  • yeah i agree this is pretty much a crap test ..they are not in the same weight class..this is like comparing a punch from a 13 year old boxer to a 180 man who has never fought all his life

  • for some reason bren foster is always on Fight Science

  • @orchimaru123 Because he's a boss!!

  • Why didn't they have a REAL Karateka demonstrate what a real punch is??? They should have contacted someone in Okinawa like Kiyohide Shinjo. This is the most bullshit test I have ever seen. The "testers" do not represent truth in the martial arts.

  • @Koryuhoka so in other words, "truth" only comes from those of the country of origin? if thats the case, then martial arts shouldnt be practiced by anyone other than those who r descendants of its creator...is this what ur saying?

  • do ya think this might have been a bit more accurate with all of the same weight classes here instead of different ones?? lol

  • isnt this an unfair test? each puncher/martial artist is different.... maybe one is stronger than the other?

  • @TylerNewmanPk yes it is, they forgot 1 major! major! part of this whole formula.... it is.... damage/velocity/mass= which style is the strongest punch.... its what a real fight scientist (like myself) always knows...its something most scientist and martial artist over look.

  • @TylerNewmanPk i use this forumla to decide how to go about my opponents.... its energy = mass x velocity...a man with 100 lb of mass x 10 mph (1000 energy units) is weaker than one that is 250 lb of mass and 5 mph (1500 energy units) .

  • Amazing how the History channel made crucial mistakes on this, different martial artist on different weight classes??? Hello???? As each one hits they'll hit with different momentum and force. So much for "No Hollywood Punk" There's you're proffessionals....

  • lol every fighter got bigger as they progressed

  • well no crap the kung fu guys gonna hit the weakest i mean look at em, its like comparing a lightweight punch against a freaking super heavy weight?!

  • crash test dummies are 150 grand. Lol, why?

  • hes husky as shit. you would think hes going to punch hard

  • I've come to conclusion that there is no fighting style necessarily superior to others, victory depends on the quality of the fighter using a chosen style.

  • boxing > mma

  • OmfG, $150,000 punching dummy, in the name of science smh

  • kung fu has many punches, trololol

  • the punch is based on the person, not the martial art.

  • they skipped the muay thai guy. and isn't that afro ninja?

  • that karate guy is the afro ninja! I'm almost positive it's him.

  • they forgot street fighting

  • @SuperRockfan101 which street fighting

french street fighting(savate)or hawiian street fighting(kajukenbo)

  • @SuperRockfan101

    no they didn't.

street fighting isn't a martial art.

  • That was dumb, each puncher got progressively bigger. LOL!

  • isnt bren foster an olympic tkd fighter?? they dont throw punches do they??

  • @jmun28x In Olympic taekwondo sparring(which is different than fighting), punching is allowed, but it won't earn you any points. In taekwondo fighting, punching, knees, grappling, kicking and throwing are all game.

  • i'm sorry but if you punch someone and deliver a 612lbs of force the average person is going to be knocked the fuck out

  • 0:01

  • the kung fu guy much smaller. boxer guy 3 size the other guy

  • 1:16 red neck....

  • @Itachi429 LMAO

  • LOL YOU KNOW THIS IS BS,cause all of them broke their form when doing the punch test, all of those guys could of just like done a straight up boxing punch and torked their whole body, but it wouldn't be their true style. The Kung Fu guy's punch was the quickest and he did it in the shortest space. And its the fighter not the style. So if you got some fatass to like run as fast as he could and put all300pounds of his body into one punch, his punch would be theStrongest of them all,but not the best

  • lol a one punch knockout is a "legend" i guarantee you that almost everybody in the world could do it, but only few can do it quickly and practically

  • *sigh* Another show that thinks that the only worthwhile martial arts are Chinese and Japanese.

  • @Tareltonlives lol this show shows fighting styles from all over the world, just no this episode...

