What a beautiful tribute to your Father.I have always loved this song and learned it because of my Father. My Dad died 3 weeks ago. I appreciate your music and your lovely thoughts of your Dad. You are right, his song is in your soul.
Hello laurianni, I'm so sorry I didn't see this earlier...we've been off of YouTube a bit. I also sorry to hear that your Father died...You have my sympathy, because it is never easy. I found, that once my heart became quieter, I could hear the angels speak--they will always be with us. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments.
Wow! I have heard this song a hundred times but never heard it until I listened to you. Thoughts of my dad, who was in WWII and thoughts of my friends who I was with in Vietnam who are no longer here. My dad had no thoughts of music. I picked it up on my own. But, I know he would be proud of me to hear the music I play. I love your music.
Hey Charsal....well, you picked up the music pretty dog gone GOOD brother!! I'm so glad, that this song evoked some wonderful memories for you...it does the same thing to me, when I sing it...well, I guess that happens every time I pick up the guitar. You know, it's been said, when you think of past loved ones, they're right there with you. I'm glad we found you...

Nice job playing and singing. I'm a chiropractor by my youtube name ad1juster. You say your dad was a Dr. You have chirogirl is someone a chiropractor? nice job.
Hey ad1juster--thank you for the comment!!!!...Yes, my father was a Chiropractor and I am a Chiropractor....but our life now, is music. Nice to meet a fellow Chiro...Where did you go to school? We appreciate you stopping by and your kind words.
Oh, you're one of those....(smile) I'm kiddin' yah....good for you. Palmer grads are good doctors. I loved chiropractic, when I was in it, but now I don't even remember the names of the insurance companies or the first name of any attorney...(smile) Keep singing Brother--cause you're good at it.
You know, I didn't realize I did that....I'm such a ding-bat sometimes....I'll see if I can change it....thanks for pointing that out....For some reason, I always get those names mixed- up...DRAT!!1 Oh, great, now there's 100's of people running around, that know I made that mistake...shaking my head. Thanks Roeleke
Roeleke, But this human, doesn't like making mistakes like that....You see, it's changed now...Thank you...I feel like such an idiot. You're the best...thank-you
Yes a lot of emotions come, Yvonne, every word touches a memory to your Father, and brings an emotion to you! Great that you can sing it for the camera too!
I'm so sorry.....he died singing?--- while you were playing? That is such a sad story...but at the same time, it's glorious, because that means he's right there, every time you sing now and I'll bet you feel it, just like I feel my father, when I play the guitar....thank you for sharing that with me. I knew there was something special about you...
Bless your heart...you've really suffered some losses haven't you...I hope your spirit has healed...it must have, because I can hear the beauty of it in your songs....
Thank you Roeleke...we appreciate it..Yes, it is Dan Fogelberg...one of my favorite artists and I did know we lost him too soon. When I saw your lovely tribute to your father, I thought maybe we should introduce the two of them and if your dad liked music, they'd get along good, because my dad loved to play music.
Roeleke...just a thought, but you are more than welcome to add YOUR video tribute to your father, in response to mine...In fact, I think it would be cool.
I just had put that at Tamara her song, she is a very close friend of mine, Rossisinger. So I cannot now... just did it last evening and she was so happy with it!
Thank your Fanvanmel....we appreciate the comments from "The John Dear Mowing Club", a band located in Netherlands--loved your song,"Last Time I saw Townes Sing."
Carol and I, both remember our Father's as leaders. My Dad supported John and I in our music, WWII put a stop to Dad's musical ambitions. He continued on through us. Your video brings back a lot of good memories, thank you, Yvonne.
You and your brother, John Jeremiah, picked up the baton from your father and ran with it...He must have been so proud.
Jim, with you being the best sax player in southern Illinois and your brother John, a 70's musical Icon, with 7 albums and a nationwide hit, "Lake Shore Drive," ---a cohort of Janis Joplin and Minnie Ripperton, continue to entertain and lift audiences with your band "Southern Thunder."
I'm so sorry Bernie. They will always be with us---they won't let you forget them....they watch over us, guide us and come to us in our time of need. When our hearts are quiet, we can hear the angels speak. Bless you
My heart aches for your loss of your Father. I know how you feel. My Dad passed away 10 years ago, and I really miss him. My Dad was a B-24 bomber pilot in WWII. Now that he has gone, I have been studying his war letters to home and his war era stuff, and I have become a frappen B-24 expert in the process. Anyway, isn't it great to have a Dad you can be so proud of.
Thank you Steve. That is really neat, that you have all those letters left behind from your father---My father left me songs he had written. Pilots are a special breed, are they not---bold and free-spirited--their own man. My father flew an Ercoup..me too once. By the way, when I get a few extra hours, I'm sending your "Doctor My Eyes," to all the news agencies. To date, it is the best video I have seen--top notched, professional. You are a talented gem!
Man, I love you Youtubers---this has been a rough day for me and your comments have been up-lifting. Thank you hrhtlg for your kind words...you don't know how much they mean to me.
I have a hard time getting through the song...couldn't listen to it for years--would turn it off, because it choked me up so bad--that's why I had to sing it to him on the phone, because he always told me, "Doctors don't cry.". Thank you
Just think now Yvonne. You now have a video record, capturing your sincere emotions at the time. That is the beauty of playing music! It truly captures your emotions when you are at your best (musically). Be proud and look back at this with fondness :)
Thank you Phil...I hadn't thought it about like that--I'm not about remembering the day I have lost someone I love....but without my permission, a yearning and a feeling of loss overcomes me, around the date of my father's death, way before I remember why. Thank you for brushing the clouds away.
Very nice touching tribute to your dad I'm sure he would be proud. Great job on this Fogelberg tune...one of his best.Music is truly a wonderful gift and a great healer not to mention an important connector that keeps us all tuned in to one another.Brotherhood,Sisterhood, unity and peace.
My father passed away 9 years ago. I did an internet search on him the other day and the only thing that came up was his obituary. That seems wrong to me. He was a great man. I'm glad to see you doing this for your father. It seems that he was a great man too. I think I might need to get out the old accordion. Thanks for sharing this.
I am sorry for your loss...maybe he's not on the internet, but he's in your heart and he knows it. So this song can be for both of our dads. If he was a musician, I'll be he'd like playing music with my dad.....a heavenly gig.
You're making me cry....you're words are so kind and it shows, even more than I knew before, that we're all in this together. We all have lost and will lose the one's we love....but when a heart is quite, you can hear the angels speak. Thank you...
We come from poor people and one week before he died, Bob and I visited him....he made us "Water Biscuits," a stable of the Depression-era country people. He told me, "This is the best visit ever." Thank you Juan...mi padra es me corizon.
ive tears in my eyes your dad will be crying two for im sure hes up there hearing this and i bet you hes so proud of you this is so sad but such an honnor for your daddy you are a angel he will love this good night and god bless love wee deborah xoxox
Thank you deboeah. I couldn't even listen to this song for years---too sing it, is difficult. Even when I was young, I always knew, that our time with our parents was short...that's why I always tell you to listen to your father. They make us mad sometimes, but your parents love you, like you'll never be loved again. Thank you wee lass.
A beautiful dedication and wonderful rendition of this song which brought to me a new meaning and better understanding of the words therein. A heartfelt performance that brought tears to my eyes. Just beautiful. Thank you both. -waldo :-))

