He was'nt the star of "Stardust" David Essex was......
and yes he was Cousin Kevin in Tommy......and yes thats how guys danced back then......and yes thats the norn to look camp, gay, all of the above......this song was also classed as one of Top of the pops worse songs ever.........I wonder why..... :-p
@BritishDiva I think it's fair to say Paul Nicholas was one of the stars of the film Stardust, although it was Essex who was the main character, no debate.
but.,. Who makes up these best and worst song lists anyway? Probably some geek with thick specs working at a desk at the BBC music dept.
@mrjugger- In the seventies it was considered professional behaviour on stage to have the skills to sing and dance. Mr. Nicholas is a very popular actor and he's a pro.
Paul , was great in a lot of the videos you see him singing live , very rare in this day and age , he moves so well too.I had all his records , his album was and is brilliant, I was 20 when this song came out and I looked a lot like Paul , would love to have met him, ha ho, maybe one day.
Paul Nicholas is a *star* ! Guys are jealous of him because he's good looking and can get ladies by the dozen. He was terrific in the film "Stardust" -
Classic 70's "Bubblegum" teen idol stuff. What a riot I love it. The self-titled LP, that contains this song and Heaven on the 7th Floor, with the b&w portrait in the striped jacket, is still one of most gorgeous album covers ever made!
man, he should have done a joni mitchell song like tim curry...hey, now that i think about it, he and tim should've joined up to make a glam 70's duo...imagine that!
I have adored him since I was about 15 I am now 42 & have seen him in Pirates of Penzants in Bradford & Barnum in Blackpool(I dragged all the family for my dad's 60th birthday) even though it's 80 miles away & I was working until 4.30pm
YAY i went to see paul nicholas at the kings head for schwartz stories and i saw he stood at the bar i couldnt believe my luck he signed his autograph for me and one for my sister lovely man great show but was left wanting more of him i know...ive got it bad.
Hmmm. If that's true, then why did he not only publicly compliment the track the time it was out but also COVER it a few years later? It never made any of his albums but it can be gotten on bootleg.
I love Paul Nicholas thanks for the video its great and i just want to say emmmmm to Paul i must be you biggest fan i wish you were mine (hopefuly he may read this) XXX
If you like Paul you may like to know that he is appearing in Schwartz Stories at the Kings Head Theatre Islington, London from 7th Nov to 3rd Dec 2006. It only holds 100 people so its a great chance to see him up close and personal.
Wonderful!!!! if it wasn't for you i would never have known, its hardly advertised, i tryed to read about it but theres not much to read. Im hoping to go and see it fingers crossed, thanks again.
What a load of ol'Tosh.

Paul Nicholas is a solo singer, not a band. It's not his band with him in this clip. It's the Him and Us dance troupe from The Arrows Show.

Bob Marley must have watched this and thought, 'Shit, I'm gonna kill this town."
Still, Paul Nicholas turned into an all time hero the moment he decided to do 'Just Good Friends.' Top Chap.