  • all i have to say about a one punch knockout -- Conditioning Training. Also, all these men are of different builds and I'm sure training levels. The data seems to be incorrectly collected. I *know* as someone with roots in Tae Kwon Do, that most kung fu and karate artists have more power behind their punches than I do.

  • how was that a one inch punch?

  • Wing chun stand up for sure. But I wonder if someone already came up with a defense for sharp shooter in their wing chun like homeboy.

  • this isnt really acurate because each of the guys is bigger for example look at the kung fu guy compared to the boxer you can see the difference

  • wow this is so bad... they need the best of one average weight group...

  • The Whole Philosaphey Parden The Spelling Is To Develope The Man Or Woman In To A Weapon. Everything Else Is A Tool The Practitioner Must Become The Weapon.

  • yeah and bruce lees fights in the movies were filmed in high speed then slowed down cuz he was so fast....lee was the first true mixed martial artist

  • there is no such thing as the "ultimate" martial art. It depends on the person.

  • Where the hell is Muay Thai!

  • @gwa56 In the trash where it belongs. Useful or not, it breeds cocky retards who can't really hold their own out on the streets.

  • @gwa56 thai land

  • Muay Thai's punch?

    Probably close to Boxing's.

  • @MuayBoranWarrior The average pressure of a pro muay thai fighter's punch is under 700 lbs of force.

  • @TenteixSaigo LOL and the funny thing is that Chuck loddels punch is over 2000lbs

  • @TenteixSaigo oops, Chuck Liddel

  • dude i fucking love watching stuffs like this, helps me decide which martial art to take, im thinking boxing muay thai taekwondo and drunk boxing

  • @chewbacca520 muay thai...no none sense martial art :)

  • 1 they should not were gloves haha

  • the champion boxer weighs 1000x more than the rest of the crew, of course his punch is going to be stronger. and doing only one test per fighter is a slap in the face to statisticians.

  • If that was a one inch punch........it WOULD NOT LEAVE YOU STANDING ok?

  • Its insane how the simplest looking thing..........can be like......so amazing and complex and im talking about the dummy

  • this also depends on the weight and strength of each fighter, not nessarily the style of martial arts...

  • Also depends on were you hit that you can get KO i think you can hit the jaw or nose and get KO. If your hitting the head only then yeha you'll have to be big and strong to get a KO. But seriously thats dangerous to be rocking the braina round in the head.

  • dang it i wished that they would use like 20-50 people for EACH one they do AND have them the same "belt" rank :(. that would be so much more accurate then just having one person for each one they do...

  • was eskrima ever done in this show?

  • I can say my comment will sound stupid but the martial arts dosen't make the person strong the person makes the martial art strong or thats what i belive...

  • 4 real!..the reason why the boxers hit is stronger than the rest has something to do with his weight, that guy is over 200 lbs, the kung fu guy is about 150 lbs so of course the boxer is gonna have a stronger punch. make them the same weight and they would be close in power...

  • @panic1844

Thats what I was thinking; sure the boxer hit the hardest but he had a pretty large size advantage on just about everyone else.

  • @gohanmisticul no that is not stupid at all my friend. What you said is true

  • @gohanmisticul makes the person strong in the inside. you learn techniques to use it for defense. not on the outside

  • @gohanmisticul and how did that make your comment sound stupid?

  • @gohanmisticul i agreee :D

  • @gohanmisticul i agree, like if a Muay Thai guy beats a TKD dude that doesnt mean that TKD sucks(well ATA does) what it means is the guy doing TKD needs to practice more thats it. Cause i mean Muay Thai can beat up TKD cause they dont have limbs. So yeah completely agree

  • @crocgator44 hehehe wing chun ROCKS :D nice playlist tittle :D yip man ?lol

  • i think accuracy doesn't lie on science.. is on the part of martial artist.. how are the representatives of each martial artist selected? are they qualified to represent that particular martial art?

