the only cruisers i've ridden are the yamaha enticer and royal enfield bullet 350. so how much does it differ in ride quality with such high displacement cruisers?
@kyaw5800 I don't know. The only other cruiser I rode was a Honda Shadow 650. This one was considerably more powerful but I didn't push it very hard since it wasn't mine. It also felt much more solidly built.
I really liked it which surprised me since I'm accustomed to sport bikes.
The shifting is "clunky" because those are some big ol' manly gears! There is no guessing whether you switched gears on a Victory, you can hear and feel it shifting.
@T2003Cubs I've noticed most cruisers have a really solid thunk in the transmission. I kinda liked it. It made the shifter on my bike feel like I was going to brake it when I got back on it.
Victory is a good American company that makes a good American product. I own the Victory Highball and I love it. As far as the cramping is concerned putting a Lindby Multibar on it will give you a place to put your feet and stretch out your legs. The main thing I like about the Victory over the Harley is you actually feel like you're sitting in the bike, not on top of it. Harley's just don't feel comfortable to me....and that's just my opinion.
@T2003Cubs I think the cramping was just me not being used to sitting like that. If I rode it some more I'm sure I would get used to it. It was a really fun bike and I liked it a lot more than I thought possible. If I could justify it with the wife I would have brought it home with me. I already have too many toys though. Maybe later I'll get one.
Lol I remember the first time I scraped my pegs on my 2005 buell blast. I was doing like 50 around a 30 mph exit ramp and I leaned it so far my peg scrapped. The bike kinda wobbled a bit but I still had control. As long as your confident on the bike scraping shouldn't be to bad. I've already scrapped both my pegs and I've been riding for 3k miles. I'm buying a sport bike in spring probably a gixxer or zx6r.
Maybe if you learn how to ride then you would enjoy a great motorcycle. Why do you keep comparing a cruiser to a sport bike? All you are doing is complaining about the turns and your legs blah blah blah.....
@mrbluevictory Wow! I've never met a Victory poser before! What the fuck is wrong with you people? It's like you're looking for a reason to be pissed off.
I liked this bike a lot. I've even suggested that my uncle try one out because he's been wanting a cruiser.
Where do you see that I "KEEP comparing a cruiser to a sport bike"? Different bikes have different traits. I'm just talking about the differences. I even said later it handles really well. You act like I dogged the hell out of it.
@Sigrafix Its mostly insecure posers. I don't get it myself. Some people are just looking for a fight and they'll take it anywhere they can find it. I've never bashed Harleys and certainly not Victorys because I really liked that bike, A LOT! If I could have afforded to I would have brought it home right after the test ride.
@kryten Haha of course if you're used to riding something else you're going to have trouble adjusting to a completely different ride. Let people ride what they want and mrfaggotguy can go watch some other victory videos. Kryten I've just found out about you're videos and I like you're commentarys. Im going to subscribe :)
@XH1927 I thought the same thing but this one was actually not that bad. It wasn't really slow and it handled really well. It was heavy but the center of gravity was low so you don't really feel the weight. After 30 minutes of riding it I did start to feel uncomfortable though.
@kryten Heh, yeah, I was being a little mean, but I give you props for trying out the Victory. If I was anywhere near that market I would take them over HD for an "American" motorcycle, they at least try to be a little progressive. Though I think I would get Suzuki M109R before anything if I was cruiser bound... we've had one of those trailing our sportbike club and the bike performed impressively, keeping something resembling a pace through the twisties.
@XH1927 Yea I get that a lot of people don't like cruisers, but you would be surprised. I probably could ride twice as long as someone on a sport bike because of the riding position. But yea most of them are heavy (depending on the bike you get) they actually are extremely comfortable. The actually arent really slow, but if you compare it to a sportbike of course they are.
@blazingrobin12345 Like I said in my reply to Kryten, I was being deliberately mean spirited in my initial comment, but there is a legit difference in people. I really and truly am more comfortable sitting leaning slightly forward and with my feet behind me. Full on race-rep ergonomics wear on me same as any if I'm not riding aggressively, but for genuine all around comfort I am much happier on a sport-standard or sport tourer than I am on a cruiser or even a Gold Wing.
@ICBR2 LOL! I didn't say I was buying it. They had a demo day and I never pass up the opportunity to ride a bike that's not mine. There are too many other types of bikes that I want. A cruiser would be the last type of bike I would buy.
