  • More damn to halt the usage of Coal and Gas power station which clearly not nature friendly in long term, nature activist should aware of that. Large hydropower projects to deliver bulk energy reliably at relatively low costs mix of 70% hydro, 20% coal and 5% gas generation and 5% of other renewable energy sources will be good i think rather than now 5% hydro and the rest coal n gas which is expensive both meterial and maintenace. Hydro really consumed land but only once its green energy anyway.

  • My grandfather died missing our old longhouse and the river thanks to the Bakun Dam. And to think that even if we tear that monstrosity down now, what's lost is lost forever. On behalf of my generation and people I have only one thing to thank you for, Taib. You gave us (2nd gen. of displaced) not only the opportunity to get a higher education by placing us nearer to the city, but also the drive to become experts in our various field to achieve our lifelong goal...to kick you out of Sarawak.

  • Taib said his uncle was corrupted and overthrew him, but he is even worst ! Well in this internet age it is hard for him to hide secrets and assets. He will ban internet if he can in the name of protecting Sarawak.

  • Total corruption. It is hard to hide money and secret in internet age. But those who can't read or understand English will have a harder time to get these information.

  • The REAL Bumpiputra of Malaysia....

And look at what the Malays are doing to them...

It takes a foreign journalism to point out the injustices carried out in Malaysia...

What a complete disgraceful country Malaysia truly is,.. Malaysia Truly Asia, yes.. it is... very corrupt, poor and third world.. Truly Asia

  • even most of the gov't staff are all 95-99% malays...and they said 1 malaysia

  • One man's greed has brought untold misery and suffering to so many innocent simple folks. What have they done to deserve this? Taib and his family will pay dearly for their sins if not in this world, it will certainly be in the next.

  • Fauziah Ibrahim, you're an angel from above. I worship the ground you walk on!!!!

You are worth more than all the journalists of the Malaysian mass media put together. And so very pretty too.

Please make effort that all Sarawakians see this news clip. Damn those robbers of the land and resources. Time to wake up and do justice.!

  • unfortunately they wont wakeup

maybe white fur should increase the damn to be build to 24

  • FI - In some ways though you also been considered an ally of the chief minister. You yourself

    JJM - I am(Oh yeah..!)

FI - You admit you are an ally

JJM - I am an ally

FI - Crony of the chief minister..?

JJM - I dont thinkcrony means friendsI am a friend of

FI - A friend of the chief minister

JJM - Yes(Eye blinking! Wink! Wink!)

  • BN's Malcolm Mussem Lamoh (3,907 votes) has beaten PKR's Jawah Gerang (2,053). The majority is 1,854.

With this result, BN has increased its majority from the 806-vote margin at the 2006 state election.

apparently dayak just dont wake up !!!

  • sent a bell to wake them...

  • Ever wonder why countries like Vietnam are going to overtake Malaysia soon in terms of development?

It's because of fuckers like Taib stealing the people's money and resources for their own gain.

  • haiz......take batang air as example...got anything that the government service to the local people before the incident of selecting a new council to control lubok antu?now, wan election le..the government just do this do that..after the election, what happen next?

  • We can't depend on the Dayaks Ministers aymore. Not any longer. We have tonnes of professionals among us. We have tonnes of highly educated person among us. WE ARE A HIGLY EDUCATED COMMUNITY. Did any of you realise that?? We really need to have a perty of our own. We need to get back what we have lost during Stephen Kalong Ningkan replacement. We need to take back what we've own.

  • even so, you would have no way at all to build a party and win votes if the restrictions on media stays strong. I'd say we form a military group and perform a coup de etat. perhaps, after brainstorming with several people, that seems to be the most economical and effective, if not, the only way to return our money back to us.

  • now...what should we do....is it too late already or theres a light from the end of tunnel??...dear sarawakians we have silent too much...we lost our land...we lost our oil....we lost almost everything during our state developement to be mordenized...but yet the outcome is for "THEIR" cronies only...what aboout u?migrate to KL??nahhh peninsular citizens dont like us...but still we can accept "them" in our state...Y?? we have to be stronger...protect SARAWAK!!

  • i wonder why he doesn't want to step down .. he wants to rule until the end of his life?? He should spend the remaining of his life doing social or religious works or taking care of his grandchildren.....

  • The people of Sarawak is eating Taib's Shit for so long that it is time for a change. Wake up Sarawakian!! Conflict of interest is Conflict of interest. It is the law...not Taib's Law. PKR should be vocal on these corruptions and deal with all the cronies and Taib forever. Taib will never step down as long as he don't get the 'Tun' title. Enough is enough... Wake up.

  • Tahi Monyet Sdn Bhd.

  • overun our leaders n make idris or mahathir or me as our new ceo, i promise u to turn sarawak into new luxemburg, how bout that?

