  • Yes, the world was very different in the eighties years, nobody appears talking on cell phone or connected to a computer... :)

  • @ptt2008 i love how you say that, yet your using a computer to troll people that arent from the eighties

  • @ptt2008 Or texting while walking/driving

  • @ptt2008 Sorry to disapoint you. But there is a scene where Demi Moore appears at her job in front of one, one of the first PCs!! She is with a cigarette on her hand too. ;-)

  • @ptt2008 Sorry to disapoint you. But there is a scene where Demi Moore appears at her job in front of one, one of the first PCs!! She is with a cigarette on her hand too. ;-). On the other hand, you are perfectly RIGHT!

  • @ptt2008 we had cells and computers in the 80's cells were HUGE and carried in bags like a video camera trs-80 radio shack computers commodore pets. vic-20s and c-64 atari came out with a few personal computers we used what were called bulletin boards back then, chat and some games NOT every one had them no, Cell phones were not hundreds of dollars but thousands and very limited, most were used in cars by the rich but your right NOT every one had them and wasn't a daily thing like today

  • 0:59 : Smoking at the office?...Could that be possible in the 80's?

It´s obvious that the lady is not working at home, but in an office.

Try to do the same thing nowadays, and you will be fired!!

  • One of David Foster's masterpieces.

  • i would log off my computer and choke if i were watching myself on it now but thats just me

  • if you cant ride a horse then dont have a horse- and btw have a nice brunch

  • There's a certain magic the 80's had ... that has never been duplicated since.

  • judd nelson <3

  • 2:32 : Is that a Chrysler's New Yorker?

  • @kalispera64 It's a 1983-85 LeBaron K-car convertible.

  • @R36Coach

    Oh,thanks for the info,so I was confused!!

  • this movie really captures so well that transition from school to adulthood ,you spend so much time trying to fit in ,but it's worth it in the end.

  • Gives me goose bumps everytime I hear it, Never get tired of listening to it.

  • If this music doesn't touch your heart, you haven't got one.

  • 2 people are complete morons and need to dive head first off that bridge @ :10 this song is beautiful. is it me or does playing chariots of fire after this song make it an awesome playlist combo. I've always played that song after this one

  • @captainamerica1967us do you know what ever happened to her?

  • I would like to see all these actors come together again for one movie.

  • This song has long been my favorite. I cherish this song. Yeah, that makes me weird. Whatever. I love this movie. When it's rainy and gloomy out I pop this in the DVD play, curl up with a blanket and a glass of wine and I'm enthralled. I do miss the movies of the 80's they were so great.

  • i miss the 80's

  • 呵~安蒂麥道威爾好像都沒啥變柳~

  • So fun to watch; the friendships, love, infatuation, betrayal, heartbreak, addiction, conflict and tenderness. Wish everyone came through in one piece, you were a good looking group back then. Reminds me of Perryville, Arkie!

    Len

  • best instrumental of all time. Jon Foster is a beast!!!

  • @Bacio83 Agreed.Loved this theme the first time I heard it and still do.Great movie as well, one of my favorites of the 80s.I graduated "Class of 85".

  • Her name is Helen. She attended the Beaver County campus of Penn State University in fall 1985, when I was a freshman there. I never knew her year of college, her major or anything. Nothing but saying 'hi' to each other in the hallways. But this song makes me think of her, and it always will.

  • @captainamerica1967us Thanks for sharing that, I feel better now, wonder where she is today, maybe with a songwriter?

    Len

  • this song is great love that movie:) im 11 and i really love the 80s and everything about it the music the movies the fashion ect. i really wish i could have lived in the 80s that was my time:(

  • I love this tune very much. It's so 80s-ish, it hurts.

  • Comment removed

  • @kalispera64 they never explained it in the movie, but i think it means like an inside joke between their group...that's what i take from it...

  • I was 12 in 1985 and remembering having bought this movie sound track on tape, from Tower Records..:)

  • great video this is what i want my kids to do go to college, have good friends , and live life....cool movie and great theme thanks ptt2008!

  • thumbs up for david foster.

  • Movies and music in the 80's - all great

  • 2 people don't remember the good times in the 80s!

  • Holy 80's flashback Batman!

  • I was around as a teenager in the 80's it was the best music

  • This song describes my friends and I .. One day after all the partying, late nights out ,

the great times, the bad times, the seven or eight of us being out all hours, little internal skirmishes , we always stayed together through it all and one day we all split up, grew up and it was all gone , but the bitter sweet memories this is dedicated to my brat pack they were special and I miss them

  • @kevieization you said it perfectly.

  • Respond to this video... something beautiful about the 80s

  • I've heard so much bad reviews about this film, that I actually feel curious about seeing it...The instrumental song is quite nice though...

  • ohhhhhhhhhhh loved this film and this song, so wish i was back in the 80s

  • Oh my.. such great memories with this movie.. one o fthe first few movies I wacthed when I went to further my studies in the USA in 1985!!! I was 18 from Malaysia!

