The difference is that in Latvia, not really in Poland, and Estonia the fascists are mostly anti-Russian, including anti-ethnic Russians born in Latvia and Estonia - of which there are many and were many before WW1 as Latvia was created on Imperial Russian soil. Something the fascists conveniently forget when calling them invaders.

When USSR invaded the Baltic countries in 1940, it wasn't to liberate them from Fascism, but to "liberate" its workers from Borgiouse Capitalism and establish communist state. In 1940 the USSR and Germany were allies and had both signed a non-aggression pact, the Molitov-Ribbentrop pact. It appears that Russia wants to rewrite history and say it was never fighting capitalism, but fighting fascism. Balts are both blamed for fighting Soviet aggression and not fighting it enough!

Estonia was not a nazi state. Estonia had full freedom of religion to all Catholics, Protestants, Jehovah Witnesses, Jews. Estonia had established in 1924 a law recognizing the cultural autonomy of minorities. The minimum number to be considered a minority recognized for cultural autonomy was set at 3000 specifically to include Estonia's smallest minority of just barely over 3000 Jews. Have to agree though, "The Soviet Story" was way too subjective on the subject to watch, so I didn't. My Grandfather fought this Nazi side in World war two, and then went to partisans. No one ever denied Baltic participation in the Bolshevik Revolution: the Red Latvian Riflemen led Jukums Vacietis, Jaan Anvelt of Estonia, all of whom were murdered by Stalin. @Ebildays: The Waffen-SS had no conscripts, it was 100% voluntary. Baltic SS "conscripts" were men who'd been assisting the Holocaust, and wanted to form pro-Nazi army to fight the Red Army and Partisans. Nazis rejected this and gave them SS uniforms instead. They then became the Forest Brothers. It's becoming more common now for European conservatives to whitewash the crimes of their Nazi collaborators.

When USSR invaded the Baltic countries in 1940, it wasn't to liberate them from Fascism, but to "liberate" its workers from Borgiouse Capitalism and establish communist state. In 1940 the USSR and Germany were allies and had both signed a non-aggression pact, the Molitov-Ribbentrop pact. It appears that Russia wants to rewrite history and say it was never fighting capitalism, but fighting fascism. Balts are both blamed for fighting Soviet aggression and not fighting it enough!

Estonia was not a nazi state. Estonia had full freedom of religion to all Catholics, Protestants, Jehovah Witnesses, Jews. Estonia had established in 1924 a law recognizing the cultural autonomy of minorities. The minimum number to be considered a minority recognized for cultural autonomy was set at 3000 specifically to include Estonia's smallest minority of just barely over 3000 Jews. Estonia was a liberal foward looking demoracy which enjoyed a standard of living higher than Finland.

@oxonboy your only problem is ignorance. In Europe the biggest fear is Nazism, since you experienced it. In Latvia we experienced communism, death camps in Siberia and russification of our country. For 50years we were 2nd class citizens in our own country. If you don't understand these facts then your judgment is fatally flawed. Learn a bit of our history or simply imagine that USA did not come to your aid, before passing a judgment.

Yes,we were helped by free Polish and free French fighters but USA did not enter war until Dec 1941.

@oxonboy Using guerrilla warfare we fought Russian communist forces from 1944-1956 and those people (around 20,000) were waiting for some help from UK and other western powers that never arrived, because your leaders had signed Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact and Balstics were given to Russia. Learn a bit of your own history...
