Before you idiots insult us, think about what we have to go through. I live in Chch, and it isn't as easy to get over as you think. Sure Japan's quake was worse, but that doesn't mean it wasn't as scary. Japan are use to these quakes, while we aren't. You don't know what it's like. If you lived in Chch when the first 7.1 hit, you wouldn't be saying what you're saying now.

The cost keeps rising but most of the numbers are now in:

Prime Mininster Key stressed how significant the earthquakes had been to New Zealand's tiny economy, saying the cost was equivalent to 8 per cent of GDP.

"Damage from the 1995 Kobe earthquake in Japan was just over 2 per cent of Japan's GDP, Hurricane Katrina in 2005 cost about 1 per cent of US GDP, and March's Japanese earthquake and tsunami disaster was an estimated 3-5 per cent of Japan's GDP," he said.

All the people telling Chch to get over it... well lucky you to be ABLE to move on. We can't. Think of us next time you flush your toilet, visit your usual cafe, do your shopping without queuing for half an hour, drive your normal route, sit in your warm dry house with no holes in it, look at your street that hasn't changed beyond all recognition. And if you think Japan has moved on, well, you're not watching their TV.

Yes, it's not a competition about who had the most destruction and how many were killed, for heavens sake!

@68spaceman I don't really care what you think about how I express myself. I am sick sick sick sick and totally sick of hearing about Chch. Get over it. Move on. The rest of the world and NZ has moved on. Only the media and people like you, want to keep us all in a time capsule - grieving and getting depressed over something that people in Japan have suffered on a large bigger scale. Look elsewhere and see how little they complain. Chch and Nzers complain too much. Get over it. Move on!

I am sick of watching news reports about Christchrch. We hav had a gutsful. The world has moved on. There is a far greater earthquake going on in Japan, which the "whole world is watching" and unfortunately for hypochondriacs like the kind that fall out of the nz media, who are all over chch earthquake like "white on rice"...the rest of the world, ISN"T WATCHING> they have moved on. Time to move on and see that the world is full of far more distressing natural disasters other than chch.

@Chuckles123thefish The world may have moved on but the people of Christchurch continue to suffer. We need reminders of this. There is always the next catastrophe and so on. Chch is important to our economy as well. Fully 15% of our economic output has stopped because of the quakes. It will take time to rebuild that output. We as a nation must give ongoing support to Chch lest we all continue to suffer from the Great Recession 4 longer than we need to. Use the net to see different news if u want

@68spaceman Oh grief, you really need to stop being so obsessed with yourselves. japan had an eatrthquake thousands of time more portent, and we barely hear about it now. Chch was fortunate. 166 lives were lost but compared to Japan, there were few casualties. I cry for the people of Japan who are still homeless and hunting for their loves ones. I am sick of hearing about Chch. time to move on and start remembering that chch is not the only city that has had an eartquake. Enough already!!

What I am sick and tired of seeing on television, is this constant stream of Chch related news stories that have nothing to do with the rest of us. E.g. prostitutes having to move to the suburns, mariguana for the depressed of CHch, i mean, the list goes on. i am sick of hearing about CHCH. Get over it. @BecksT1984 I actually only come back to youtube because whenever people text me about my posts, they end up in my email box. So that is why I comment. I have only viewed the video on chch - once. I am not being horrible. I just see far more greater grief going on in Japan and other places rocked by earthquakes. Chile, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China - these places have all been rocked by massive earthquakes, and they are literally just a once second bit on the NZ TV news.

I live in New Zealand. I visited christchuch two weeks before the earthquake. I am a great fan of christchurch but...seriously. I am sick to death of hearing about christchurch this and christchurch that. They had an earthquake in China and Japan since that eartquake and i am sick f the media going on and on about it.
