@MrGrateful1000 ya i own two emperor's and they literally cuddle together. everytime i pull em out there laying on top of each other. so they are friendly but be careful because you must feed them correctly so no cannibalism happens and you also want to watch for any fights or anything.. (happens rarely for me) but when it does i will separate them. also you need a big enough cage with more hides so they because they love em! i have a 30 gallon. hope this helps :)
I plan on buying this kind of Scorpion I have a 20 ga becuz I have a bearded dragon now he lives in a 40 ga but anyways is mulch from a pet store that they use for snakes ok? And also do I need to buy a humidifier? And how do I do the heating and that stuff? One last thing what do I do eating?
@awscoleh i own 2 emperor's and a 20 gallon would be fine for a single one(bigger would make him happier) also make sure you have a bunch of hides and dark places. you could use a humidifier but its not needed. I use a water bottle and mist the thing multiple times a day and i keep up humidity because it help there molting process(makes them look cooler). and they love crickets and meal worms
For one scorpion, you dont want that big a terrarium. They dont like to travel far from their hiding spot and arent much in moving a lot, like tarantulas. I personally would love to give mine as big an area to move around but 2 arachnids experts told me to keep em smaller ._. so I listened
Eco Earth substrate is what I use. It's like $6 and you put it into a bucket of water (drain the excess) and it makes enough to easily cover a 20 Ga enclosure. Give them a couple good hides, more if you're keeping multiple scorpions. If you choose to use a heating pad, only put it on one side, that way the scorpion has the choice to move if it's too warm. If you really want to watch them eat, use the night vision mode on a camera. They're nocturnal hunters and shelter during the day
@Warhammerdude1 sand isn't good for emperor scorpions because it doesn't hold humidity well. They live in the tropical parts of Africa so Eco Earth is your best bet. If you want a scorpion that can be kept on sand, get a giant desert hairy scorpion. Hope this helps!
I don't think you would need up to a 15-20 gallon...a 5-10 gallon is good enough, scorpions don't need tall tanks, they can't climb out or anything. I just keep mine in a 5 gallon tank that's the same size around as this one except it's just not as tall.
those clay balls are called hydroton they use them in hydroponic systems(like indoor plant growing). i know because my brother in law owns a hydroponic store so he has them everywhere lol
I coinsidently just recently stumbled on similar info regarding hydroton and as you mentioned, the use of the hydrophonic growing system is absollutely fascinating! Aparently people have been able to grow some nice Cephalotus Follicularis using this method, check our flytrap care.com from more info :). That's so cool your brother owns a Hydrophonic store wow! Get some hydroton off him! Incredibly usefull in natural terrarium setups! :)
@Reptiliatus yah i have the exo terra 36 inch by 24 inch terrarium. that i was going to use for waxy monkey frogs but instead i used it for a carnivourous plant eco system. i have all sorts of pitchers and flytraps and stuf its pretty cool. i made a back ground with kitty litter and peat moss and mixed it together with water and i form it how i want and when it dries it is ROCK hard its really cool. i made a background with a bunch of pots formed into it, its pretty cool=) ill post a vid soon
@cmanblck45 Hi there, you can get coconut husk/fiber at pretty much any pet store that carries reptile supplies. It is mostly sold in a compacted brick form that you place in a certain amount of water where it will expand and you can then use it. Sphagnum can be hard to find but the best place to look is at a good nursery that also specialises in indoor plants because people often use it for ochids and bromeliads, etc. If you don't find any the best thing to do is order it online Hope this helps
Looks good, but some times bigger isn't better. If the enclosure is too big, the scorpion will have a hard time catching her food. The average tank should be about 15 gallon, 20 is pushing it a little.
You should have also mentioned that the scorpions need to have an average temperature of approx 78-88 degrees F (different people will say different temperatures, I found this to be the average), as well as a small, shallow water dish =]
Your Emp looks nice and chunky, good job! And I think it's great you mentioned care videos aren't substitutions for research. I dislike when people think they can view a video and purchase an animal.
I appreciate you saying this because as my channe; has gotten more popular I find more people say stuff like "Great now I'm ready to buy_", no that's not good enough! :P Thanks! ttyl, btw how'd exams go? Enjoying semester 2 so far? :) Dayyan

the clay rocks are called Hydroton in gardening use. Not sure if they have a different name when it comes to reptile/pet use.

Can I feed my (future- still learning*) Emperor Scorpion superworms instead of, say, crickets and mealworms? If so how many do I feed and how often?

It would be better if there where. A higher drainage layer is better, as I mentioned in the video.
