Russia has a colder climate than I'd like. The language is hard for a native English speaker to learn. It's likely to lurch between capatilism and communism. Due to many historians under Lenin in 1917-1921 it was the most forward-going country in the world (at least "in that time"). And also the most free in a lot of aspects. The centralisation after the 1921 a bit spoiled this and Stalin completely killed the free spirit. But I could also argue for the Gorbacevite USSR being far more free than the USA in the same time (however Gorbacevite USSR wasn't that much socialist how Leninist Bolshevik Russia/USSR was).

Rusia was a communist country but with the soviet or bolcheviquian version, Belarus (1991-now) had the same president, a communist even if the country is not considered a communist state, China was a communist country but now capitalist (still celebrating it though), Republic of Macedonia still have some communist qualitys in its government since it was before communist (when it was Yugoslavia), Cuba after revolution was a communist state, now a state in a communist dictatorship. I really enjoyed this song. You can feel the passion and pride. If I were Russian, I would be moved to tears. Anthems of any kind have a power far beyond the common song.
As an American I can still appreciate the power and beauty of this song and the ideals which it extols. I have it marked now in my favorites. I wish more people could appreciate beauty when they see, hear, or experience it.

Due to many historians under Lenin in 1917-1921 it was the most forward-going country in the world (at least "in that time"). And also the most free in a lot of aspects. The centralisation after the 1921 a bit spoiled this and Stalin completely killed the free spirit. But I could also argue for the Gorbacevite USSR being far more free than the USA in the same time (however Gorbacevite USSR wasn't that much socialist how Leninist Bolshevik Russia/USSR was).

Ugh. It's not "Through tempests the sunrays of cheered us". Why is that such a common mistake? The official English-language version of the anthem has that lyric as "Through tempests the sunrays of freedom have cheered us". Then it fits with the background music and it doesn't look weird.
