I live in Massachusetts where gay marriage has been legal for a few years now. Get this: the world didn't end, the sky didn't fall, no straight marriage has seen any negative effects whatsoever. AND we have the lowest divorce rate in the country.

Simple response - denying rights to one group, while allowing the same rights to another group, IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Can't you handle the Constitution?
Democracy isn't about taking away rights guaranteed under the US Constitution.
This is a VERY personal fight for me and I take serious offense to those who would write it off as no big deal. Prop 8 is a DIRECT THREAT to my personal security. The LGBT community is hardworking and determined to see this through, and, we will not fail.
Good luck but you have already lost. Marriage is not a right it is a legal contract and like all legal contracts it is defined by society. You want marriage rights how about giving you all the rights inherent in marriage in civil unions? That way gay people have spousal rights and we get to keep the moral definition of marriage?
And who's moral definition of marriage are we talking about here anyway? If we rule marriage a Christian right only, how do we handle Muslims, Pagans, and Buddhists? Should their marriage rights be taken away as well? Let Christians have the patent, copyright, and trademark on marriage, is that how this works?
This is SO SILLY. You don't get married simply because you're Christian, or heterosexual. And you dont get married so you can breed either. You get married because you want to seal the deal... secure your partnership... commit your lives to one another... its an expression of LOVE. Plus all the legal benefits too. Dont complicate the matter!
Most Muslims, Christians and Jews support proposition 8 so it is not just about one faith. It is not even about faith marriage in all societies has always been defined as one man and one woman.

Civil unions do not have all the same rights as marriage. Even if it did, which it absolutely does not, separate but equal is not equal. Religious people have forced this issue. They have violated civil rights and have now awakened a giant, not just gay people but all freedom loving people. Exactly, it affords MOST of the rights, NOT all. Therefore it is not equal. It's also clear to the law that they're not equal because straight couples who are 62 years or older can get either a marriage or a domestic partnership. This acknowledges that they're not equal. That argument doesn't work. Look at voting rights. We extended them to women and blacks, but it stopped there. It didn't further extend to children, to immigrants, or to goats and chickens. The same is true with marriage. Extend it to gay people. It won't extend to polygamy, to beastiality, or to any other strange thing you come up with. Why do you want to deny a minority group civil rights when they have no effect on your straight marriage? It's illogical and has nothing to do with you.

The banning of gay marriage violates the separation of church and state, equal protection under the laws, and due process. The 9th Amendment protects enumerated rights. Since the courts can find no compelling reason why gay marriage should be banned, it is a right. In other words, because something is not specified as a right doesn't mean it isn't a right. SCOTUS has ruled twice that marriage is a basic civil right, and rights are not arbitrary. Marriage is not mentioned in it at all.