  • enuf 4 oil n gas, coal, antimony, silica sand, clay n etc, but pls keep my rainforest intact. i know u want that HiQu timber despite ur paloi excuses and projects. i don need lots of money, bumpy roads, problematic cars, shallowing rivers, floods, soiled drinking h2o,batu,alcohol and ur edu system.i need my rainforest badly 4 im planning 2 bring in miss luna maya 2 b my jane. 1 more thing pls give back my negara merdeka sarawak which has been endorsed by Brunei,Britain n USA since Sir James Brooke.

  • Don get me wrong, I love development. I'm a product of development. But let it be fair n square. Let everyone have a share of d cake, not jus a few. Kudos aljazeera for having the balls to do this. Maybe after this BBC can come over n do something similar. Have that guy, Jeremy Paxman interview Pehin Seri. He he he...

  • I bet u, after this al jazeera will not be allowed to come to Sarawak n do this type of documentary. Jus watch.

  • While I'm at it, did u know that before PBDS (now defunct for obvious reasons) became a partner of the State BN, Dr. James was one of those young aspiring Iban leaders within PBDS who fought for the rights of the Dayaks. I looked up at him to fight for our rights. Now... look at him...

  • After all that, why is it wrong for us Dayaks to wan to support political parties other than BN? My father was born almost 65 years ago n only after he retired a few years ago did he get to see tar-sealed roads n electricity in his longhouse. That's after 45 years of independence! The irony is all these came after, for the first time, we voted for DAP! All those years of supporting BN n they waited until we voted for DAP?! Doesn't that tell u something?

  • The Dayaks, be it iban, bidayuh, orang ulu, r treated like 3rd or even 4th class citizens. Wen d govt wans to prolong NEP, they use stats that include s'wak n sabah bumis. Wen it's time to distribute d wealth gained from this, s'wak n sabah bumis either never get anything or, best case scenario, disedekahkan dengan cebisan sahaja. We're jus to mencukupkan korum sahaja.

  • Do u know d reason given by this BN govt for not allowing natives to survey their own native land is because they're afraid we'd be selling the land to Chinese taukeys for a quick buck? Are we IDIOTS?! Are we dumbasses?! Are we stupid?! Isn't it our right to decide wat we wanna do with our land? Let us reap wat we sow becoz it's our RIGHT!

  • well! what can you / we do......forget about it!! let it be for as long as they want.......nasib le!!

  • Even though Pehin Seri brought some advances in the state, I have to say it's quite negligible compared to the resources:development rate. We (Sarawak) are basically feeding other states to stay 'alive'. With this mentioned, non Sarawakian, just shut up over the issues regarding Sarawak.

I don't think switching from BN to PR will not really matter because the ideology of both parties are basically the same. The important thing is we have the right person for the job.

  • Nway, I think I should simplfy what the video is trying to say:

So Taib Mahmud is the Boss. (Of Sarawak).

But does that give him a god-given right to do anything he pleases?

    Nuf said.

    Cheers.

  • Lastly, before anyone assumes that I support some party or watsoever, let me say this;

The ppl should not be afraid of their govment. It is the govment that should be afraid of it's ppl. (And plz dont take this out of context. We all know wat this means).

Hence, it doesnt matter if BN or PKR or Independant. If he's corrupt, kick them out!

  • yes, you're right,i hope our fellow Sarawakian will wake up and show them some color, talking about races like BN in Malaysia is stupid.we must unite as one regardless of Malay, chinese, iban, dayaks, etc.we can only be called M"sian ONLY.if we can do it,we are the gov't!yes we can!!!!!

  • Sorry if I sound "emotional", but I'm just trying to get my msg across. The thing is, I just find it insulting when ppl say that "Sarawak has prospered under Taib Mahmud". I think it would be more appropriate to say "Some people in Sarawak have prospered". Because I'll tell u now that that statment does NOT include the Dayaks.

  • yes ur right only some ppl prosper under taib kingdom e.g. ting phek king family

  • We've been marginalized for 30yrs.

We've been the 3rd class citizens of Sarawak for 30yrs.

We've gotten everything LAST for 30yrs.

We've been left behind for 30yrs.

    In OUR OWN LAND.

(Who cares if we are the original inhabitants of Sarawak?! Who cares if we are the majority population?!)

With that, you expect us to lie down and play dead?

  • Harmdone7,

After looking at yr profile, it's obvious that you are not a dayak. (Obviously a Malay/Muslim) So it's easy for u to say that Sarawak is doing well under Taib Mahmud. Mind u, I'm not pointing out your race, on the contrary, I'm pointing out the fact that u dont know how it is to be a Dayak in Sarawak.

I wonder if you've ever set foot in a longhouse even...

  • The reason the rupiah is "worthless" was mostly because of the asian financial crisis and plain bad advise.

However, you have to admit that by average, the Indonesian are more politically mature then us in Malaysia. In fact, civil liberties are widely observed. Which is why there is opposition to the porn act. In Malaysia, though we have the constitution that say that we have the same right, the sedition act is basically a legal gag.

On corruption, are we any much better....

  • While I do agree that there is merit under the rule of Taib (for one, no UMNO in Sarawak), I also oppose the blatant misuse of his position.