My HD Sportster weighs 485 kgs according to the plaque on it, 1067 lbs. But it feels lighter. I have seen the Victory, and it seems bigger ( heavier) than my little 883. My nephew had a 550 cc sport bike that felt very light in comparison, it sure makes a difference in how it is ridden and how it responds!
What do u think on the ninja 650 naked? I think it looks kinda like a cruiser and looks comfortable but less money then most cruisers and can do anything a sports bike can
@zamuriaz I've thought about the Versys which is basically a Ninja 650. If I got a cruiser I would want something low like a real cruiser to take my wife with me on rides. She doesn't like the seat being up so high like on the Ninja650/ER-6N/Versys.
Hey kryten how are you doing?. A while ago you were talking about trading your suzuki for another ride, and if may come with an advice i can higly recommend the bike im riding wich is a Honda CB1000R. Just seen that it is avalable in the US now you can check it out on my channel if you like. I´m very sad now because the winter is comming soon here and it´s time to end the season. The insurance here is between 1 of march till 1 of december. I guess you can ride all year were you live.
@reconstrucdead1 I was thinking of trading the GSXR when I thought something was wrong with it. It's fixed now and better than ever so I'm keeping it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I walked around in a harley dealer for about 10 minutes before i was out test riding a nightster. I thought it was pretty cool that they insist i take one for a test ride...i didn't even ask.
@heartlesspinto I've heard they offer test rides. I might go try one out at some point. I wish other dealers did the same. It sucks to buy a brand new bike and then find out you don't like it when there was another bike you overlooked that might have been a better fit right there at the same dealer.
@heartlesspinto I like the look and feel of the vrod. Instead of my GSXR I almost got a Night Rod Special. I was going to trade a car I had for it but the guy wanted way too much of the bike while low balling me for the car. My car was worth much more than his bike. Oh well. I love my GSXR so it worked out in the end.
@kryten Actually, for what you're getting you can find vrods pretty cheap. HD fans don't like the different styling, and the one with the 4 cylinder is like an abomination to the HD name to some of those guys.
@heartlesspinto At one time (long before the V-Rod), H-D was pursuing development of V-4 and even V-6 motorcycles... But they abandoned the project after investing tons of money and producing the tooling etc required to mass-produce the bikes.
@heartlesspinto HD fans abhor the V-Rod mostly because it's water-cooled which they (quite incorrectly) feel is somehow inferior to their air-/oil-cooled lump which is prone to overheat in traffic - so much so that the ECU will automatically cut spark to the rear cylinder... They give this operating mode the euphemism "Parade Mode."
@PaulMEdwards Only true for the twincam96. Not for twincam 103 because 103 does oil cooler/radiator.
Solution for twincam96 engine heating is stage1 tuning which is performance air filter+ aftermarket slipon or full exhaust system+ fuel mixture adjustment. Sure its also possible to add a radiator for the twincam96.
It was OK, but suffered from quality issues resulting in the motor & transmission grenading at only 10K miles. I believe this was due to a design flaw of using a plastic part in the transmission. H-D rebuilt it under warranty & extended the warranty another 5 years, but the bike felt like it was about to go boom again at 18K so I got rid of it.
For such an expensive bike, I expected better quality.
@heartlesspinto BTW, I did get it the 2007 H-D V-Rod up to 135 MPH indicated several times with a windshield and soft bags. Felt like it had more legs, but was limited by the 5-speed transmission. Really needs a 6-speed.
@heartlesspinto I had the chance to ride a 2010 V-Rod Muscle w/ABS as a loaner* and it was nice. Quality was definitely improved w/a smoother transmission & I could NOT get the brakes to lockup even when SLAMMING on them in the pouring rain.
*The 2007 V-Rod stranded me just after I picked it up from the shop due to the harmonic fuel sending unit misreporting the fuel level due to adhesive/sealant failure causing me to run out of gas - another design flaw.
@kryten It really does depend on the dealer... The HD dealer I bought 3 bikes from didn't let me test ride any of them and the multi-brand foreign bike dealership I bought my wife's Yamaha FZ6-R from only allowed you to test-ride the bike after you signed the purchase agreement, but claimed to have a no questions asked return policy... Sounded kind of shady. Fortunately the bike is perfect for my wife.
@drnicko18 I'm not sure what I want for a trans-american ride. I've looked at the Yamaha FJR but I kinda think its overkill. I'm thinking of maybe a Ninja 1000 or a Versys. I want something upright but still sporty and fun to ride.
I've also considered riding the TAT on my WR250R. Incase you haven't heard of it the TAT or Trans-American Trail is a mostly dirt trail from Tennessee all the way to the Pacific.
