I've heard no cars are allowed on the island, is that true?

Yes that is true ! during the summer season no cars are allowed. You can asked to be put on a long waiting list of cars that can drive on the island off season and police and fire do have cars. Many people have golf carts that they use all year round.

Do people use bikecars alot there?

Whats a bike car ? they tend to walk most places and do ride bikes between towns.

I'm sorry, a bikecar is a four-wheeled bicycle that looks like a car; but pedals like a bike. If you look up velomobile in youtube, you'll see really fast, pedal-powered 'car-like' vehicles that have 3 wheels and are very sleek. I imagine 'bicycles' of these sorts would be very popular in a car-restricted place such as Fire Island I'll send you some velomobile vids. Have a great night!

I see - I have never seen one on fireisland - people ride in golf carts , ride bikes, and use hand wagons.