  • why dont they call the real people like for example if its karate call a japanese if mma call an american if judo call a japanese or a brazilian

maybe tis people are good but i reather see the people who used it originaly

  • why on earth would you call an "american" for MMA? Best MMA developers come from elsewhere.

  • @stakisolo That doesn't make sense. It doesn't matter who is performing the art, in a racial sense. It matters how well they know and live the art.

  • its the artist not the art

  • you have to put into consideration that ever guy there isa different size

  • LOL, i was just gonna say...

its funny that according to this "study" they started off with the smallest guy, then progressed to that massive boxer. as each person seemed a bit bigger than the previous person, the impact number increased....

    hmm....

  • well yeah these national geographic fight science shows have some flawed info, i only like watching it out of curiousity and i like fight sports.

  • Yea that was the main criticism this show received, that the weight proportions to power measurement weren't fair or equal. But still, i think they just couldnt be bothered :).

  • Ummmm Ninjitsu kinda scares me cause what if someone comes to your house and does the death punch to you......

  • ummmm if they come to your house you like ummm... get a gun or knife, maybe a baseball bat?

  • @Dereksag14 a trained martial artist isn't easily stopped by an opponent with a weapon. Presence of mind and tactics will win. Besides, the best fighters i know are sharpshooters with pistols and rifles. xD

  • lol

  • if you've tried boxing before, u know the weight of the Gloves gives big differences to the power of punches. Im not saying this to argue but just to clarify that TKD guy and boxer both wearing boxing glove if im not mistaken.

  • weight of the gloves actually dont make a big difference to the actual power of a glove. it hurts more to get hit by a small glove but thats because of padding but actual power change is minimal. im talking 10 lbs difference of impact. the only time you have a big difference is if you punch bare knuckle and compare it to gloved punches

  • i <3 ninjitsu & taekwondo... :D

  • Hey its Afro ninja ^_^

  • they ddnt consider the varying weights of the fighters. Im sure if the kung fu guy was as big as the boxer, itd be almost as strong.

  • no, in styles like kung fu, its all about the chambering of strikes. that would mean that no matter how big a TMA guy is, his POWER would be the same. the way boxers chamber their punches allows for the bigger dude to have more power.

  • If a shaolin monk is here, he would have knocked the dummy's head off.

  • Yea the main problem with accuracy in terms of weight to direct force proportion. But remember, boxing is purely about punching (they don't work on kicking), so the intent of kungfu was probably to still sacrifice direct power for speed.

  • brazilian jj >all

  • not even close.

  • this rli isnt vry conclusive, bt stil fun 2 watch

  • of course the boxing guy is gonna generate a lot of force....hes huge!

  • Lol look at the back and arm muscles of boxer xD. no wonder he stroke more than 50 kg karate guy hehe

  • 02:35 and of Mortal Kombat :P

  • Muay Thai is the best :)

  • muay thai is a basic standup sport very boring after a while

  • taekwondo and karate copyed kung fu. and the japan copyed all of chinas weapons. so kung fu is the best

  • Nope. Taekwondo is derived mainly from Taekyon, which is a pure Korean art, although there is a Karate influence in there too. Karate was developed by the Japanese because of the weapons ban started in the 15th century. If you were actually a practitioning martial artist such as myself, you would appreciate that there is no "best" martial art, and that who wins a fight is determined by who is the better martial artist.

  • Yea, they weren't directly copied. Everything branched from the Shaolin, but you can obviously see that the many styles are heaps different from shaolin teachings, too different to be copied :D.

  • kung fu is movie shit ninjas are far morew deadly

  • Kung Fu is designed for battlefield. Kung Fu in movie is designed to be visually pleasing. Two different things. Bruce Lee really didn't fight like he did in movies. Really.