@kryten If I had the money for an RC8 hands down it would be my next bike. None of the dealerships around here will let you test ride anything. Even if you have a high enough credit limit.
I was pretty gung ho about cruisers till I I had a chance to drive a few... the Harley I rode was kind of the last hope and it was okay but it cost darn near 30 grand. Then of course we bought my wife's Hyosung 250 and I love that little thing... best cruiser I've ridden yet which is sad because it costs about 20,000 less than all of the others I've ridden.
How would you (anyone really) compare a Victory to a Harley? Don't know much about cruisers but I heard Harley's are just "1960's technology with a 2012 price" lol.
As much as i love cruisers/harleys, there is a custom bopper harley which is my all time favourite bike and that style of bike i cannot ride due to the way the handle. I suppose it takes time to get used to them but give me a sports bike or sports scooter and i can ride it forever (well except for when someone opens their car door on you.
@sabamacx Hmm. I hadn't thought of that. Great suggestion. The Diavel looks like a good compromise between a sport bike and a cruiser. I might have to take a look at one. Unfortunately the only Ducati dealer we have in my area closed about a year ago. I keep hearing that another dealer is coming or that one of the other dealerships will start selling them but so far that hasn't happened.
@JimNtexas I'm thinking of test riding a few Harley's just to compare them to the Victory. I really liked that bike. I don't see myself getting a cruiser any time soon but if my wife would go riding with me I would. I could also see myself getting one when I get a little older and just want to cruise around a bit. I didn't think I would like the Victory but by the end of my 40 minute test ride I was coming up with excuses to justify taking it home.
@kryten depends mostly of the exhaust. Even harleys are not so called "obnoxious" loud unless the exhaust has been modified. Now goto test ride a 2012 harleys like fat boy or fat bob or street glide. Im very sure that they surprise if you have some stupid prejudices to harleys like many f*ckin idiots do...
@Bikeman1087 I don't have a prejudice against Harley's. I have friends with Harley's and some of them sound really nice. Its the asshats that modify them to be as loud as possible and then sit at stop lights revving them that I think are obnoxious. I've seen people on Japanese cruisers do the same thing though.
What comes for the revving engine at stop lights, some people are dumb and the bike itself is irrelevant because even people on sport bikes do that. But sure you know it. What I have seen, most frequently people rev engines at stop lights ride enduro/sm bikes.
@kryten In my area theres a person with quad bike with very loud exhaust, more louder than most of loud piped harleys. It doesnt disturb me at all. Im one of those people who dont wake up so easily because of engine sounds. Personally Im so obsessed to engine sounds that to me engine sounds are mostly more like a natural environment sounds than very disturbing noise. But yea of end off topic. :)
@Bikeman1087 I like the sound of a nice engine but I don't like people that sit at stop lights revving the hell out of their bikes or cars to show off. Douchebags come in all varieties. Take any bike or sporty car and you'll eventually find a moron that owns one and shows off with it. They're usually the one that bought their car or bike for a status symbol and not because they genuinely like and appreciate it.
one of my coworkers has a kawasaki cruiser... i think its a vulcan or something like that. He asked me to switch bikes one of these days but the dude is pretty big and im afraid that him being used to slower turning and and upright-er riding position is gonna make him lose control on my bike... and now that I watched this video Im thinking... "HEEEEELLL NOO MAN!!!" . I was looking forward to testing his but I'd rather go to a dealer or test somebody else's bike.
@caguamassatanicas Its a totally different feeling. It took me a mile or two to feel comfortable on the Victory. Turning felt weird at first but after a few miles and a couple of turns I was fine. Going from a cruiser to a sport bike might be a bit weird though. If you want to try a cruiser try to find a nearby dealer doing a demo day.
If you're planning on riding cruisers, you might as well get used to a clunky transmission. They're all like that. Don't let the look of a cruiser fool you either; the seating position is the extreme opposite of a supersport motorcycle... they are uncomfortable as hell. I can't wait to get off of mine... love it, love the fact that its a 2000cc Vtwin, but it's just not what I'm looking for. Hello Yamaha Super tenere!