If the state contract are offered on open tender, they would be more development in the Sarawak (cheaper cost as well as a more wide distribution of state money instead it being accumulated under one family).

From what I see, that fault alone is a great disservice to the people of Sarawak. Add the NCR land violation and the picture bleaker.

  • And mind you, Indonesia is still as corupt as before... even without Suharto. So think about it...

  • Talk to any Indonesian, especially those in Indonesia eg the taxi drivers - they'll tell you the vast difference. Now they regret for overthrowing Suharto... "Lebih senang cari makan masa Pak Harto.." they say. As to Sarawak's rich natural resources - yes, that's why our account is good but other states are rich too eg Terengganu, Sabah but if not properly managed, you'll go bankrupt babe!! I hope we can exchange healthy ideas here... please present facts and not emotions...

  • Thanks for comments guys, but how sure are you the PR-ers will be free of corruption? They are struggling guys, it's normal for peope in power... Indonesia got rid of Suharto cos he was corrupt to the highest level - but look at what happened to Indonesia... Indo posed a strong challenge to Malaysia and Thailand in terms of economic growth during Suharto's rule, but now - 10 years after Suharto, their money is almost worthless!

  • Harmdone7 is a joke! Let's condone massive corruption if there is some development in the country? Look at the bigger picture? OK, rule of law and respect for Sarawak's citizens! Massive wealth of Sarawak should be shared by all, not only Taib Mahmoud, his family and cronies!

  • Wake up people. Don't be fooled by PR!!!! They're just a bunch of opportunistic liars. Yes Taib might have created a business dynasty for his family, but look at the bigger picture -- Sarawak has prospered under his rule with a very stable and efficient administration. Do you guys know that the Sarawak govt has the healthiest current account in the country??? While other states are laden with debts from the Fed govt, Sarawak is not only self-sufficient but has a surplus/ reserve

  • Prepare for the thumbs down harmdone7. These PR supporters don't like freedom of speech if it's against them.

  • Of course we're have the healthiest current account in the country, with so much timber and oil, it's not surprising. But do you know how many % of the money in the account goes into the pocket of the Taib family? and how many % are actually allocated to develop the state? If you don't live here and experience it for yourself, you won't know how hard life is for the people here.

Who cares about accounts when the citizens are still living in the poor.

  • ya my foot

  • its easy for u to say, "sarawak has prospered under taib." but have u ever felt the pain when ur ancestral land, the land where ur father was born, where ur father grew up on, where ur father planted rice n other stuff, where ur father's father is buried, is taken away from n told that the land is state land?

  • Did u know that we, the indigenous people, the bumiputera sarawak as u call us, the people who were oredi in sarawak even before others arrived, r prohibited by law (amended n enacted by this BN govt) to survey n gain land titles of our own land? did u know if we couldn't get d govt land n survey dept to survey our own native land, we r prohibited by d said law to survey it using private surveyors?

  • It's time to get out of M,sia and replace Petronas with Petrosar.

  • Don't vote for BN. VOTE for Taib Mahmud. Without him there will be NO :-

Dams, Road Maintainces, Cement Factory, Rubbish Collection company, New DUN Building, New Plane for TYT or himself, Toll Bridges, ASSAR, Sejingkat Port, UNIMAS, Alumminium Smelter, etc., and above all, there will be no jobs for Sarawakians. Most of Federal position in Sarawak taken by West Malaysian. What left only the position like cleaner, office boys and driver. So vote for Taib not BN.

    Wow.... He's a GREAT man.......

  • I hate you people who keep on talking "cronyism this, cronyism that," and then blurt out "vote for PR!". Don't be stupid. Anwar's family received millions of shares during his time in power. His buddies' companies got billions of ringgit worth of projects too.

Don't be hypocrites. If you want to talk about cronyism you shouldn't support Anwar.

  • True, but in this current world, why is it wrong to vote for the best of the worst? Why cant i choose another party? Do u wan me to vote for BN n continue being trampled? Do u wan me to forgo my rights n let my children n their children to eat pasir? Do u wan me to never ever ever be able to see my grandad's grave after it's taken away n planted with jathropa n oil palm trees? Do u wan me n my kin to continue living in poverty? A vote for BN is a vote to continue all these. Give me an option.

  • Aljazeera English has done a great job - they have given a lot of time and opportunity to Taib's family, but at the end the truth was still obvious for all to see. Great job reporting, hopefully some Malaysians will realize what is happening is Sarawak

  • it takes foreign journalists to bow this open .... memalukan rakyat Malaysia

  • Sarawak voters, when are you going to wake up?!

Vote for Pakatan Rakyat for a better tomorrow!

    Corrupted UMNO!

  • both parties suck big time

  • Maybe to u they do but can u give us an option.

  • Mr Leon Lim, are you aware that there's no UMNO is Sarawak...

  • Agi idup

    agi ngelaban!

    Takada sound

  • UMNO and NAJIB and all his cronies will die!

its will be better for the rakyat!!

    come on PR
