My grandmother told me the story about baby´s smile while sleeping, too.
She said when a baby smile while it sleeps it will play with the angels in heaven in they dreams.

My son used to laugh in his sleep, too. Actually, his first giggles were sleep-giggles. We didn't hear him laugh while he was awake until a few weeks later.