I honestly think a street fighter would fulfill all the needs for a motorcycle. They are plenty powerful, plenty sporty, upright seating position... I would just buy a CB 1000R and be done with motorcycle shopping. Well, unless I'm going to ride off road :P
Get a Honda CBR, those seats are amazingly comfortable. Remember, a cruiser is a lawnmower with pipes. I don't mind cruiser riders, a lot of my friends ride them. I just politely ask them to give me warning so I can take the baffle out of my exhaust. I can't stand that fucking rumble. I'd much rather WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMP WOOOOOOOMP!
thats exactly why i would never ride a harly or a cruiser, because there is no clearance when turning. I do turns on my bicycle faster then i do on my brothers goldwing.
A fedback on your camera, it sounds great and angle to point of wiev is perfect, no need to worry, everything is crisp clear and enjoyable. WELL now we got that sorted ,WHAT THE H... WAS YOU THINKING, crisers are more clonky and heavy cus they arent made for sporting , all tho i like them ,id rather build one out of a old jap like a good honda ,and you know you got a NICE ride .lightrer and more agile then a factory cruiser with more sporty feel to it,but i cant were i live ( SIGH).
@transdetendal I only test rode this bike because the local Victory dealer was having a demo day. I never pass up a chance to ride someone else's bike.
You really appreciate a sportbike after riding a cruiser, that's for sure. If you ride a cruiser for a while, you start to really miss the sportiness and the nimbleness. I know when I was riding my dad's Harley for a week, I was in heaven once I got back on a sport bike. :)
@ToastToGo I love my sport bike but honestly I was starting to like the Victory. Its a different tool for a different job. If I could talk my wife into riding with me I would probably get one just to cruise around on.
Victory is awesome my brother has one I have a harley roadking but I love that bike

for a cruiser, you just cant beat a harley!
TheBocephus89 3 months ago
I was pretty gung ho about cruisers till I I had a chance to drive a few... the Harley I rode was kind of the last hope and it was okay but it cost darn near 30 grand. Then of course we bought my wife's Hyosung 250 and I love that little thing... best cruiser I've ridden yet which is sad because it costs about 20,000 less than all of the others I've ridden.

"I can feel a nice little cramp in the top of my crotch" are you sure you're not enjoying it too much?
Chuckles85 3 months ago
@Chuckles85 It was a pain, not a stiffness! LOL!
kryten 3 months ago
How would you (anyone really) compare a Victory to a Harley? Don't know much about cruisers but I heard Harley's are just "1960's technology with a 2012 price" lol.
panterask8r14 3 months ago
As much as i love cruisers/harleys, there is a custom bopper harley which is my all time favourite bike and that style of bike i cannot ride due to the way the handle. I suppose it takes time to get used to them but give me a sports bike or sports scooter and i can ride it forever (well except for when someone opens their car door on you.

If you enjoyed that bike, try a Diavel!
sabamacx 3 months ago
@sabamacx Hmm. I hadn't thought of that. Great suggestion. The Diavel looks like a good compromise between a sport bike and a cruiser. I might have to take a look at one. Unfortunately the only Ducati dealer we have in my area closed about a year ago. I keep hearing that another dealer is coming or that one of the other dealerships will start selling them but so far that hasn't happened.

I've test ridden some Victories and Harleys, and had pretty much the same reaction as you to them. Which proves that great minds think alike.
I do have to tip my helmet to Victory, Harley, BMW, and Triumph, all of whom make it easy to get test rides.
JimNtexas 3 months ago
@JimNtexas I'm thinking of test riding a few Harley's just to compare them to the Victory. I really liked that bike. I don't see myself getting a cruiser any time soon but if my wife would go riding with me I would. I could also see myself getting one when I get a little older and just want to cruise around a bit. I didn't think I would like the Victory but by the end of my 40 minute test ride I was coming up with excuses to justify taking it home.

The sound at 4:54 made me cum
taiachu 3 months ago
@taiachu It did have a nice sound without being obnoxious like some cruisers.
kryten 3 months ago
@kryten depends mostly of the exhaust. Even harleys are not so called "obnoxious" loud unless the exhaust has been modified. Now goto test ride a 2012 harleys like fat boy or fat bob or street glide. Im very sure that they surprise if you have some stupid prejudices to harleys like many f*ckin idiots do...
Bikeman1087 3 months ago
@Bikeman1087 I don't have a prejudice against Harley's. I have friends with Harley's and some of them sound really nice. Its the asshats that modify them to be as loud as possible and then sit at stop lights revving them that I think are obnoxious. I've seen people on Japanese cruisers do the same thing though.
kryten 3 months ago
@kryten Ok. + points for you then. :)
What comes for the revving engine at stop lights, some people are dumb and the bike itself is irrelevant because even people on sport bikes do that. But sure you know it. What I have seen, most frequently people rev engines at stop lights ride enduro/sm bikes.
