everyone else... he has so much energy and jumps about doing crazy slides while playing some intense stuff... Not many guitarists move much apart from the odd headbang and so on... and not many play while doing such intense free movement, like spinning around in cicles and, as shown in this video, throwing the guitar about without putting a finger wrong... you see :)

@muziqspumpin to be fair, they're all in about the same ballpark as matt, but its people like Petrucci, Satch, Kerry King, that can really run rings around him. No offence to matt, I think he's amazing, and Muse are my favourite band, but they're not necessarily the best musicians in the universe.

How can this be a great solo. It's easy, even a unexperienced player like me can play it. Calling him the so called best guitarist of now a days is a MASSIVE overstatement. Look up Rusty cooley or Paul gilbert. When you listen to them you will never look at Matt Bellamy and say is the best of now a days because the people I just mentioned Literally rape the fuck out of him. Bellamy is not the fastest, most proficient or most technical guitarist. But he has unbelievable feel around his Manson guitars and he's the best rock COMPOSER in the last decade easily. He's basically this generation's Jimmy Page.

@iLLUSiiONS111 People saying that Matt Bellamy is the 2nd best guitarist in the world is obviously a big fan. Although I'm crazy about his skills, I think it's more the show he puts on and how different of a guitarist he is. All in all i'd have to say that David Gilmour is a better guitarist and has the smoothest lines and superb singing, but sometimes he looks like a bit of a sad sop up on stage because he's so static. When it comes to music there's always controversy because it varies greatly.

@trogjim Freddie Mercury can play the piano. He also, (in my opinion) has the greatest singing voice in history. Since John Frusciante is my favorite guitarist, I was glad to see him take #1 as the best guitarist in the past 30 years. Bellamy came in 3rd I believe. Of course there were other guitarists who could've been placed higher, but everyone has their own opinion. Bellamy wins points for writing amazing songs though!

@xxmarkasusxx James Dean Bradfield from the Manic Street Preachers is probably a better musician in my opinon. DOn't get me wrong I have all Muse albums I like them, but Bellamy's singing voice gets annoying after a while. Bradfield on the other hand is a great singer, songwriter and guitarist!

First of all, Matt's music is unique, but only because every musician's music is unique. Music is personal, individual. Under your reasoning, someone who can write and play music like me, a failure of a guitarist is a musical genius. Also, Matt's guitar lines are nothing to be proud of. They're easy to play - that's why he can jump around like a lunatic. Not only that, Matt makes HEAPS of mistakes, he admits it in interviews. So yes, Matt's awesome. Through charisma. Not guitar.

Firstly yes most musicians are unique and yes it is down to personal preference, but you are not a musical genius as playing guitar like Matt is pretty simple (usually) but writing music as good as his is a different matter, and if you're a 'failure' as you put it, you obviously are not as good as Matt who had succeeded on his songs
Also i know the majority of things he plays are simple but nothing is when throwing your guitar around, and he doesn't make heaps of mistakes live
