It uses Surroundsound not only the matrix mode. The matrix mode is for 2.1 based gamers or 2.1 music. If you put Matrixmode ON it will create a surroundsoudish effect by playing some tones out the back.

And the "other speakers" DO have a mouting bit!.

for people worrying about the cable lengths just buy some rca extension cables from best buy (they're really cheap) for a 6 foot cable which the ones that come with it are all ready 6 feet long so 12 feet is pretty good length

This system has a 'Matrix' mode switch on it, what it does is it converts 2.1 channel to 5.1. therefore it can be used with a laptop and be able to get 5.1 sound even if there is only one green colour jack attached!

as far as i know with most laptop, u can hook it up normally but u wont get 5.1, maybe only 2.1. u may need like an external sound card that allows 5.1 input

i have one and i just put some cord in my headphone jack of my laptop and it works just fine, watch movies and play games and everything., sounds just as if i put it on the tv or whatever...... but im inaustralia so it might b different

depends on your sound card, look it up and check compatitibility and check your video card to see if it supports 5.1 when you play games

do they come with a headphone jack like other speakers do. if they dont could you use an auxillary cable and plug that into the headphone jack and then you could use it fro your ipod or computer

You can but it requires 2 upgrades. First you need to be running windows using boot camp. Second you need to buy a usb sound card.(imac only has 1 audio jack).Most usb sound cards only run on windows.

A good idea would have been comparing them to the Z-5500 or X-540 5.1 systems.

its a bargain, thats what sony a good at, they sell moderate- high end product at good prices, im sure the receiver give in the system has an auto caliberation system, just like my sony receiver, if it does then ye its gonna be a kick ass system, 1 problem was the lack of midrange that the systme gave out, but it can be sorted it it has an equalizer.

The way you mount the front or rear sattalite speakers is you take off the little "panel" and switch it the other way. Screw drive it to the reverse way and take a tac and put it on the wall. Then just mount it up that way :).

yep, the G51 is the best cheap 5.1 system from Logitech. The only difference between it and the x530/540 is that it has more controls, more style and a stronger amp. The sub and dual drivers inside the satellites are exactly the same ones found in the x530/540. Nothing yet has beat the z680 or z5500 yet though