Bikeman1087 3 months ago
@Bikeman1087 The enduros/sm bikes are probably about to stall and they're revving them to keep them going. LOL!
kryten 3 months ago
@kryten In my area theres a person with quad bike with very loud exhaust, more louder than most of loud piped harleys. It doesnt disturb me at all. Im one of those people who dont wake up so easily because of engine sounds. Personally Im so obsessed to engine sounds that to me engine sounds are mostly more like a natural environment sounds than very disturbing noise. But yea of end off topic. :)
Bikeman1087 3 months ago
@Bikeman1087 I like the sound of a nice engine but I don't like people that sit at stop lights revving the hell out of their bikes or cars to show off. Douchebags come in all varieties. Take any bike or sporty car and you'll eventually find a moron that owns one and shows off with it. They're usually the one that bought their car or bike for a status symbol and not because they genuinely like and appreciate it.

You need a 300 lb momma on the back of your gsxr for a ride. Then its a fair comparison.

one of my coworkers has a kawasaki cruiser... i think its a vulcan or something like that. He asked me to switch bikes one of these days but the dude is pretty big and im afraid that him being used to slower turning and and upright-er riding position is gonna make him lose control on my bike... and now that I watched this video Im thinking... "HEEEEELLL NOO MAN!!!" . I was looking forward to testing his but I'd rather go to a dealer or test somebody else's bike.
caguamassatanicas 3 months ago
@caguamassatanicas Its a totally different feeling. It took me a mile or two to feel comfortable on the Victory. Turning felt weird at first but after a few miles and a couple of turns I was fine. Going from a cruiser to a sport bike might be a bit weird though. If you want to try a cruiser try to find a nearby dealer doing a demo day.
kryten 3 months ago
If you're planning on riding cruisers, you might as well get used to a clunky transmission. They're all like that. Don't let the look of a cruiser fool you either; the seating position is the extreme opposite of a supersport motorcycle... they are uncomfortable as hell. I can't wait to get off of mine... love it, love the fact that its a 2000cc Vtwin, but it's just not what I'm looking for. Hello Yamaha Super tenere!
Dp908 3 months ago
@Dp908 Yeah. By the time I got back to the dealer my ass and back were sore. A Super Tenere would be a nice all around, do anything bike.
kryten 3 months ago
I honestly think a street fighter would fulfill all the needs for a motorcycle. They are plenty powerful, plenty sporty, upright seating position... I would just buy a CB 1000R and be done with motorcycle shopping. Well, unless I'm going to ride off road :P
op3l 3 months ago
Get a Honda CBR, those seats are amazingly comfortable. Remember, a cruiser is a lawnmower with pipes. I don't mind cruiser riders, a lot of my friends ride them. I just politely ask them to give me warning so I can take the baffle out of my exhaust. I can't stand that fucking rumble. I'd much rather WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMP WOOOOOOOMP!
RaceMeNowhere 3 months ago
thats exactly why i would never ride a harly or a cruiser, because there is no clearance when turning. I do turns on my bicycle faster then i do on my brothers goldwing.
ruskiyify91 3 months ago
@ruskiyify91 I never scraped and I leaned it pretty far but I was always kinda hesitant to lean because I knew I was getting close.

A fedback on your camera, it sounds great and angle to point of wiev is perfect, no need to worry, everything is crisp clear and enjoyable. WELL now we got that sorted ,WHAT THE H... WAS YOU THINKING, crisers are more clonky and heavy cus they arent made for sporting , all tho i like them ,id rather build one out of a old jap like a good honda ,and you know you got a NICE ride .lightrer and more agile then a factory cruiser with more sporty feel to it,but i cant were i live ( SIGH).
transdetendal 3 months ago
@transdetendal I only test rode this bike because the local Victory dealer was having a demo day. I never pass up a chance to ride someone else's bike.
kryten 3 months ago
@kryten wish they would do that here ,ofcourse id do the same!
transdetendal 3 months ago
You really appreciate a sportbike after riding a cruiser, that's for sure. If you ride a cruiser for a while, you start to really miss the sportiness and the nimbleness. I know when I was riding my dad's Harley for a week, I was in heaven once I got back on a sport bike. :)
ToastToGo 3 months ago
@ToastToGo I love my sport bike but honestly I was starting to like the Victory. Its a different tool for a different job. If I could talk my wife into riding with me I would probably get one just to cruise around on.