At that point of time I really wanted to be like them!!

How I wish I could turn back time...!

  • @sirahum; so bloody right mate. Another place, another time, another life.

  • i so wish my life was an 80's movie ♥

  • @yehhohkx33 ...there is a little village in kent england called "staplehhurst", if you wanna live in a place that closley resembles an 80's "i love you but i hate you" movie, then that is the place to live, i have the village tagged as "dawsons creek" in my sat nav....go there and live a life of teenage melodrama, no matter what your age..people living there in their 60's are full of teenage angst....

  • I wish i oculd have been born in 1964 so i oculd be in my teens and 20's in the 80's so i could shag rob lowe...FUCK MY LIFE!

  • 0:00 to 0:04: What does that mean in the American culture?...What do the guys say?

At the end of the film, seconds before the ending credits and the main theme appear, the characters finish their dialogue with the same thing.

  • @kalispera64 It's more of a college or friendship thing like a secret handshake or and inside joke a bonding thing.

  • @NewWaveFan1

Thanks a lot for your answer,NewWaveFan1!!

    Now I understand you,it's like a showing of joy,or something like that,am I right?

I mean, the guys show their joy, because they are in agree for doing something.

When I watched the film, was the very first time I heard that..

Do young college guys use that way to show their joy, nowadays?

    Greetings from Mexico!!

  • @kalispera64 yeah it's that. A lot of guys in college that are in fraternities or close friends do it to show bonding or a common relation. Yeah it's confusing but a lot of people do it when no one is looking because it is usually embarrasing in public. haha.

  • @NewWaveFan1

Embarrasing by doing it in public?...I don't really see anything wrong because they do it like this!!

I mean,if youth has a very special way to show its joy, there is nothing wrong on it,while they don't offend the others with curse words,or other way.

All of us were young sometime, and had our own special way to show our joy,and we never offended anybody.

I know that times have changed a lot,and respect has been losing lately, but it all depends on people.

  • @kalispera64 This kind of half dance is called in Spain (Europe) a "conga" and it is inmmensely popular in parties, after football matches and the like.

  • I was born when this came out, but I got to see it a few years later several times. I just remember really liking the music, that I started to play it on the piano.

  • The genius of David Foster - apparent on many Chicago albums and in his solo work like this great song.

  • Love this piece of music, I'm getting married in 9 weeks and am going to walk done the isle to it. Its just perfect.

  • @pidge37 you get married yet?

  • @pidge37 Congrats to you. Good song choice!

  • i love the 80s

  • @pabonilla73 Yes the eighties were great. Originality. Simply the best.

  • ... it's about friendship ... and passion ...

  • R.I.P Clarence Clemons. He was the Big Man.

  • Something about this song gives me the chills, the good chills... lol Gotta love this song.

  • why do we have to grow up

  • Love this film and this track and of course Ally Sheedy, she was my favorite character.

  • things were so much more simple back then.

  • My husband and I danced to this song at our wedding reception. I wanted to have it playing when I walked down the aisle. Still wish I had done that!

  • Edge of Glory by lady gaga brought me here!

  • My wife walked down the aisle to this song. Perfect.....

  • The 80's is the business! I wasn't really of age then, but St. Elmo's' is my Fav movie of all time. So sweet, and they don't make those types of movies anymore.Sad.

  • reminds me of an "R-rated" Friends or How I Met Your Mother! Very nice song/video.

  • @TheBrevo -

I would never compare this movie to "how i met your mother"-no offense. But the character of Demi Moore was a a real friend I had who lost her battle to demons and drugs. This is way more contemplative than a gay guy trying to act straight.

  • @gravelandgrain100

I meant no disrespect but the movie is about people living life after college as is How I met your Mother and friends. That's all I'm saying. I'm sorry to hear about your friend and I apologize for offending you.

  • @TheBrevo -

no apology needed-you are alright by me:)

It's just music like this reminds me of those days, when all my friends were together and things were so simpler. Then out of nowhere we all were gone, your good by me.

  • God I miss the 80s. LOL

  • I don't go to the movie theatres no more it's been some 10 years since I last went. In the 80's you could see great films with solid casts with SUPERB scores and music ........ made for a mystifying experience in the theatres and I was a kid in 1985!!! Always digged this brilliant timeless masterpiece!!!

  • i have a friend in china and i wish i could send her this video because she has the cutest face ever!

  • good love song!

  • God! I love this movie, I can watch it again and again, like many reminds of my post college years, party all night and still make to work the next day, how did we did that, thanks, this is good stuff!!!

  • *~♥~*‏ Yes, I agree with CRUE95023 --- Movies today are horrible =0) This was my wedding song -- as we were announced -- I LOVE this theme song -- *~♥~*‏

  • i was born in 90's era, never seen this movie before but i'd like to watch it.i think this is a great movie.