Isn't it amazing that music has the power to help our hearts recall those moments of love?
Doesn't much matter if the moment was joyful or heartbreaking, it's all still love and it brings it's own song with it.
You and your father were blessed to have such a wonderful relationship.
Thanks for sharing this. I have my own reasons and memories that make me love this song and you have done a very beautiful version

My father couldn't play an instrument but he loved singing so much. He died while he was singing with my organ music.
Twirretwarre 3 years ago
I'm so sorry.....he died singing?--- while you were playing? That is such a sad story...but at the same time, it's glorious, because that means he's right there, every time you sing now and I'll bet you feel it, just like I feel my father, when I play the guitar....thank you for sharing that with me. I knew there was something special about you...

This is such a wonderful song, I thought it was Dan Fogelbergs song, he sang this too (he died in december 2007, maybe you know!).
Thank you so much for making this a video reaction to the tribute to my Father.

Peace Sister,

Thank you,

five stars to you, Yvonne & Bob, that makes even a grown man cry.
I feel with you, my father was an oak-tree now he`s only a dry leaf and dies slowly and life brought me to far away to see him often.
My way of mourning is to keep my loved ones in my mind and never forget them and tell my children how they once were...

Great performance of this song! *****
volleyballjones 4 years ago
Thank you Steve. That is really neat, that you have all those letters left behind from your father---My father left me songs he had written. Pilots are a special breed, are they not---bold and free-spirited--their own man. My father flew an Ercoup..me too once. By the way, when I get a few extra hours, I'm sending your "Doctor My Eyes," to all the news agencies. To date, it is the best video I have seen--top notched, professional. You are a talented gem!

Peace brother.

Even when I was young, I always knew, that our time with our parents was short...that's why I always tell you to listen to your father. They make us mad sometimes, but your parents love you, like you'll never be loved again. Thank you wee lass.
