yep I watch hockey alot and have watched Ovie alot. Ive watched him stradle the blue line while Sidney Crosby works his ass off...... Matter of opinion what greatness is but being the best finisher in the NHL doesnt make you the best player in my eyes. I would take sid over ovie any day of the week because he makes everyone around him good and can do it himself if he has to. You can base a real strategy around that instead of trying to feed one guy, which the playoffs should of shown you.
Sid just stands in front of the crease and gets a lot of goals on a silver platter. He has nowhere NEAR the slap shot or outside shooting skills of Ovechkin. He also is nowhere near as fast on skates AND he can't hit as hard. To top that off, Ovechkin had more goals the last two seasons and was MVP while having less depth on his team. Sid has Malkin.
Ovie has Semin, Backstrom, Fedorov, Green and Kozlov. Crosby has Malkin, yes, but as being centermen, they play rarely together. So I think it's time to stop whining about how Ovie has nobody to play with. Don't get me wrong, I love Ovie as a player and his personality is simply awesome, and he's in my opinion most important player to hockey.

Still a penalty. No matter what if you leave your feet to make a hit its a penalty. Its like when a player accidentally gets the stick in the face trying to lift their stick and missing. Even if it wasn't meant to injure its still a penalty.

While Malkin has more points at this stage of the season, Ovechkin leads the league in goals once again. I like Malkin and I think he is great. But he is a step below Ovechkin. Sid just stands in front of the crease and gets a lot of goals on a silver platter. He has nowhere NEAR the slap shot or outside shooting skills of Ovechkin. He also is nowhere near as fast on skates AND he can't hit as hard. To top that off, Ovechkin had more goals the last two seasons and was MVP while having less depth on his team. Sid has Malkin.

Ovie has Semin, Backstrom, Fedorov, Green and Kozlov. Crosby has Malkin, yes, but as being centermen, they play rarely together. So I think it's time to stop whining about how Ovie has nobody to play with. Don't get me wrong, I love Ovie as a player and his personality is simply awesome, and he's in my opinion most important player to hockey.

Okay. First Alexander Ovechkin is a god. He can pass he can shoot he can score he can hit. He really does make Washington better. There is no doubt that he should be considered MVP. As for you people who say Malkin or Crosby sucks you are stupid. Crosby may not hit but he can score and pass. How can you say he is bad when he finishes in top d in points since he has been in the league. Also Malkin is so young and he is great so shut up about them both

if ovechkin wins mvp he will be the worst mvp in a long time. he deserves every award he can get to do with goal scoring and entertainment. but mvp? the dude plays no defense and takes many more shots then anybody else in the league, i mean hell anybody can score like he does if they shot that much. if you want to see an mvp, watch evgeni malkin.

Still a penalty. No matter what if you leave your feet to make a hit its a penalty. Its like when a player accidentally gets the stick in the face trying to lift their stick and missing. Even if it wasn't meant to injure its still a penalty.

haha definitely not true. only when its an intentional usually only called when its against the boards. and its not even an enforced rule anymore. youre allowed to leave your feet if your gonna get hit. cuz then its winds up in a discussion weather the player was trying to avoid the hit and thats not something that you can review its an opinionated call.

No sense in arguing with someone who doesn't have a clue. Clearly you haven't read the rules. I, both as an NHL fan and someone who plays hockey, have been through the rulebook a couple times and know from experience. Diving is an opinionated call and yet it is still against the rules.

youre not getting the point. i play hockey as well and at a higher level than you im sure. doesnt make me any more intelligent about the game. people leave their feet when their about to get hit all the time. usually they are the ones who fall back. so its not gonna be a call just cuz ovie ran the other guy over. this happens in many collisions and there is never a call.

Pieking is right. Just cause a player cruises into your path does not mean you can fly off your feet and smash the guy, which is exactly what happens here. Ovy left his feet before the collision. Ref's hand goes UP...
Still, Ovy is the MAN here in DC!! The rink used to be half-empty three seasons ago. Now it's packed with roaring RED.

Malkin is awesome, but Ovie has the perfect combination of SPEED, POWER, FINESSE and INTENSITY. I'm not even a Caps fan, but seriously, how many other players can you name who are that well-rounded? Malkin lacks some of Ovechkin's intensity and power. Care to retort?

Hey Timmy, Malkin is a great player no doubt. However, he is not the same type of player that Ovechkin is. While Malkin has more points at this stage of the season, Ovechkin leads the league in goals once again. I like Malkin and I think he is great. But he is a step below Ovechkin. As for Crosby he is the biggest pussy in the league, no doubt.
