  • Yes this is Joe Raposo's music. November 15,1982 this comes on ss along with Little House on the Prairie The Return of Nellie.

  • 12 March 1979 this came on SS along with little house on the paririe Mortal Mission.

  • Filmed at the Banas hamburger bun factory.

  • This was my Dad's student film, which CTW purchased from him. I used to see it on Sesame Street in the 80's. He was so touched to see it posted here and to read all of these nice comments.

  • I remember this one as a child and am happy to see it again!

  • The music is the best! They used it for all kinds of films. If your gonna have music that won't die it might as well be great music!

  • This is awesome!! I wanted to work in a factory as a child all because of Sesame Street!

  • The clip I always think of that compares closely to this one is the chewing gum maker. I *desperately* want to see that one again. 'Look, over there, he's getting ready to make chewing gum . . .!'

  • Yes, I would like to see that one on YouTube as well! My most memorable line from that clip is 'Don't swallow it!' ('it' being the gum).

  • This made me soooo hungry!!!!

Love the hamburger bun conveyer belt at 1:12.............bun freeway!!

  • Whenever I feel down, I watch this clip for an instant lift - is that not the happiest wee tune you've ever heard? And there's something so comical about the sight of all those buns at the end that never fails to make me smile!

  • Nice memory - I think I remember the dough being spun around at the beginning and might have been mildly scared, but as the film progressed I thought 'Ah, THAT'S what they're doing!'

  • hamburger bun highway there at the end

  • ok...for you food buffs...Hot Dogs and Hamburgs are origionally for Germany well, name wise that is. Hamburg-Hamburg Germany and Hot Dog which is really a frankfurter-Frankfurt,Germany

  • Has anyone thought of why we call a hamburger a hamburger? Think of it, ham, It is made with beef not ham, Yet we call it hamburger. why?

  • Because it was invented in Hamburg, Germany.

  • I must have seen every episode from 1969 to 1977, and I don't remember seeing this one until the fall of 1977.

  • Other than McDonalds, Burger King and Wendy's, makes you wonder where you'd find the Krusty Krab on Spongebob Squarepants.

  • Thousads of them !

  • wattamack 4, Is this really from 1973 ?

  • Yes.

  • @ghostchantxx Buns film was made in 1971 by me, as a student at Art Center College of Design, LA. Tom Bammel

  • I made this film in 1971 while a student at Art Center College of Design in LA. original It was longer with only sounds of the machines. CTW purchased it from me, edited it and added the music and kids. Made in the Freund Bakery (McDonalds) in Industry CA. Tom Bammel.

  • There's no hotdoggsburg.

  • WOW ! This is very old. Is this from like 1973 or something ?

  • I wonder if the CTW Archives in the Ampex Building in New York City still has a beta film of this in their archives

  • Yes

  • First it looked like eggs but at the 35 second mark it looked like cookies.

  • There you go it is JR.

  • Very intresting! So, thats how hambuger buns are made huh? Wow! :)

  • interesting I didnt know that thanx.

  • a saxophone at the end then a kid voiceover ''I know what they are they're hamburger buns''

  • Ever thought of why we call a hamburger a hamburger? Think about it it's made with beef, not ham at all.

  • I guess it's because it's better than saying "Beefburger" lol.

  • Because it was invented in Hamburg, Germany. Like the frankfurter was invented in Frankfurt, Germany.

  • The hot dog was invented in Hottdogsburg, Germany.

  • it's the early working of the show on the Discovery channel...how it's made

  • Cool, I remember this. And it has to be Joe Raposo, it's his style of music, and he even sneaked in a kazoo.

    ~Ra'akone

  • Classic! Thanks for sharing it

  • It would of been nice if they showed how they made the dough.

  • Whoa! Slow that mixer down, speedy! (at the beginning of the film) You're flinging dough all over the plant. [snickering]

  • Lol.

  • I suppose that's what the fling guard on the top of the mixer is for; to keep the strings of dough from being flung way up to the ceiling.

  • Yeah but there's already a ton of dough on the floor!

  • Uh, I think the dough was thrown out of the mixer and into a trough to bring it to the next chapter of its journey.

  • Wow, fantastic clip! Thanks so much for uploading it. :)

  • You're welcome.

  • Now if only the clip of how Chinese noodles are made is uploaded, my Sesame Street memories will be complete! Thanks for the great video!

  • Yeah, we need the Chinese Noodles film.

  • Sorry,don't have that one.

  • Have you by chance seen the gum factory anywhere? When they mix up the hot syrup, put it in a wrapper, and so forth . . . Thanks for this one, too!

  • Judging by the music in this film, I bet Joe Raposo wrote this music.

  • Damn, it's clips like these that made me wish the nearest Burger King were closer. Four stars!