  • This tracks the best thing about the movie. Most of the characters were nasty and pretentious and the individual story lines weren't that strong but a great cast and acting and a fantastic mood /Cinematography and great music make up for it. It's no Breakfast Club but worth a look 6/10.

  • i was 24 in 1985. i remember the movie, the song, the time. it was great!

  • @MrDan6670 Happy 50th! ;) i know its a lil late but i added up the numbers 24 and 26 and got 50 ;)

  • @cabanaboi29 THANKS! YEP BIG 5-0 ......IT STILL SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY!

  • My mum fancied Andrew McCarthy. Probably still does.

  • goosebumps

  • Beautiful. My boyfriend played this on the piano for me,it brought tears to my eyes.He played it with such passion & feeling.Something I will remember always..

  • @amatiel8 I'm a piano player too & the girl that runs this club I play at wants me to learn the theme song from this movie & that's why I'm listening to this song. I've heard of this movie but I never saw it in the 80's. I was too into R 'n' R back then but yes this is a great tune. The 80's was an exciting time because I was in my 20's.

  • @WINGGULLSEAGULL The eighties was an exciting time,so much good music emergerged in the eighties.I was a huge fan of glam metal.Anything eighties really.Awesome time:-)

  • Lovee =)

  • They used to have this theme on a radio station in the UK when i was a kid in the 1990s, for a lovers and song dedication section called the peaceful hour from midnight to 1am. Use to laugh at the sentiments,(I was a kid, and kids do that), loved the music they played and this theme though.

  • David Foster at his best! I first saw this movie back in the late 80's and quite honestly I didn't think the movie was that good but this would have to be one of the best movie soundtracks/instrumentals of all time, the two sax solos just blow me away every time I hear this great track!

Thank you ptt2008 for the upload.

  • LOVE > fear

  • NOPE NOPE NOPE !

  • Music from the 80's is the best. I dare any one of you to argue with that.

  • I'm 13 and I love 80's music and movies. Me and my friends were talking and we all said we were born in the 8o's instead(:

  • @MadiTheWriter Yes, the world was very different in the eighties years, nobody appears talking on cell phone or connected to a computer.... :)

  • watched this because i kinda liked breakfast club, By that I mean it was funny as hell seeing all the 80 nonsense and fake drama and this movie was like witnessing a million abortions a truly punishing visual disgrace

  • the fire did not lead them to.............THE SONG!! no more neutral is Katie B..........in the birdies and the baby bumblebees.............so sure make it the bears and the puppies..........float away in sailing away on THE BEST DAY THAT WILL EVER BE FROM GOD YOU WILL SEE!!!!!! earthquake #3!!! I said I said earthquake #3!!!

  • No one wants to put the fire out!

  • Bacio83......I couldn't have said it better myself!!! I wish for the 1980's again.........long live the those times!!!!!!

  • My all time favorite instrumental track of any genre! Such a beautiful introspective song that seems to always allow me to dwell on all the wonderful and loving times in my life and just start crying out of nowhere. How many songs without poetry or words can make people do that???

  • pure fucking 80's instrumental gold next to Chariots of Fire very debatable to some people which is best I love them both but this is my #1 favorite all the way

  • Thumbs up if Kevin Drew brought you here :]

  • the way my life is now i wish i was back there i am crying listening to this

  • I LOVEE THIS MOVIEE <33 LOVE THE SONG<333

  • one of my favorite songs regardless of genre because it makes you feel that real love matters and it is the most beautiful thing in the world. Old skol songs used to make you feel you and your loved one could conquer the world. I feel sorry for today's generation that has to hide their feeling in a veneer of toughness , sex and sass instead of tenderness

  • Man, I miss the 80's.

  • @kachinababe MAN I WISH I WAS ALIVE IN DA 80'S I LOVE THE BRAT PACK.. PUT MY FAV IS RALPH MACCHIO PLEASEEE SOOMEONE INVENT A TIME MACHINE PLEASE

  • When I was younger, I had a really hard time understadning this movie. I re-discovered this movie after I gradudated from college. It's truly amazing how I (and so many others) can relate to this movie, and to truly understand what the characters are truly going though at this point in their lives! This movie is so true to life right out of college!! St. Elmo's Fire is one of favorites now!

  • Am I the only one who had his heart squeezed and then gently put back into this chest due to this movie?

  • I think I hate how much I love this movie

  • One of my fave childhood movies a classic........Real friends will go through everything together and in the end will still be together

  • No other movie brings me back to the 80's faster than St. Elmos Fire. What fun we had.....

  • no other movie brings back to the 80's faster than St. Elmos Fire. What fun we had.....

  • Coolest scene is when Emilio kisses Andie McDowell...that's life, right there....

  • "We had it all, just for a moment" Words from the song, if you can find them....most people don't even know there was a version with lyrics....