  • @supertarzan12 You dont know Bruce Lee then. He didnt just know Kung Fu. He knew alot of martial arts. Many mmany different styles of kung fu but he knew, TKD, Karate, Jujutsu, Ninjutsu, Aikido, Boxing, Fencing, Sanda, Pu Doe, and others. He was the best. In movies or not he had the knowledge and physical abilities to take down any opponent. He was a master of the martial arts world. What he does in the movies isnt what hed do in real life. That was for show.He did know more than he pretended

  • @supertarzan12 I can tell. I take kendo, and the way they teach us to use a sword is very different from movies

  • @supertarzan12

holy shit if bruce lee didn't fight like that in movies.... he must of been ever more a monster in real life!

  • @soulreaver484 True story: He protected a girl Eunice Lam by the Hong Kong shore where he and the girl were surrounded by 4 thugs. He finished them in less than a second and they just all got kicked at the leg. Just imagine his speed.

  • @supertarzan12 he created JKD Jeet Kune Do

  • @supertarzan12

Lol yes he did, he wasnt even in to making movies until later... of his Martial Arts. The Idea wasnt for pleasing to him, but introducing chinese kung fu in other places than just china.

  • @supertarzan12 he was better than in the movies.

  • @supertarzan12 Theirs a difference between Kung Fu and Wushu. Wushu is the Fancy looking, Show Style. Kung fu is Indeed Real. Shaolin Kung fu, Is perhaps the oldest Martial Art. Im A Second Degree black belt in kung fu. And Bruce lee Didn't do Kung fu, IN fact he didn't Even believe in "style". Bruce Lee's Jeet kune do is a Combination of all Martial Arts. So when he was fighting a "style" He knew its Weakness. He was more Wing chun Then Kung fu.

  • @scorpioncrow Allow me to add to that..Yes Wushu is different. Wing chun is a type of southern china kung fu style used to stay close and on top of your ooponent and feed off of his movement using sensitivity to follow him...So yes he did do kung fu.: He was tought by YIP MAN....research it.You were right about his copilation of styles to build Jeet Kune do. and Kung fu schools usually dont use degrees or belts. they use SASHES. Your school was very untraditional.

  • @supertarzan12 And that really Was his Way of Fighting in the movies. It was all Real hits real kicks. He was REally As Mind blowing as the movies made him seem. Their has NEver been Anyone like him since.

  • @supertarzan12 But he was a real kungfu master! he still can fight like u see on film, maybe more!

  • @supertarzan12 I still believe Tae Kwon Do is far more effective in damage per time ratio than kung fu.

  • @TheFrostHydra i say its more of the person that determines the damage not the art ;)

  • @crocgator44 Still, theres better techniques in Tae Kwon Do than in Kung Fu. The Tornado Kick and Axe Kick for example are definitely more effective than that Kung Fu two footed flying kick. Just look at the Physics and the transfer of Kinetic energy.

  • @TheFrostHydra i've taken both styles and they can't really be compared because they are made to win in different ways. tae kwon do is a straight forward fighting style: beating the hell out of someone with power and speed. kung fu: focusing on the specific weak points in the body like jujitsu but with stikes to make fighting more and more difficult for your opponent. kung fu is more tactical and more diverse but it all really comes down to the martial artist himself/herself

  • @supertarzan12 bruce lee used his own jeet kune do, not kung fu.....just for the record :)

  • i think you've worded that a little wrong. Kungfu-movie moves are ****, but kungfu itself (which in movies, is only displayed for its flashy side), is far more effective. As for a comparison between the two, each would have their advantages in different places, and different situations, so i don't think its right for you to go insulting any style.

  • Ryan, its not true that they copied kungfu. They were developed, then renamed when they could no longer be compared as identical or closely similar. Personally i think kungfu is the best (suiting to me), but the style depends from person to person, some people who are born with strong legs are built for taekwondo, etc..

  • My head just exploded from the extreme level of badass that these martial artists radiate.

  • Lol no kidding eh?

  • Man it would be awesome to see all these guy in a tourament

  • nice
