I listening to this song when I'm walking in the late hours of the night in Tokyo. There's a handful of people still up. Couples, old folks, people closing up shop and looking to just go home after a hard nights work. Lights are still bright as ever. The moist of the evening air rolls in. I'm alone, but I don't feel like I am. This city is alive.
@kaijinseng you talk alot of bullshit haha, but maaaaan do you speak the truth! It's a song to watch the sun rise to, a brilliant blast of ............. brilliance, glory.
This song is so beautiful and I absolutely adore it. I've seen The Besnard Lakes in concert twice now and both times I've been in awe when they played this. It's wonderful.
Smashing! WOW! Both the song and the video left me totally speechless ... But did anyone actually catch the meaning of it? The lyrics are kind of weird...
@JackSAusten I'm 100% sure the video is about spies decoding messages in the "number sations" way. You know, shortwave radios with strange transmisions.... anyone else?
The movie they are watching is very Bruce Conner. If you don not know the name wiki him. I went to the Film Forum in NYC for a collection of his works last month and it was the best 140 min of montage I have ever seen. All his stuff has been yanked from youtube lately but you can still find some using google. If your into film check him out.
I love the Mile-End (Montreal) locations in the video. The scene where the guy walks along a red brick building took me a while to place but it is rue Marmier under the Rosemont overpass just east of de Gaspé. The outside of 'Albatross' is Cinéma Beaubien; he walks from the park across the street. The underpass and metal stairs are at Clark under the rail-road tracks. The inside of the theatre and the stairs the woman goes up are in Cinéma L'Amour on Saint-Laurent. (thanks Street View!)
amazing.....

@ezeqyell Actually, every Besnard Lakes song is about spies. Which kind of blew my mind when I realized that.

A good song made great by the final verse when everything kicks into high gear.
Awash with guitar/vocal nirvana.
